Personal History Soral was born on Vulcan into a family of scientists who named him after Soral, a Vulcan philosopher and distant relative, a man who’s Philosophies on passion and emotion caused him to leave Vulcan for a time and make his home with the Romulans. Later his sons came back to Vulcan and adopted a more Surak mentality. Soral's father was a professor at the prestigious Vulcan Science Academy and his mother was an Admiral in Starfleet’s Science and Research facility located on Vulcan. It was expected, by both S’Tan and Entaris that all their children would go into the science field as well and in the end all but two did.

Soral grew up feeling like a bit of an outcast as he didn’t look like the rest of the Vulcans and as a result he spent most of his time as an outsider looking in. He tended to read, to study history and he was indeed drawn to archeology which made his parents proud. As a child he was bullied because of his lack of Vulcan ears and that manifested itself in his inability to form close friendships as he does not trust easy. As a child he excelled in his studies and became a straight A student earning marks in the high 90s. His social isolation as a child drove him to the Vulcan temples and there he meditated and studied. One temple priest, an Albino man, took a liking to him and helped guide him in his Vulcan emotion suppression techniques and in the art of reading people and telepathic control. Soral had always shown a strong telepathic ability and this priest helped teach him how to work with it and control it.

When Soral was 15 his mother was transferred back to Earth and not wanting to uproot any of her other children and her husband she was prepared to go alone. Soral saw this as an opportunity for a new start and headed with her to Earth. His mother had been assigned to the Science division in London, England on Earth. There he entered the prestigious Starfleet Prep Academy and finished with top marks. It was there that he figured out he was good at reading people.

Having been the model child he rebelled against the wishes of his family for a science degree and enrolled in Starfleet Academy taking a Triple First in Diplomacy and politics, philosophy, and Galactic history.

** Family History Note**

The Vulcan Side

S’Tan, Father of Soral: The Vulcan side of the family has quite a rich history. Soral was named after his ancestor who was a Vulcan Philosopher, and who lived in the time of Surak. Soral the Elder disagreed with Surak’s teaching. The Vulcan movement towards logic and away from emotions, forced Soral the Elder to move away from Vulcan with his wife and sons. When his sons grew one, S’Toleth, chose to stay on Romulus and build a family there while the other, S’Tipeth, decided to return to Vulcan and follow a more logical path. S’Tipeth returned to Vulcan and shortly after he married and started his family. His sons in turn followed the peaceful teachings of Surak, some going into Temple life, and others perusing science, and yet others moving into the Vulcan arts sector. S’Tan, father of Soral the younger came from the line that studied science. He joined the Vulcan science academy graduating at the top of his class. He was offered a job as chief science officer on a Vulcan ship and after 15 years a professorship at the Science Academy.

The El Aurian Side

Entaris and Eldara Varro, Mother and Aunt of Soral: The El Aurian side of the family is the more mysterious side. The Varro family were refugees from the Borgs attack on the El Aurian home planet. Joel and Valaria Varro fled to Earth after the war and settled in London. Feeling like they didn’t belong Joel and Valaria, both artists, moved to Vulcan where they settled in Kir Province in the city of the same name. There they opened a museum/retreat for artists of all sorts. Not far away they built Varro Mannor. The retreat made them a wealthy family. There, late in their lives, they had children, and raised them on Vulcan. Their youngest daughter Bella was betrothed to the son of another El Aurian family that settled near the Varro family. Bella and her Husband Tole had two daughters, Entaris and Eldara, and a son, Bertonali. The children were raised on Vulcan. Bertonali, on his 18th birthday, enlisted in Starfleet and after a successful Academy graduation he was assigned to the USS Mystic Path, a ship that, shortly after its launch, disappeared. Undeterred Entaris joined Starfleet and decided to pursue a career in science. Eldara stayed in Kir City and took over her parents business. Joel and Valaria died just shortly before their daughter Entaris married.

Entaris Varro and S’Tan: Entaris met S’Tan, a young Vulcan Scientist when she was a young Lieutenant on the USS Delta. They were asked to work together for a joint Starfleet and Vulcan Science Academy mission investigating a nebula that was emitting some strange readings. There they fell in love and married, or so that is the story that they tell. Together they raised seven children. Not the most loving parents but they did their best.
Starfleet History 2368---At the age of 18 Soral enrolled into the Academy shocking his parents with his pick of majors. This cause a rift between himself and them. In fact his parents pulled every string they could to get him booted out and they would have succeeded had Admiral Stadler not taken a liking to him. The Admiral saw Soral’s potential as a Diplomat and his genuine love of the subject he chose and he did all in his power to help the boy succeed.

Soral feeling that his parents were meddling in his life went back to Vulcan packed up his things and fully moved to Earth. He had a big fight with his parents while on Vulcan and made the difficult decision not to speak with them. They, in fact, publicly renounced him on Vulcan thus making him more of an exile.

But not all was lost. He did still maintain contact with his brothers and sisters and an Aunt who lived in Kir city, a woman who would later give Soral a boost he wasn’t counting on.

He came back to Earth, London Campus, with nothing but his boxes and suitcases. A week later he received news that his parents had frozen his bank accounts, as they had supported him thus far he was now broke; Soral adapted and got a job as a waiter at a local café while he was working his way through the Academy.

