Siren sighed as she set her chin in her hand, sipping her coffee with a frown as she tried to focus on the padd in front of her. It wasn't doing much good though. She realised she was doing that irritating thing of just reading the same line over and over, but not actually taking it in, so having to go back and read it again. And again. And again.

"You need a break, Siren," Victarion said gently as he watched her, with gentle eyes as he held his own coffee, a padd under his arm. He sat down, without invitation, placing his own padd down.

"I think you're right," she laughed weakly, letting the padd drop with a clatter on the table top. "I don't know what's wrong with me, I'm supposed to be used to taking in large amounts of information."

He watched her for a moment and shrugged. "Maybe..." he stopped and looked at her. "Maybe you aren't resting enough?"

"I'm okay," Siren assured with a warm smile, reaching to give his arm a squeeze. "But how are you doing, new boy?"

Victarion chuckled as he watched her, arching an eyebrow. "All good, thanks. I hope...the business you and the Captain did was successful."

Siren arched an eyebrow as she watched him before giving a small smile. He was her Yeoman. Of course he knew what went on. "As well as it could," she said softly.

"Good," he said and smiled gently to her, his eyes suddenly shining with mirth. "And your late night wrestling?"

Siren narrowed her eyes as she watched him with sparkling eyes and a small smile, leaning close. "I have got to find out how you do that."

"It's the magical talent I have," he said teasingly, chuckling. "I'm glad. For you, I mean. And her, of course."

Siren smiled at that, shaking her head as she looked down. "I - warned her that things tend not to last long with me. She still seemed to want to give it a try."

Victarion watched her, the smile fading at the words. "Siren...fight for it. If you really like her...fight for it. If it gets tough, don't surrender and walk away."

Siren sipped her coffee gently, but held his eyes. It wasn't something she did often. Talking about her lovers. There weren't all many around long enough to bother talking about. She finally gave a small smile. "You're always so wise."

"I'm pretty amazing like that," he said softly but smiled playfully and shook his head. "You deserve love. I want you to have it."

Siren just smiled at that, shaking her head gently. "What about you, Tarion? What have you been up to?"

"Me?" he chuckled as he shook his head. "Not much. I...I met an old friend here again. Andreus Kohl. We...he is a little older than me, but I knew him growing up."

Siren smiled warmly at that, nodding as she watched how he talked about him. "That's great news. Someone you know and trust."

He nodded, sipping his coffee. "Of course, I've heard...a lot of rumours here about him and what he gets up to."

"Bad things?" Siren asked with a slight frown at hearing his tone.

Victarion shrugged, meeting her eyes. "Nah, not bad, and especially not for my people. He's enjoying his freedom with some men."

"Ah," Siren glanced into her cup with a small smile, her fingernails tapping against it. "Well, why don't you make it clear you want to enjoy some of that - freedom with him?"

"Because I have been around humans too long and realised I don't like sharing either," he admitted and shook his head at himself. "Stupid selfishness."

"It's not selfish to want something special," Siren pointed out, shaking her head gently.

"Hm..." Victarion nodded, his eyes warm as he held her eyes. "Well, we will see, right? I might mention it to him if it...seems right."

Siren nodded with a warm smile, leaning to him to keep her voice low. "Victarion, you're the most on the ball person I know when it comes to judging emotion and people and what's right. You'll know when it's right."

"Thank you," he said, smiling as he held her eyes before reaching to touch her hand. "And I am glad I saw you today."

"Why?" she asked with a soft chuckle, shaking her head as she watched her friend with curiosity.

"Because I worried," Victarion said and shook his head. "Because I like seeing you. You usually have a way of carrying yourself if something is wrong...so it was good to see you were okay, even if you were bored out of your skull."

Siren laughed warmly at that, letting out a long breath. "Don't worry about me. I always find someway to land on my feet," she winked.

"True...but as humans say, even a cat only has nine lives," he pointed out, his hands wrapping around his mug.

Siren searched his eyes at the words, frowning slightly as she shook her head. "Tarion, is something wrong?"

"No," Victarion met her eyes before smiling weakly. "I...had a bad feeling. You know, one of the real ones I get when bad things are going to happen. When you were gone. A real bad one."

Siren frowned at that, reaching to touch Victarion's hand, squeezing it softly. "It's alright," she said gently. "We're all fine, I promise."
