		DeForest Kelley Humour Award This award is meant to help us all remember that a bit of light-heartedness goes a long way; even in the face of danger. DeForest Kelley was as much a comedian as he was an actor of the 20th century. Therefore, this is as much a tribute to him as it is an award to any recipient. This award can be given to any player in Obsidian Fleet.		Details
		Departmental Service Badge: Command Awarded for service in the command department, including departments of Command, Strategic Operations, Flight Operations, and Communications. A player is eligible for the service badge of their department through commitment to their department over a period of 3 months. (Each departmental badge can only be awarded once per character.) 		Departmental Service Badge: Science Awarded for service in the science department, including departments of Science, Medical, and Counseling. 		Expeditionary Medal Awarded for participation in a simulation's first mission. The Expeditionary Medal is awarded to all crew members who have participated in the majority of the first operational mission of their simm (including the Commanding Officer). This award cannot be granted to participants in a Restricted Independent Operational mission.		Details
		Friendship Ribbon For the development of a meaningful character relationship. The friendship may be either with an NPC of the player's own design or with another player character or another Player's NPC. The friendship should be an unfolding story over the course of multiple posts and impact the character(s) lives significantly. (*romantic relationships not included- please refer to the Rose Award in those instances)		Details
		Geordi LaForge Obstacle Citation This award is presented to those who have overcome a disability in order to perform their duties. While this could be anything from being blind or deaf to being mute or missing both thumbs, this award is intended to recognize the achievements of those who have to overcome additional obstacles to get the job done. This award is for those individuals who have found clever and intriguing ways to counter their own personal handicaps in unique situations so as to equal or surpass the capabilities of able-bodied people around them. 		Good Conduct Medal For exceptional performance of one's duties. This medal denotes a committed and dependable individual both on and off duty.		Details
		Heart of the Tiger Awarded to the crew member who writes supreme battle posts, making their posts enjoyable and exciting to read in the heat of battle. This award is given to one naval crew member and one marine crew member each time it is awarded, if applicable.		Details
		Kublai Khan Award This award is presented to an individual who plays a key part of developing new tactical combat maneuvers while in hand-to-hand combat; not to be confused with the ship-to-ship award, which is similar. Kublai Khan was a great Terran Chinese military strategist and warrior of the 13th century. Sample posts are required.		Details
		Library Excellence Ribbon Awarded for the best writing style: clear, precise, and easy to follow - yet allows the story to flow smoothly and easily passed off to another crew member. Also includes spelling and grammar used properly.		Details
		Marksmanship Ribbon For recognition of firearm abilities. Defense of the Federation and her Allies requires action. Proficiency with firearms is a valued skill and this ribbon is to recognize those individuals who prove exceptional in their use.		Details
		Medal of Honor This medal is awarded for the showing of bravery and valor in the heat of combat. Recipients of this medal can serve in any department.		Details
		Meritorious Newcomer of the Month Award This award will be given to the newcomer who makes themselves known and puts in the most effort to make their character a valuable addition.		Details
		Most Improved Player of the Month This award will be given to the player who shows the most improvement from the previous month. Truly an award to be cherished, as it is a result of a lot of time and hard work.		Details
		Non-Player Character Award For the development of Non-Player Characters. The lives of our characters are in a setting populated by countless other people who are important to our featured individuals. This award marks the achievement of a player for his/her development of engaging, detailed NPCs who add realism and dimension to the simm.		Details
		Gold Service Merit Awarded to crew who have served on the same vessel for two years and for each subsequent year thereafter. It is becoming increasingly common for players to extend their service beyond two years and, as such, we reward those stalwart contributors.		Details
		Merit of Time Served Awarded to crewmembers who have served on the ship for one year. This award is non-cumulative.		Details
		Service Citation Awarded to a member of the crew who has served with the ship for at least 6 months. This award is non-cumulative.		Details
