Mission: Episode 14 - Statecraft
Location: Kreanus Colony - Deck 3, Transporter Room
Timeline: MD 01 - 1445 hrs

[ON]

For the colonists of Kreanus, it was simply another day and another deployment which their workers and fleet personnel had to oversee. There was little joy or ceremony behind the Galileo crew's pending departure from the colony, and the few colonists who had knowledge of their mission mostly thought it a lost cause. The Klingon High Council was notoriously difficult to appease, let alone bargain with, and the chances of even making it to Qo'noS and being granted an audience were thought of as infinitesimal.

While the Nova-class' crew marched through the corridors on Deck 3 towards the primary transporter room, however, their demeanor and attitude didn't quite echo the sentiments of those who watched them pass. For many in the Starfleet crew, it was a chance to be back in space and working towards their path to freedom. A freedom which perhaps many thought they deserved and were entitled to.

The entrance to the transporter room parted and the chamber soon became crowded with both Klingon and Federation personnel. Two large transporter pads -- each with a capacity of six persons -- were cycling through their functions and beaming aboard the remaining crew members of the assigned vessel. As soon as a group of personnel stepped up and took their position, they were encompassed by a glowing red shimmer of particles and dematerialized until their molecular bodies reached their destination and were reassembled. Klingon transporter technology was quite speedy and effective, mostly due to its inherent development as a means to board enemy vessels. In only a few minutes, over fifty crew had been transported while the rest waited in an orderly line enforced by the Reman guards who were present.

Small packs of provisions and clothing were given to each Starfleet crew member before they stepped up onto one of the two pads. They contained a simple sonic toothbrush, a blanket, and an old Starfleet uniform from the late-2350s all wrapped inside of a sealed black bag. Each pack was expected to last its owner the entire duration of the trip....assuming they survived the journey.

"Step forward," instructed one of the Remans who moved the line along in a prompt fashion. He methodically retrieved a pack from the nearby crate and shoved it into the chest of the next person in line before pointing to their designated transporter area.

Miraj was physically knocked back as the large, almost bat-like, humanoid shoved the bag into her arms and she had to step lively to not fall over. She was glad to be off this ice cube and onto a ship. She hated sleeping planetside. She couldn’t get onto the new vessel fast enough. “Last one there gets to pump the bilge,” she laughed, and glanced at the transporter operator. “Now!” she urged. “Don’t wait for those slow pokes!”

The Klingon operator at the transporter console didn't have any qualms with expediency. He'd found the Federation manner of organizing and assembling to be inefficient, slow, and tiresome. That one of their personnel seemed anxious to proceed was a mild relief within the monotony of his current duties -- a small yet brief reprise that brought the tiniest of smirks across his lips. "Your wish will be granted. And I hope to never see your crew again," he remarked, then quickly initiated the transporter sequence on the console with his fingertips.

Senior Chief Petty Officer Caine arrived with his young family into the transporter room. He saw the Operator and said to Lt (jg) Stephanie Fraiser “Well thankfully we’re out of here finally!” He said rubbing his ribs that still ached from his last bashing.

Stephanie nodded giving him a gentle hug "Wonder what's in those packages?"

"Probably clothes food and personal hygiene products is my guess." Martin said as he passed one to Stephanie, that he expected would fit her in the right colour. "I bet they're old and don't feel as good on. I guess cleaning each shift will need to happen. Starting to wished the Klingons would let us get all our stuff. Though hopefully we can maybe get it back once we can contact USS Farragut.

JJ looked round wide eyed while gripping blankie safe in her dadda's arms though her thumb snuck into her mouth "We go ship dadda?"

"Yes JJ this time we're going by transporter which means no seeing the stars this time until after we get to our Quarters. Promise to get a window near your crib so you can watch them like you did on USS Farragut.

Mimi had never seen Remans before so when she got to the one giving out the packs she curiously looked him over, her nose and ears twitching several times. The Reman stared back for a few seconds before slamming the pack into her and pushing her towards the transport pad.

Aren stepped onto the pad, accepting the package that was thrust into his hands. He nodded a thank you as he moved with the rest of the crew, relief spreading across his face that the crew was finally getting off the planet. He tucked the package under his arm and waited patiently for the beam out procedure.

Amaranai was angry that the shuttle had been discovered and tossed aside. It had been their one chance to get away from the Klingons and attempt a proper rescue as soon as they were out of the nebula. But now she and Luke were just part of the crew, hopefully looking like the other Federation officers enough to keep their captors from realizing they had a few extra people on board. A pack of supplies was pushed into her arms as she waited her turn. She stepped onto the pad and was disintegrated before being rematerialized on a pad on the ship.

Quickly making her way off the pad so others could continue to transport, Amaranai made her way along with the rest of the crew as they exited the transporter room.

Allyndra was standing there making sure that they had everyone, the roster being checked as each group came to board. She had surreptitiously added Amarani and Wyatt. She figured by the time anyone really double checked anything, if they did it would not matter. They would be long away. While Ban was now commanding officer for now, as senior most last surviving Galileo member she had been one of the first off and she was determined she would be the last one off Kreanus, of the people that were going. It was a part of that tradition to make sure no one got left behind.

Swallowing as she held her pack close, Jaehyun closed her eyes and stepped up to the transporter pad. She'd only been here a handful of weeks - barely a month before the Galileo crew arrived, and then the space of time 'til now - and yet it felt as if she had already spent a lifetime on Kreanus. To be free now - even if it was stepping into uncertainty - was difficult to grasp.

Resisting the urge to return the hateful glower tossed his way, Torgeir hefted the strap of his kit-bag over his shoulder and stepped up onto the pad.

Varro stepped into the transporter room feeling slightly off balance. This was the first time he'd be without his assistant. She'd chosen to stay back and help the colonists.

Varro accepted his pack, happy that he was finally leaving this horrible place that was now home to his cousin Braxton and his Assistant.

"You alright?" Said a familiar voice.

Varro turned to find Eelim taking a pack too. He'd grown fond of the Cardassian over the last little while, they had even become friends. The man was intelligent and Varro genuinely enjoyed talking with him. "I am well," Varro said as he searched the room for his other friend. The three had spent quite a bit of time together over the last bit.

Eviess looked up as she picked up her pack and found Eelim and Varro. Varro she knew well from a distant past. He'd helped her greatly. She was glad to see him once again. Each took turns stepping onto the pad and each happy to be off this God forsaken world.
