Mission: Episode 06 - Legend of Souls
Location: Lyshan III - Surface Mining Extraction Facility/Terraforming Facility
Timeline: MD 03 - 1550 hrs

Previously, on Facility Inspection (Part 3)...

"Interview? Are we being held for a crime?" Taurus said with a soft drawl, but there was a slight glimmer of amusement in the manager's eyes. "You may speak to who you wish. However, for now, you may only inspect the equipment that is on this level and the surface. No outsiders are to go down into the actual mines for the time being."

Dea turned to Luke moving over to his position to speak quietly, "Yes I think that would be useful. Take who you need to but be careful and keep a comm channel open to me. While you do that I'll check in with Galileo."

And Now, the Continuation...

[ON]

Mialin's attention shifted to Taurus, "No you aren't being held for any crimes. We simply want to help you get to the bottom of this. To do that we need to speak with your people." She made it very clear that she understood what he was saying. Addressing the rest of the team, "Inspect what they will allow you to."

Taurus nodded as he took a step back, his corded brows lifted with an expectation for them to move past and speak to the miners. He remained still though. He wanted to stay put and keep an eye on what was going on and being said.

After hearing the miner's words Morris felt cold. A breeze that came from nowhere. Was this what they were thinking of the strange 'feelings' coming from the rocks. He shook away any thoughts he had about 'spirits'. "I would like to assist in any interviews," Oliver said.

Dea nodded to Oliver, "That's fine with me." At the moment she just wanted to get some answers. So far she didn't like fact there were more questions than information to answer those questions.

"Ma'am, if it's alright with you, I'd like to take a look at the terraforming equipment too." Asahi held what Seeker had told him with a grain of salt, but he wasn't going to discount the miner's warnings. If the rocks were disagreeing with something, getting as close as he could to the equipment involved with them was as good a start as any. "Maybe, after we're done poking at the surface-level equipment, I could take a team over to take a look, if that's alright with you."

The Cadet remained right at the Lieutenant's side. Ready to request permission to assist the Engineer as soon as he had received an answer from the team leader.

Turning to Asahi, "Any answers we can get will be useful. You're aware of the parameters we've been given. Other than that, I'm going to let you get to work."

"Thank you Ma'am." Asahi nodded curtly. The tech specs on the equipment he knew the mines were equipped with wasn't nearly as helpful as they could have been, and nothing was a substitute for hands-on inspecting. It was unfortunate, however, as they probably had a limited amount of time to go about this, and he hadn't the foggiest idea on who to drag along with him. Sheepishly, he turned toward some of the more willing-looking members of the team. "... Anyone feel like getting their hands dirty?"

Taban immediately raised his hand, moving even closer to the Engineer and answered "Aye, Lieutenant. Right here. Happy to."

Asahi nodded, gesturing off toward the other facility. "Then let's move out."

Interview Subteam

"That one," Draia Thero interjected to the remaining Starfleet team members. From her perch on the large drill, the Cardassian raised an arm and waggled a finger in circles at Luke Wyatt. "That one can interview me. Or talk to me. Or interview me. He doesn't look as delicate as the rest."

Luke looked behind him to see if anyone was standing behind him but no one was, looking dumb founded and slightly confused as if he should take what the Cardassian had just said as an insult or compliment he nodded "Well I guess we should get to it? Is there anywhere you want to go before telling me?" He asked hoping that giving the Cardassian control over certain aspects would make him more suseptable by his questions.

Seeker stood there watching them; his assistant Madeline stood behind him slightly saying nothing nor giving him any input or advice and his service dog laid at his feet. He murmured, "The rocks, the rocks will lead them to the answers I am sure... yes.. sure, very sure..."

"I guess the rocks it is" He said scanning the group for any inspiration.. anything. Turning to the cardassian who had pointed him out of the crowed he smiled "Lead the way"

Although uncertain about where to lead the Starfleeter, Draia Thero hopped off the drill and she sauntered towards another storage room. "What is it," she asked back, looking back over her shoulder, "You want to know about, exactly?"

Seeker walked methodically over to Draia with his usual slight hitch due to his metal left leg. Sapphire followed beside him but Madeline let him go without following, he needed to socialize more without her assistance anyway. He looked at Draia and said, "We should show them the last spot where we were digging Dray-Dray. Yes, yes we should show them... maybe that would be best yes?"