		Outstanding Volunteer Award For the player who makes every effort to find significant ways to lend a hand to the simm's command staff. Performs excellent support work to the best of his/her abilities. Reserved for out of character contributions only, as such efforts differ in scope and often involve a player's personal time commitment beyond the game play. (Not as prestigious as the Ribbon of Commitment)		Details
		Plot Development Citation For developing the current plot line and making it original and unexpected yet not unbelievable. In other words, the crew member who throws the best "monkey wrenches" into the plot to make it interesting, but not totally off center.		Details
		POW Ribbon of Sacrifice Given to Starfleet officers who are captured by enemy forces for any length of time.		Details
		Professional Merit Awarded to the player who has developed his/her character with considerable talent, making that character a joy to interact with.		Details
		Purple Heart Awarded to personnel who are injured in the line of duty. They do not have to be on their deathbed, or even have broken limbs and such. Basically, any crew member with an injury or injuries that a CO feels worth making record of should receive this award.		Details
		Recruitment Award For recognition of recruitment successes. In order to secure a bright and long lasting future for Obsidian Fleet, there must always be the continual introduction of excited and eager new players. This award is to recognize those who have successfully recruited a new player to the simm who remains on that simm for a minimum period of 6 months. (OOC award, not available to the simm's CO)		Details
		Ribbon of Merit This ribbon is used to symbolize the great sacrifice that the men and women of Starfleet endure. These officers often pay the price for defending the very principles of the United Federation of Planets. A player must receive a Purple Heart in order to qualify for this ribbon. Those who cannot perform their normal duties aboard their location of service due to ongoing medical conditions and wounds (both which must have originated in service) are eligible for this ribbon. 		Rose Award Awarded to the crew member who has made significant "romantic" character advancements. This has become an award in itself because romance gives a sense of realism and constant battle-only posts can get stale. Crew members who progress their characters in a romantic setting deserve recognition in this respect.		Details
		Service Accommodation Awarded to the crew member who performs his/her character's job and advances above and beyond the job description they were "hired" to follow.		Details
		Technical Medal Awarded to the crew member who follows the technical standards of the Star Trek universe, incorporating them into their posts with nearly flawless precision.		Details
		Tour of Duty: Borg This ribbon is issued to all participating players at the end of a mission that posts the simm to the borders or interior regions of Borg space.		Details
		Tour of Duty: Breen This ribbon is issued to all participating players at the end of a mission that posts the simm to the borders or interior regions of Breen space.		Details
		Tour of Duty: Cardassian This ribbon is issued to all participating players at the end of a mission that posts the simm to the borders or interior regions of Cardassian space.		Details
		Tour of Duty: Deep Space This ribbon is issued to all participating players at the end of a mission that posts the simm to deep space.		Details
		Tour of Duty: Dominion This ribbon is issued to all participating players at the end of a mission that posts the simm to the borders or interior regions of Dominion space.		Details
		Tour of Duty: Ferengi This ribbon is issued to all participating players at the end of a mission that posts the simm to the borders or interior regions of Ferengi space.		Details

		Training Badge For completing and passing a course of study. The training badge recognizes a player for completing and passing a course of study in Obsidian Fleet's Academy or in a ship's specific training program. This award is not to be granted to Commanding Officers for passing Command Academy and/or the CO Refresher Course.		Details
		Unit Citation Awarded to the crew member who shows considerable talent in working with other crew members to create a winning plot line worthy of the vessel's reputation.		Details
		Unsung Hero Medal For recognition of support actions in character. While heroism is often recognized, the silent and ever ready support crew can be overlooked. They are the ones who are always there to back us up, and their support makes the real difference when the heat is on. This award can only be applied to IC (in character) actions.		Details
