Amynta had changed to a more...suitable outfit for her. It consisted of a lilac satin blouse, with matching shoes and black tight skirt. Her hair was free and straight and she wore makeup to reflect it was now after hours. Even her nails were matching. She supposed that being a woman past 30 around so many young people, you got a bit more careful with always being well respected. She looked around, studying the people...secretly looking for that one man in the crowd. She finally sighed and moved to order some white wine.

"On me," Alexion motioned to the server with a small smile. "And a brandy," he nodded before looking to Amynta with a small smile. "Those shoes are most definitely not more sensible."

She looked down at them, giving a small smile. High heels, with a strap over them...proper high mary janes actually. "Mmm...but they are ever so comfortable," she said and met his eyes. "And you have improved yourself as well, out of uniform."

He glanced down at himself, wearing breeches and a black shirt that was fastened with a lace rather than buttons. "Perhaps. At least I don't fall over in my clothes."

"Oh...attitude already?" she smiled, shaking her head as she let out a breath. "I do not fall when I wear things like this."

"Only when you're - not wearing things?" he finished, watching her with a small smile of amusement.

"Only when I wear the bloody uniform," she said and shook her head, with a rare warm smile.

"There you go, ruining my fantasies," he shook his head with a soft sigh, nodding his thanks as the drinks were brought over to them.

She smiled warmly, her eyes shining as she took the drink. "Mm..." she said and looked over at him. "Thank you for this."

He just shook his head with a small smile. "It's nothing. You had a bit of a day by the sounds of it."

She nodded as she watched him, her eyes taking him in, assessing, analysing. "As did you, I suspect..."

"Me? No. A boring one," Alexion replied easily, shaking his head with a frown. "A few sprains, a couple of cuts, a headache and a stomach virus."

"So what do you consider...interesting?" she asked with interest, leaning closer to watch his face.

"Not all that much," he admitted quietly, shaking his head with a frown. "Surgery? Mystery? Who can be sure these days."

"How about a mystery surgery?" she teased, shaking her head. "I do at times wonder what a doctor can do nowadays. So much technology..."

"You would be surprised," he replied with a sigh, shaking his head as he leant back. "New discoveries are made. New threats develop. Our tools are only so powerful."

She watched him for a long moment, her eyes shining. "Such as drink and smokes and every vice?"

"Well, yes, they manage with those," he laughed at that, shaking his head before knocking his drink back. "It's probably a big percentage of what I do."

"I'd say sorry, but I enjoy it too much," she said with satisfaction, smiling as she sipped her wine.

He glanced to her for a long moment before letting out a soft, shaking breath. "Me too," he laughed softly.

She smiled at the confession, arching an eyebrow. "Good," she said softly. "I was worried that the one man here that wasn't looking like a child would have the morals of a monk."

Alexion looked to her with surprise before laughing loudly, shaking his head, a grin coming to him just at the very idea, making his pale blue eyes warm up. "Now that is funny."

She met his eyes and shrugged. "Well, my drinking partners tend to be about the age of my son..."

"You know, I was starting to feel like the only one who thought like that," he leant to her, whispering.

Amynta shook her head, taking a breath. "You know, I have never been good at telling ages anyway. But mostly, they look like they belong in school."

"It's nice to finally have some adult company," he said softly to her, tapping his glass to hers.

She smiled warmly, tapping her glass to his as well. "So, tell me about yourself then..."

"Don't want to disappoint you, Amynta, I'm just a boring, old doctor," he shook his head, motioning for a refil. "Who happens to like your shoes, even if he lectured you about them."

"Boring old doctor with good taste then," she said lightly, her eyes warm as she finished her glass and motioned for another one as well. "I still want to hear about you. Boring or not."

Alexion searched her eyes for a long moment, taking a breath. He was wary with sharing himself with others. "I've been a doctor for a long time. I used to teach it at the Academy too. I can never make my mind up who is more aggravating. Students or patients."

"Students. Patients eventually either get better or die," she said innocently, holding his eyes for a long moment before smiling.

"What's more worrying is that the students I see are the ones that, odds say, will one day end up treating me at some point," he shivered.

She looked at him and reached to touch his hand. "I'd put you out of your misery first," she said, with a firm nod.

"I'll hold you to that. I've seen how they mess up," he whispered to her, but with a small smile.

Amynta smiled at that, nodding with understanding as she took a breath. "In which case, I must insist you remain my doctor."

"Hm, I suppose that would be just about acceptable," he whispered, watching her with a small smile of amusement.

She chuckled as she sipped her wine, her eyes shining with curiosity. "Where are you from?"

