DeForest Kelley Humour Award

This award is meant to help us all remember that a bit of light-heartedness goes a long way; even in the face of danger.

DeForest Kelley was as much a comedian as he was an actor of the 20th century. Therefore, this is as much a tribute to him as it is an award to any recipient. This award can be given to any player in Obsidian Fleet.

Category: In character
Awarded: 30 times

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Greg Mitchell
22 Jun 2017 @ 7:09pm
I'm not sure what it is about Mitchell, but every post of his leaves me with a big smile on my face. His writing style is excellent and the posts are engaging while being sprinkled with light, sassy humor throughout.
Sub-commander S'anara Valdran
22 Jun 2017 @ 5:19pm
For the best PL i have read in a very very very long time.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Veri RN
20 Aug 2016 @ 4:52am
For standing up to Moot, sticking him in his place and being funny to boot.
Lieutenant Tuula Voutilainen M.D.
25 Feb 2016 @ 7:19pm
There's something about Tuula which isn't quite right but is hilarious at the same time. Her morbid nature seems a bit deadpan at first, but it's witty and brings a smile to our readers whenever we find her in strange situations.
Commander Allyndra illm Warraquim
12 Nov 2015 @ 12:36am
I think Allyndra deserves some recognition here for the role she plays in sickbay. The medical department has a cast full of oddballs, and having a "straight man" running the department allows odd characters like Olsam and Tuula to shine. I feel that Allyndra deserves recognition for her role as guild mother to the medical department. Costello had Abbott, and we have Allyndra to bounce our zaniness off of to make our characters look that much more ridiculous. The straight man is an undervalued role, but Allyndra does it well and keeps the department together.
Ensign K'os Beaumont
05 Sep 2015 @ 6:59pm
Copper is simply a hilarious little robot machine, and its unique interactions with humanoids makes it even more fun to read and interpret. It brings a smile to my face every time I get to read one of his JPs.
Lieutenant Oren Idris Ph.D.
05 Sep 2015 @ 6:59pm
Oren is one of those unintentionally-funny people, who tries his best to do his duties but there's always some little thing here or there that brings a smile to my face.

05 Sep 2015 @ 4:55pm
I have to say, that not many people wreck the main sim ship into another ship for comedic value. I laughed very hard when T did this with Wintrow and it gave me a bit of a SS Stingray moment. So for succeeding in making me laugh, I nominated T for this award.
Lieutenant JG Delainey Carlisle
06 Nov 2014 @ 2:18am
For some very dry humoured, pithy and witty one liners that are played very naturally within Delainey's posts, adding to the entertainment value and the realism of the post as well as the depth of the character.
Rear Admiral Lirha Saalm
10 Sep 2014 @ 3:05pm
For the way in which Lirha dealt with Holliday's treatment of the tribbles in 'Actions Unbecoming of a Captain'.
Lieutenant Aria Rice
10 Sep 2014 @ 2:41pm
For her NPC Vermeer Talbot: the post with his contrary reaction to a new born baby being brought home simply cracked me up. It was really refreshing to see an all out 'ew, get it away from me' reaction to a new born rather than the usual cutesie one.
Captain Jonathan Holliday
10 Sep 2014 @ 1:49pm
For seeing Holliday let his hair down and even have a moment of being lost for words in 'Liquid Musings'!
Lieutenant Asahi Kita
17 May 2014 @ 1:55pm
For the personal log D:. Every line just brought another chuckle as the slightly deranged ramblings of Asahi continued. It's reminded me why Personal logs are actually worth reading and writing, which on other sims they maybe weren't.

Thank you Shi!
Lieutenant Olsam Mott
09 Mar 2014 @ 9:28am
His interactions with other characters are always a delight to read. I especially enjoyed The New Family posted on Feb 17 where he interacts with Teth Mirr's sister. I also very much enjoyed the JP with Allyndra in the post Here Be Dragons, Mott is such a funny character. When he screams as Allyndra enters that secret room made me laugh. I can really picture this Bolian fully in my mind.
Lieutenant Teth Miir
06 Feb 2014 @ 11:09am
Teth has only been around for a short time but she has managed to already make me giggle especially with her latest posts! I look forward to seeing more of them!!!
Commander Luke Wyatt
08 Nov 2013 @ 11:22am
C'mon, he's had the funniest posts, and the most awkward quasi-romantic encounter, all month! =)
Lieutenant JG Jacrux
08 Nov 2013 @ 11:04am
For the constant amusement I get from seeing Jacrux's 'Romulan' reaction to human and other species reactions and actions.
Nesh Saalm
10 Aug 2013 @ 7:30pm
Never before has Nesh made me laugh as much as she has since Anne took over her. She's like a green firecracker you just want to hang out with! Her personal log of this month had me in stitches and I think she deserves a pat on the shoulder for that!
Amril
07 Jul 2013 @ 11:02pm
For such a quirky portrayal of our resident Vorta, which so often brings a smile when I read his interactions with other crew.
Lieutenant Dawn Meridian
07 Jul 2013 @ 11:01pm
For her quirky character insights of what is going on around her, and also for how she played against Watt in the post where she was asked to go on a blind date.

Lieutenant Commander Amynta Markos
04 May 2013 @ 2:36pm
Awarded for Markos' extremely dry and entertaining sense of humor, as well as her seeming indifference to any and everything. :)
Lieutenant Jared Nicholas
04 May 2013 @ 2:24pm
Because really, this is funny:

"He only had a type II phaser and a rather unorthodox, ancient, rare, and probably unauthorized Sig Sauer P-226 pistol. He'd picked it up a long time ago and felt it would be his best weapon if they ran into Borg. It was hard for them to assimilate lead."

04 Apr 2013 @ 5:06pm
"Invasion by Gadgets" is by far the funniest post I've read in my entire simming career. Admittedly, humour is more subjective than most things, but what's especially impressive is that the humour isn't stapled onto the post. The humour comes from right from the characters, and what happens when you put Lilou Peers in the same room as Maenad Panne. It doesn't hurt the scene also has: "cylinders floating in the air all through the room, glowing oddly, as little machines shot pellets at them."
Lieutenant Lilou Zaren

08 Feb 2013 @ 4:19pm
Because I can't read him and Athlen (or Nesh) without cracking up.

07 Jan 2013 @ 4:56pm
Rabe/Stone is surprisingly one of the funniest writers on the ship. I think we'd be way more dull without him, and I laugh my way through just about every JP we do. -Liyar
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Cyrus Kiwosk
07 Jan 2013 @ 4:50pm
I find his playing style to be full of humor and often want to pull out a line or twenty from his posts because they make me laugh so hard. Even in very serious situations, he seems to find a way to interject some humor.
Commander Andreus Kohl
03 Sep 2012 @ 10:56am
Some of his one liners that he's delivered, particularly in JPs, with a straight face and tone have been hilarious.
Command Master Chief Markum Quinn
06 Aug 2012 @ 11:55am
I very much enjoyed the humorous bantering in the post - Engineers Delight.
Lieutenant Aria Rice
05 Jul 2012 @ 11:29am
For the post "See What's Inside (The Mind of an Ensign)", noting the balance between touching character study and funny funny dialogue. Especially noteworthy are: little girl syndrome, calling the ship brainy, the MASSIVE guilt trip associated with hitting Rice, and her genuine concern that she might not be cleared for duty after the session!