		Whoopi Goldberg Diversity Ribbon Awarded for the successful portrayal of a non-human character aboard a simulation. In the interest of diversity, this award is granted to individuals who have done an exemplary job writing and developing their non-human characters. Playing ruthless Romulans, killer Klingons, freeloading Ferengi, clever Cardassians, benevolent Bajorans, vigilant Vulcans, aspiring Andorians and any others, while doing so in an excellent fashion, is worthy of recognition. 		Zefram Cochrane Medal of Exploration Given to those officers who discover a noteworthy place or thing. This could be anything from a new and strange planet or moon, an abnormal nebula or subspace distortion, ancient ruins of a civilization long past, or anything else of this nature. As any Academy graduate should know, Zefram Cochrane was the first Terran to accomplish warp speed. Sample posts are required.		Details
		Civilian Commendation This award is for those civilians who play another side to Star Trek. This award should be awarded to civilians who make their character a joy to interact with and add another dimension to the game.		Details
		Enlisted Commendation To recognize the contributions of Starfleet enlisted personnel and the players who write them. Starfleet's enlisted are the people behind the scenes making everything happen and everything work. In the Star Trek universe, they are the unsung heroes who are rarely seen and hardly recognized, yet they are characters too, with stories all their own. Despite the lack of precedence or guides, recipients of this award are players who play their enlisted character successfully and making them a joy to interact with.		Details
		Academic Honors Award Awarded for successful completion of Galileo's competency exam, and for demonstrating strong knowledge and academic ability within our simulation.		Details
		Antagonist Award This award denotes a player's exceptionally well crafted villain who has contributed to a simm's plot line convincingly over a series of posts. We love to hate the bad guy or the sinister mind plotting against our heroes. Without these dedicated evil, twisted, or simply misguided souls setting out against our protagonists, there might not be much story to tell! (Level 2 submission - sample post is required)		Details
		Community Builder Citation This crew member is always going out of his/her way to help the crew connect with one another and knit the simm much closer together Awarded to anyone who makes a constant indisputable effort to be welcoming to new players and encouraging to long-standing members. 		Creativity Award The Creativity Award is presented to those who come up with an outstanding idea during a mission. This can be in battle, a diplomatic meeting, medical crises, or even during a shore leave. There is no exacting criteria for the qualifications of this award. (Level 2 submission - sample post is required)		Details
		Exemplary Courage Medal Officers who put themselves in grave danger by going far beyond the normal call of duty qualify for this medal. Examples would be protecting a group of trapped/injured persons from enemy aggression; staying behind to ensure that the rest of the unit gets to safety and are not followed. NOTE: To achieve this award, the person nominated cannot simply be following their superior's orders. They must volunteer to carry out such acts. (Level 2 submission - sample post is required)		Details
		Flying Cross Presented to a Flight Control Officer for exhibiting outstanding flying abilities. While not absolutely necessary, people who receive this award typically have to fly their ship manually either in battle situations or emergencies. 		Geneva Peace Ribbon This ribbon is presented to individuals who were responsible for attaining a peaceful resolution between two conflicting parties. The recipient may either be single-handedly responsible or have played a large part in the negotiations. The conflicting parties do not have to be Starfleet. The Geneva Peace Conference was a milestone in Terran diplomacy. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the events for which the award is being sought for is. 		Humanitarian Cross In recognition of efforts to relieve the suffering of any person(s) within or outside of Federation borders. A detailed description of the reasons for the nomination is required. (Level 2 submission)		Details
		Intelligence Prowess Award This award is given to an intelligence officer who has gone out of their way to protect and better Obsidian Fleet. This could be from uncovering a spy, obtaining pertinent information which protected their own ship, Task Force, or Fleet as a whole, etc. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the situation is required. 		Joint Service Commendation Awarded to Starfleet/SFMC personnel who participate in a joint mission with other simms. While no sample post is required, a general overview of the mission is required - along with acknowledgement of the other ship(s) which participated. (Level 2 submission)		Details
		Jonathan Archer Civilization Award This award is among the highest achievements in Starfleet. The recipient of this award is recognized as a key figure in introducing a new member species into the Federation. At the time of integration, the species cannot be in civil war. The crew member will have been at the forefront of any contact with this species. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the situation is required. (Level 2 submission)		Details