"Yeah," Draia replied, and then as if she had only then really thought about it, she said, "Yeah!" again with greater emphasis. "That'll show them."

"No one's going down into the mines," Taurus said firmly, shaking his head as he pointed over to them and raised his voice enough for them to hear. "Starfleet, you can ask what you want, but you're not going down there, not yet."

Luke looked to Taurus and nodded "That's fine, we can conduct our investigations anywhere you'd like as I said we are only here to figure things out for ourselves" he replied defensibly trying to give his best compassionate voice.

"We'll abide by that," Dea made it clear they wouldn't go down into the mines. It made her wonder though what made him so hesitant. Something she'd report to her superiors once they retuned to the ship.

Seeker sighed deeply and shook his head, T-man was always such a hard headed fool who thought himself a leader, but was far from it.

Oliver observed Seeker's face and body language. The way he acted around Taurus and the others was clearly a sense of annoyance as if he knew something they did not. Oliver liked the man, almost was attracted by his attitude. Hell, for a Cardassian he was down right cute.

"All right, then," Draia said. After her earlier enthusiasm, her timbre hovered somewhere between boredom and annoyance. She backed away from the Starfleeters until she had pressed her back against a wall. "You said you had questions, did you?"

Dea nodded, "Yes. We've said we're willing to help you yet you act like you don't want us here. However to truly help you we need more information on what is happening. Can you give me more insight into what you've witnessed?"

Seeker just shrugged to himself. The situation between his fellow miners who were Cardassian and the Starfleet personnel was just too much drama for him. He knelt down besides his service dog, Sapphire, and petted her just waiting for something to happen.

"I'm not a Starfleet database," Draia said. Her tone was unnecessarily defensive. "You can't simply access information or insight from out of inside me. All I can tell you is what I've seen. I'm not even sure if seen-- what I've experienced. We've told you about the rock that won't drill. There's also-- there's sometimes-- in the quiet-- it's like a flutter in your peripheral vision" --Draia rolled her eyes from side to side-- "Or maybe it's like it's behind your eyes?"

Terraforming Equipment Subteam

Asahi hadn't expected the building the terraforming equipment was in to be so cramped. With older equipment, however, came unexpected surprises that he should have studied up on, especially after they had their go at the surface equipment before getting around to the terraforming facility. "... Alright, we should spread out in this vicinity. There's no reason a bunch of us should be hovering over the same machine, but we should stay close too, in case something happens. If anyone can make sense of some of this, be my guest and start tinkering."

Shrugging, the engineer wandered toward what he thought was an atmospheric pressurizer. "... Shoulda brought a miner with us."

Stace, tricorder in hand, saddled up next to Asahi. She raised an eyebrow and shot him a glance. "They say that science and engineering go hand in hand, but I have to admit Cardassian technology seems to lack a finesse and familiarity that I'm used to." She checked her tricorder readings and sighed. "But there's something to be said for the crude design. It gets the job done. No all we have to determine is if there are any side-effects." The Trill now turned to Asahi fully. "How does it look to you?"

"Well, I'll admit that Cardassian tech is also usually a little more maintained than this, so we're both at a similar learning curve." Asahi walked himself around the large piece of equipment, examining it for any form of dents or corrosion, before opening the latch and peering in. "... Iiiiit looks alright. I've got a pneumatic system of some sort, which is odd to see, even in Cardassian tech. Pneumatics like this haven't been used for years..."

Hopping up, Asahi wiggled himself further into the area, finding himself a nice little crawlspace to continue his examinations. "... This pressurizer... or I think it's a pressurizer, must be connected to the whole system. There are a lot of flaws that could come from an outdated pneumatic system. It'd also depend on if they're using water or something else in their system... mold could crop up, any potential hazardous chemicals from fumes could easily get into the whole of this atmospheric system... but, that would mean that they aren't maintaining their pressurizers... or any of their system at all, and the only way to know that is for me to get down and dirty with it all."

Wiggling himself into the opposite direction, he smiled at her, resting his elbow on the entryway, and his chin on his arm. "I'm more than happy to help you out with anything you'd need by way of readings or anything like that, but that'd take both our eyes down in here. It's a little cozy, but I think we can both squish in if you wanna take a look."

It didn't take too long before Asahi had poked his head out of the opening of the odd machine, searching around for the other member of their team. "... Taban! Hey, come on over here a second. I need someone to turn this thing on so I can see it in action."
