The friendship may be either with an NPC of the player's own design or with another player character or another Player's NPC. Geordi LaForge Obstacle Citation This award is presented to those who have overcome a disability in order to perform their duties. While this could be anything from being blind or deaf to being mute or missing both thumbs, this award is intended to recognize the achievements of those who have to overcome additional obstacles to get the job done. This award is for those individuals who have found clever and intriguing ways to counter their own personal handicaps in unique situations so as to equal or surpass the capabilities of able-bodied people around them. |

Kublai Khan Award This award is presented to an individual who plays a key part of developing new tactical combat maneuvers while in hand-to-hand combat; not to be confused with the ship-to-ship award, which is similar. Library Excellence Ribbon Awarded for the best writing style: clear, precise, and easy to follow - yet allows the story to flow smoothly and easily passed off to another crew member. Also includes spelling and grammar used properly. |

Marksmanship Ribbon For recognition of firearm abilities. Defense of the Federation and her Allies requires action. Proficiency with firearms is a valued skill and this ribbon is to recognize those individuals who prove exceptional in their use. |

Non-Player Character Award For the development of Non-Player Characters. The lives of our characters are in a setting populated by countless other people who are important to our featured individuals. This award marks the achievement of a player for his/her development of engaging, detailed NPCs who add realism and dimension to the simm. |

Gold Service Merit Awarded to crew who have served on the same vessel for two years and for each subsequent year thereafter. It is becoming increasingly common for players to extend their service beyond two years and, as such, we reward those stalwart contributors. |

POW Ribbon of Sacrifice Given to Starfleet officers who are captured by enemy forces for any length of time. |

Purple Heart Awarded to personnel who are injured in the line of duty. They do not have to be on their deathbed, or even have broken limbs and such. Basically, any crew member with an injury or injuries that a CO feels worth making record of should receive this award. |

Recruitment Award For recognition of recruitment successes. In order to secure a bright and long lasting future for Obsidian Fleet, there must always be the continual introduction of excited and eager new players. This award is to recognize those who have successfully recruited a new player to the simm who remains on that simm for a minimum period of 6 months. (OOC award, not available to the simm's CO) |

Ribbon of Merit This ribbon is used to symbolize the great sacrifice that the men and women of Starfleet endure. These officers often pay the price for defending the very principles of the United Federation of Planets. A player must receive a Purple Heart in order to qualify for this ribbon. Those who cannot perform their normal duties aboard their location of service due to ongoing medical conditions and wounds (both which must have originated in service) are eligible for this ribbon. |

Rose Award Awarded to the crew member who has made significant "romantic" character advancements. This has become an award in itself because romance gives a sense of realism and constant battle-only posts can get stale. Crew members who progress their characters in a romantic setting deserve recognition in this respect. |

Unsung Hero Medal For recognition of support actions in character. While heroism is often recognized, the silent and ever ready support crew can be overlooked. They are the ones who are always there to back us up, and their support makes the real difference when the heat is on. This award can only be applied to IC (in character) actions. |

Whoopi Goldberg Diversity Ribbon Awarded for the successful portrayal of a non-human character aboard a simulation. In the interest of diversity, this award is granted to individuals who have done an exemplary job writing and developing their non-human characters. Playing ruthless Romulans, killer Klingons, freeloading Ferengi, clever Cardassians, benevolent Bajorans, vigilant Vulcans, aspiring Andorians and any others, while doing so in an excellent fashion, is worthy of recognition. |

Zefram Cochrane Medal of Exploration Given to those officers who discover a noteworthy place or thing. This could be anything from a new and strange planet or moon, an abnormal nebula or subspace distortion, ancient ruins of a civilization long past, or anything else of this nature. As any Academy graduate should know, Zefram Cochrane was the first Terran to accomplish warp speed. Sample posts are required. |

Enlisted Commendation To recognize the contributions of Starfleet enlisted personnel and the players who write them. Starfleet's enlisted are the people behind the scenes making everything happen and everything work. In the Star Trek universe, they are the unsung heroes who are rarely seen and hardly recognized, yet they are characters too, with stories all their own. Despite the lack of precedence or guides, recipients of this award are players who play their enlisted character successfully and making them a joy to interact with. |

We love to hate the bad guy or the sinister mind plotting against our heroes. Creativity Award The Creativity Award is presented to those who come up with an outstanding idea during a mission. This can be in battle, a diplomatic meeting, medical crises, or even during a shore leave. There is no exacting criteria for the qualifications of this award. Exemplary Courage Medal Officers who put themselves in grave danger by going far beyond the normal call of duty qualify for this medal. Examples would be protecting a group of trapped/injured persons from enemy aggression; staying behind to ensure that the rest of the unit gets to safety and are not followed. NOTE: To achieve this award, the person nominated cannot simply be following their superior's orders. They must volunteer to carry out such acts. (Level 2 submission - sample post is required) |

Geneva Peace Ribbon This ribbon is presented to individuals who were responsible for attaining a peaceful resolution between two conflicting parties. The recipient may either be single-handedly responsible or have played a large part in the negotiations. The conflicting parties do not have to be Starfleet. The Geneva Peace Conference was a milestone in Terran diplomacy. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the events for which the award is being sought for is. Jonathan Archer Civilization Award This award is among the highest achievements in Starfleet. The recipient of this award is recognized as a key figure in introducing a new member species into the Federation. At the time of integration, the species cannot be in civil war. Patterson Ribbon of Excellence This is issued to Starfleet's medical officers who do something very special in the field. This can be awarded for curing a disease or medical condition, or for finding a new disease or ailment. Ribbon of Committment Given to a person who has truly put forth an indisputable amount of extra effort. This refers primarily to Out Of Character circumstances. Recruiting, pulling the crew together, posting, helping to fill in the "gaps", and helping maintain their ship's website are just a few of the things that could count toward this award. Scheherezade Award Named after the mythical heroine of the Arabian Nights, the Scheherezade awards the intricate story-crafting which is displayed within Obsidian Fleet. This goes beyond simple matters of spelling, grammar, and legibility; rather, it is for the obvious effort put into posts to make them enjoyable to read for all members of a platform and not just as enjoyment for the writers who created them - for telling a tale within a tale as they weave their own story within the greater plot of their simm. This award is an extension of the Level 1 Library Excellence Ribbon: the Scheherezade is awarded for use of excellent language for artistic purposes and not just for the sake of making language more complex. It focuses more on the intent, but also on the successful writing of supreme quality posts. (Level 2 submission - sample post is required) |

United Federation of Planets Pip Only a very few and elite people have ever attained this prestigious honor. To receive it, a person must single-handedly save the Federation from imminent destruction. This could be a great number of things. Over ninety-percent of the individuals who receive this pip died in the process of qualifying for its standards. This is a special pip which is to be worn opposite the ones already on an officer's collar. This tiny pip has the emblem of the UFP on it. (Level 2 submission - sample post is required) |

Outstanding Commanding Officer Award This award recognizes the efforts put forth by a Commanding Officer; as recognized by his/her Task Force Commanding Officer. Nomination and selection for this award is on a continual basis, and nominations should be turned into the Task Force Commanding Officer who will decide on the validity of the nomination. Nominations should contain a detailed explanation for the nomination. Once done, the nomination will forwarded to the awards director for awarding. |