		Montgomery Scott Engineering Award This is given to those who develop useful new technologies, engineering-oriented upgrades, techniques and so forth. Creativity and innovation are attributes that help to earn this award. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the situation is needed. (Level 2 submission)		Details
		Patterson Ribbon of Excellence This is issued to Starfleet's medical officers who do something very special in the field. This can be awarded for curing a disease or medical condition, or for finding a new disease or ailment. Dr. Colin Patterson was a 21st century Terran physician from Scotland who specialized in the study of bone diseases. (Level 2 submission - sample post is required)		Details
		Ribbon of Committment Given to a person who has truly put forth an indisputable amount of extra effort. This refers primarily to Out Of Character circumstances. Recruiting, pulling the crew together, posting, helping to fill in the "gaps", and helping maintain their ship's website are just a few of the things that could count toward this award. Truly, this is one award to cherish when received. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the events for which the award is being sought for is. (Level 2 submission)		Details
		Ribbon of Compassion This ribbon is for those in the Counseling field. The awardee must have truly gone out of their way to help out a fellow crew member. This encompasses more than just a couple of counseling sessions. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the entire situation is required. (Level 2 submission)		Details
		Scheherezade Award Named after the mythical heroine of the Arabian Nights, the Scheherezade awards the intricate story-crafting which is displayed within Obsidian Fleet. This goes beyond simple matters of spelling, grammar, and legibility; rather, it is for the obvious effort put into posts to make them enjoyable to read for all members of a platform and not just as enjoyment for the writers who created them - for telling a tale within a tale as they weave their own story within the greater plot of their simm. This award is an extension of the Level 1 Library Excellence Ribbon: the Scheherezade is awarded for use of excellent language for artistic purposes and not just for the sake of making language more complex. It focuses more on the intent, but also on the successful writing of supreme quality posts. (Level 2 submission - sample post is required)		Details
		Silver Star The crew member who demonstrates supreme postings, posts often, and plays his/her character "to the hilt" will receive this award. Arguably considered one of the highest honors a crew member can receive. (Level 2 submission)		Details
		Tactical Superiority Award Presented to individuals who play a major role (or even solely) develop new tactics and/or combat maneuvers while in ship-to-ship combat; not to be confused with the hand-to-hand award, which is similar. These must prove to be very efficient and worthy of much attention. An example would be the Picard Maneuver. (Level 2 submission - sample post is required)		Details
		United Federation of Planets Pip Only a very few and elite people have ever attained this prestigious honor. To receive it, a person must single-handedly save the Federation from imminent destruction. This could be a great number of things. Over ninety-percent of the individuals who receive this pip died in the process of qualifying for its standards. This is a special pip which is to be worn opposite the ones already on an officer's collar. This tiny pip has the emblem of the UFP on it. (Level 2 submission - sample post is required)		Details
		Character of the Year This award is given annually each year and is decided upon by nominations from ship CO's. (Level 3 submission)		Details
		James T. Kirk CO of the Year This award is given annually each year and is decided upon by nominations from Task Force COs and Task Group COs. One CO is chosen from the nominations received. (Level 3 submission)		Details
		Sim of the Year This is used to recognize the Obsidian Fleet sim which has done its very best to embody the spirit of the Fleet in the crew's actions both in character and out of character. This includes postings; recruiting for the sim, Task Force, and Fleet; advertising for all of the above; etc. (Level 3 submission)		Details
		William Riker XO of the Year This award is given annually each year and is decided upon by nominations from ship COs. One XO is chosen from the nominations received to receive the award. (Level 3 submission)		Details
		Outstanding Commanding Officer Award This award recognizes the efforts put forth by a Commanding Officer; as recognized by his/her Task Force Commanding Officer. Nomination and selection for this award is on a continual basis, and nominations should be turned into the Task Force Commanding Officer who will decide on the validity of the nomination. Nominations should contain a detailed explanation for the nomination. Once done, the nomination will forwarded to the awards director for awarding.		Details
