Description | Stardate: 66872.5 Location: Rojar System A new star has been discovered in the northern Beta quadrant near the edge of Federation space. Initial probe reconnaissance has revealed the star supports a mid-sized solar system which could potentially sustain humanoid life. As a precursor to possible colonization, Starfleet requires further in-depth analysis of the system and its composition. With authorization from Starfleet’s Planetary Sciences Division, Galileo has been dispatched to the Rojar system to conduct a system survey. USS Venture, the Galaxy Class which originally discovered the star, will provide overwatch during the operation. Mission Focus: Science, Exploration Mission Length: Long |

Mission Summary
There are many stars in the Milky Way galaxy but less than three percent are capable of supporting life. A recent deep-space exploration mission has revealed the presence of such a star, a Class-G similar to Earth's sun and designated as Rojar 861. This newly-discovered star lies in the northern sector block beyond the Typhon Expanse, an area previously unexplored due to its close proximity to the Delta Quadrant and Borg space. With recent advances in Federation military technology and the collapse of the transwarp network in 2378, Starfleet has recently signed an order to resume colonization efforts in the local vicinity.
Rojar 861 was discovered two days ago by USS Venture, a Galaxy Class explorer tasked with surveying the entire sector block. Two of Venture's initial long-range probe scans discovered the star supports a solar system of five planets and numerous asteroids. One of these planets, a Class-S gas supergiant designated Rojar II, has numerous moons and resides within an ideal area inside the star's habitable zone. Initial scans have revealed at least two of these moons are Class-M worlds ideal for colonization. In addition, potential deuterium and dilithium deposits have been identified on several of the system's large asteroids.
Starfleet is curious to know more about the system and before colonization or exploitation efforts can begin, the system must be fully examined and analyzed. Starfleet's Planetary Sciences Division has dispatched USS Galileo to conduct the system survey. The Nova Class will rendezvous with USS Venture at Starbase 185 then proceed together to the Rojar system. All planets must be mapped and studied, and any possible resource deposits must be identified.