2370--In his second year Admiral Stadler, Soral’s mentor retired. During the year Soral was also asked him to work in Vice Admiral Perkins’ office as her Personal Executive Assistant when he wasn’t in classes. Although it was difficult Soral managed to do a good job and doing events with Perkins, diplomatic events, allowed him a better look into the world of diplomacy. He knew that he’d made the right decision.

By way of school spirit Soral, while at the Academy, joined the archeology team and running team.

Also during his second year Soral began a relationship with retired Admiral Marcus Antonious Stadler. The two had been growing closer and closer as time went on and finally one night when they were arguing over a diplomatic incident that happened and the handling of it the two wound up in bed and so began a relationship of love and respect.

2371--During his third year in the academy Soral's mother got very ill. His elder brother Saul called him and he rushed back to be there for is siblings but as per the wishes of his parents he was not allowed anywhere near the house. Feeling broken and emotionally shattered by the rejection he went to stay with his Aunt in Kir City. There Marcus joined him.

Eldara, quite taken by the love between Marcus and her nephew hosted them for the year. She convinced Soral to take the year off and Marcus was on medical leave for an injury sustained during the Mempa diplomatic talks with the Klingons. Just as the two were about to leave for a romantic get away Eldara suddenly passed away and Soral learned that he was her only heir. He inherited a fortune that was very vast.
Stunned but grateful he paid off his student debts and made arrangements to close off the property on Vulcan so he could finish his Academy training.

2372--Soral and Marcus returned to Earth. Marcus was asked to help with the Mempa talks and was temporarily pulled out of retirement to got to Mempa to continue talks that were not going well while Soral went back to the Academy and finished his final year.

2373 - Soral Graduated and just as Marcus was on is way back to Earth from an unsuccessful diplomatic meeting on Mempa. On the way back there was a shuttle accident and Marcus died.

Soral was devastated and retreated back to Vulcan for the rest of the year after the funeral. There, he had delivered, a huge box of items from Marcus and as he went through the letters that his love had left for him he sank into a deep depression. This was when his twin sister Jayla and his brother Saul came to stay with him.

During his depression he completely shut down barely eating and allowing his body to get weaker. They barely pulled him out alive but in 2375 he returned to Earth determined to finish what Marcus could not.
Medical History Medical Dept.

On the whole Soral Varro has been healthy. There are really three items to note that were significant.
1. Varro has yet to go through Pon Farr
2. During his Academy Years he was in a shuttle accident and has had 3 broken ribs
3. In 2379 During the Mempa treaty negotiations suffered a mild cardiac episode.

Counseling Dept.

Starfleet counseling assessment Soral Varro is assessed as being a fighter. During his early years at the Academy he lost the support of his family and was forced to fend for himself. Although Mr. Varro seems to say he is fine and his Vulcan side helps him deal with things logically it is the opinion of Counselor Bethlen of the Academy that he does indeed feel deeply and that he internalizes a lot of his emotional pain.

During his third year at the Academy he went back to tend to an ill parent and upon his return, although he passed all evaluations, he seemed to show some signs of stress but did not want to speak about it. The death of his partner Marcus Stadler seemed to throw him into a depression that he barely recovered from. A report from a Vulcan counselor said that he refused to eat and could barely get out of bed. Medical intervention was used and after intensive counseling on Vulcan at the Kir City Temple he returned and again passed all evaluations. It was noted that his emotions were kept in better check and he seemed to adopt the Vulcan way much more.

All further counseling evaluations passed and he was and is deemed fit for duty.
Service Record 2375--Back at the Academy undergoing psyc and Medical evals he pulled strings with some acquaintances he and Marcus shared and got himself assigned to the USS Porthos as a diplomatic Aid to Ambassador Jorgan. He excelled in his job and served as Jorgan's aid during the Mempa talks which were failing miserably. Soral saw his opportunity to study both sides and finish the work Marcus had started. He got to be friends with the Klingon diplomatic aids and diplomats and picked up the Klingon language quickly. He emerced himself during the two year long talks and then after Jorgan's failure the Porthos left.

2379-- After years of lobbying Starfleet he got assigned to the USS Desiree a ship headed to the Mempa talks but this time as a diplomatic officer working with the Ambassador on record, T'Elva, a Vulcan.

T'Elva saw promise in the young diplomat and worked closely with him. She was convinced that he had the key to solving the talks especially when she saw the welcome he'd received. She mentored him until 2383 when she died of Pon Farr symptoms too far advanced to be stopped.

The loss of his mentor was devastating but instead of sinking into a depression he went back to the table and delivered a signed Mempa accord document to Starfleet. With their jaws on the floor Starfleet for the first time saw his skills. They recalled him immediately to begin Ambassadorial training.

2383-- At the age of 33 he began intensive Ambassadorial training on Earth at Starfleet HQ which ended in 2384 with him being given the rank of Ambassador because of his superior IQ and his diplomatic abilities. A treaty that took years he had been signed within hours of his taking over the negotiations.

In 2385 he was sent to Trill as the Fleet Ambassador on record. There he went with his Diplomatic Executive Assistant / Body guard Kathyria, a half Romulan and Half Vulcan diplomatic security officer.

In 2388 he was reassigned to a Romulan colony on Minos Tureth Moon colony 1 aka New Romulus as Ambassador. Kathyria went with him, having gotten used to his ways and his demanding nature that kept others from warming up to his somewhat pretentious attitude, a defense mechanism he created to keep people away.

2388-2390 Soral served as ambassador to the Romulan colony and then got recalled by Starfleet in 2390 to help with the Galileo issue.
