| Physical Description | Jared is a bit on the short side and he is rather lean, but all of his 160 pounds is solid muscle. He works out regularly and it shows. When not in uniform he prefers the colors silver and black. He is very easy on the eyes, but doesn't fully realize it. The only potential mar to his appearance are twin scars above each temple where he was experimented on when he was a young teen at the hand of the Orions. He has a quick almost furtive walk. His eyes still sometimes get a haunted look about them |

Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Jared is a young man who has been through a great deal. His parent' ship was attacked by Orion pirates when he was a young boy. He was forced to become a sex/pleasure slave. The Orion's cared little about his personal well being as long as he produced credits for them His boyish good looks made him quite popular with some of the Orion's clients and he was put through some unspeakable atrocities. His brothers died in captivity. His mind was also surgically altered making him telepathic-though that was not the original intent. While he has overcome and dealt with his early teen years he still has an occasional nightmare about it and has not quite put that behind him. On the surface he is a bit introverted unless you get him talking about languages, navigation, old earth jets, or get him in the holedeck. He has the ability to see and think three dimensionally which makes him a natural at 3d chess or such tasks as navigation. He has issues with emotional intimacy(though not the physical kind) yet at the same time is a helpless romantic. |

| Personal History | Jared was born to John and Mary Grayson in 2366 who owned a small but quick merchant vessel. They made a good living carrying high quality goods, such as silk, diamonds, and similar goods. He had two older brothers Eugene and Heath. Each of the boys was given duties to perform on the ship. Since even at an early age Jared showed an aptitude for languages he was in charge of the communications duties for their small craft. Heath was givien navigational duties while Eugene helped hod the ship together. When he was 13 their vessel was attacked and boarded. His parents were killed outright by the Orion pirates that took the ship while he and his brothers were kept alive. Though it might have been better if they had been killed with the parents. They became sex slaves, unwilling partners to any who would pay the price, regardless of gender or deviance they practiced. Eugene and Heath died in captivity and Jared might have joined them. His uncanny ability with languages drew the attention of one of his captors and as they explored this, he was kept back from the worst offenders among the Orion's clients. In order to enhance his abilities the Orion's experimented on his brain. The surgery they performed failed in its intended purpose at least directly but it did greatly increase his psi abilities. He is at least as powerful as a Betazoid and on very rare, life and death occasions he was able to throw someone away from him with his mind. When he was sixteen a miracle occurred. He was rescued. He was the oldest of 12 kids that were rescued by the man. Rhiell, a Vulcan "merchant" who was more Romulan by nature, was able to reach him through a meld in order to bring him out of a dissociative fugue. For some reason, Rhiell ended up quite attached to the boy, and ordered his ship's doctor (Arrlae) to fix him up as good as possible. While Rhiell and his crew of vagabonds were no counselors or therapists, they were accepting, and they treated Jared like a sentient being instead of a piece of meat. Rhiell eventually gave him the job of Chief Commnuciations Officer, recognizing the boy's innate skill and teaching him to use the systems. Jared stayed on board the ship for three years, before he decided to disembark on an outlying Federation outpost, saying goodbye to Rhiell (much to the Vulcan's regret, which highly confused Rhiell himself, but kaiidth as the Surakians say). He took his innate abilities, what Rhiell had taught him and found himself at the very top of his class in languages and in the top 15% in his secondary field of Communations |