He looked down into his glass for a long moment, the crease in the middle of his brown deepening in a frown. "Vearon," he said softly.

She watched him with surprise, before smiling gently. "I am sorry, I assumed you were human..."

Alexion chuckled at that, shaking his head as he took a deep, heavy breath, tilting his head to look to her. "It's okay. Everyone thinks so. We're very similar. Although our insides have some differences."

She nodded, her eyes on him as she sipped her drink. "Such as?" she asked, with interest. "You know, for the day I have to put you out of your misery?"

"We have two hearts," he offered up, touching his chest for a moment. "We can live with only one, but we've got two."

She reached out on impulse, to feel, watching his face. "A good part of evolution. I wish humans had evolved that too."

"It is useful," he admitted, watching with a small smile. "We are far more sensitive to hot and cold than you though, if that helps."

Amynta nodded as she pulled her hand back. "Mm...see, I am not someone who gets cold easily. Or hot. Or if I do, I don't think my body cares."

"No doubt useful with more - daring outfits," he whispered with a smile, looking down over her pointedly.

She laughed warmly, shaking her head as she stroked her glass. "This is quite conservative, actually..."

"Is that because you think I am a quite conservative man?" he asked with a teasing smile, shaking his head.

"It's because I don't know what sort of man you are yet," she admitted, sipping her drink with a small smile.

"A grumpy one, most of my students and patients say," he whispered, smiling weakly as he watched her.

"I'd be grumpy too if I had to be around sick people and students all the time," she said without any regret, finishing her second glass of wine.

Alexion laughed brightly at that, shaking his head as he watched her with awe. "I like your honesty."

Amynta looked at him before nodding towards him. "And I like yours. I am frightfully honest for an Intelligence Officer."

"Yes, aren't you all supposed to be the opposite? Secretive, masked, mysterious?" he teased lightly.

"Sorry to disappoint, but I am mostly paperwork," she said easily, sitting back to watch his reaction.

"Why would that disappoint?" he asked with confusion, shaking his head.

She watched him before smiling gently. "That really, I am hardly a trained assassin or something mysterious and sexy like that."

"Yes, well this isn't a film or a holonovel. And I'm not a child," Alexion pointed out with a shake of his head, arching an eyebrow. "It's just not real life."

She watched him, her eyes studying him as she leant closer. "What is real life, really?"

"Well, mysterious, sexy assassins aren't for a start," he replied, shaking his head with a frown, searching her eyes.

She watched him before nodding, taking a breath. "Handsome doctors are though."

He watched her with surprise, letting out a long breath before smiling. "Are you talking about Kohl?" he said lightly, but he grinned.

Amynta looked at him for a moment before frowning. "First, he is a youth. Second, I think you have a better chance of pulling him than me...and third...well. No third."

"Perhaps I should give it a go, to test your theory?" he replied with a small smile, shaking his head, clearly not really meaning it.

"Well, whatever floats your boat..." she said and smiled, her eyes shining as she shook her head. "I...think you are a man displaced."

Alexion's smile faded at the words and he searched her eyes, trying to work out what she meant. "How?"

"You're like me. Not comfortable with all these...children running around. Apparently Starfleet is now for the very young," she said and met his eyes, seeing the way the smile had faded. She regretted that. And that was a relatively new sensation for her. Regret.

"That's one way of putting it," he laughed softly, shaking his head. "Perhaps I'm just getting old. Or maybe we should get our own ship, travel the stars."

She smiled at that, leaning closer. "Adventurers...travel in a small ship, maybe steal a Defiant or something...take a few trusted people with us..."

"I don't want to be a doctor anymore though," he shook his head with a soft laugh, shaking his head. "I'll take helm instead."

Amynta laughed and leant closer, resting her head on her hand as she held his eyes, her own sparkling. "And I will be in charge..."

"Will you now," he said softly with a small smile of amusement, shaking his head. "I have a feeling that you usually are anyway."

"I tend to be," she admitted and let out a breath, watching him. She looked around, at everyone there. Young faces. And she found it grating on her.

Alexion watched her for a long moment, holding his breath. "If it makes you feel better, I think you're a 'one of a kind'."

She met his eyes with surprise before smiling gently. "I will take it as a compliment. Would you like to go to mine? I have real drink there and...I am finding this place getting a bit too crowded."

"Sounds like a very good idea," Alexion said softly, nodding as he set the glass down and stretched. He smiled gently to her, touching her arm. He could see the change in her. She wasn't comfortable.

Amynta nodded, taking a breath as she relaxed at the touch. She smiled, her eyes softening as she took his arm. "Come along then."
