Personality & Traits
General Overview | What first strikes people about Amynta is that she has a rather sharp, morbid and sarcastic sense of humour. She can be a very charming woman when she wishes to be, or when something can be gained by it, but she prefers being deadly honest. She enjoys verbally sparring with people, as well as provoking others but she always does it with an almost gentle undertone, as if it is how she communicates off duty. She has a good memory, almost photographic in its nature, something which in turn has served her very well within Intelligence. She has a kind side too, a bit of a reluctant maternal edge to her when people she knows are in trouble. She enjoys the finer things in life, from fine drinks to the more expensive things in life. Professionally, she is more than capable. She hates making mistakes and pushes herself to do the best she can with the information that is gathered. |
|
Strengths | Amynta has a photographic memory, is very intelligent and is quite good at practical hand to hand self defence and weapons such as phaser rifles.
Weaknesses | On the down side, Amynta has not yet quite understood that she can't speak her mind all the time. She can come off as short, sarcastic and disrespectful...and often, that is exactly what she is. She can also get emotional when stressed, but tries to hide it.
Ambitions | As Amynta has just made Chief, her ambition is to keep her job.
Hobbies & Interests | Amynta has a clear love for literature, history, music and the finer things of life. While she is interested in exercise and the tools of her trade, she likes to keep her working life and her personal life seperate. She enjoys fashion and dancing as well, but will spend more time with reading than she would dancing on the holodeck.
Vernacular | With a neutral accent with a bit of a drawn in it, she never sounds too impressed with life.
Orientation | Bisexual | |
Language(s) Spoken | Standard, French, Bajoran, Cardassian, Klingon |
Personal History | Amynta was born on Volan III, a Federation colony now on the Cardassian side of the DMZ, the daughter of two former Starfleet scientists. Like her parents and her older sister she was human and would in retrospect describe her birthplace as "a no go backwater pretending to be unique." Despite this harsh criticism of her homeworld, Amynta had a good childhood. She had an older sister, Athena, who taught her the small things that every girl should know: hair pulling, manipulation of parents and generally pretending to be nicer than she was. Amynta was always encouraged to study, more because her parents were always busy with their work and therefore did not have time to take care of them. Amynta and Athena both did well at school. Where Athena was more physical than her younger sister, Amynta's memory was photographic and therefore she retained information better. But the girls got on well despite their differences and often helped each other out. Of course, when they became teenagers, things changed. Athena was quite an outgoing girl, eager to get into trouble and to play the field when it came to boyfriends. By contrast, Amynta was more reserved and less eager to participate, preferring to study. It was Athena who set her up with a boy called Olly, but it was his older brother Sam that Amynta ended up sleeping with. The result was that at the age of 17, Amynta became pregnant. She did not want to keep the child, but did because of her parents' promise to take care of the baby. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy who she named Carus. The same year of his birth, her sister joined the Marines and left their world. Amynta quickly discovered she wasn't cut out to be a mother. She also quickly found out that her parents had little interest in her now that they finally had a baby in the house again. She left home and went to Earth, not completely cutting off the ties but legally giving away her son to her parents. She spent a few months on Earth, working in a nightclub as a dancer before deciding to do something constructive with her life. The constructive thing being, of course, joining Starfleet. |

Starfleet History | The next four years were a quick learning curve for Amynta. She was studying to become an Intelligence Officer, having passed the entrance exam with flying colours. Away from the ties of her past, she explored herself and her mind, becoming a strong yet sarcastic woman who was unafraid to say what she thought. She did not pass top of her class, but left the Academy with decent marks and a decent reference. She graduated in 2373 and within a few months the war was raging around her. Her home colony had been evacuated prior to Cardassian occupation and her parents went to Mars, but with the suspicion hanging over their head that they were Maquis; as many from Volan III had gone down that path. However, things also showed differently with her family proving their loyalties to the Federation. Her sister was fighting in the front lines and Amynta's skills within Cardassian language quickly was put to the test. She first served on the USS Miranda, which was by that time outdated and had its share of hard times during the war. Amynta worked in the Intelligence department, where she worked with decryption of information given to them by their operatives. After the war ended, Amynta applied for operative status, but was denied because they did not think she was suited for it. So Amynta was transferred to the USS Saratoga, where she worked in the large Intelligence department. As the years passed, it became clear that her rise up the ranks and positions happened slowly. She did various of the Intelligence roles within the department, but the way she spoke to her superiors often hindered the promotion process. She was always told she was good at what she did, yet her attitude and lack of interest in the proper channels hindered more than it helped. Amynta never took it personally, not to anyone's face anyway. She got on with life, regaining touch with her son who joined the Marines and took more interest in her personal life, having her love affairs and enjoying spending time with friends. In 2387 she was transferred to the USS Galileo to serve there and hopefully prove herself. |
