Description		Stardate: 68593.2 Location: Latari System, Pleiades Cluster Nine months have passed following the destruction of USS Galileo and now Starfleet has commissioned Galileo-A at Avondale Shipyards. A modified and improved version of the original Nova-class starship, the newest Galileo is the pinnacle of Starfleet science technology, engineering and innovation. The time for celebration is short, however, and recent intelligence reports from the Pleiades Cluster are concerning. Two Federation colonies near the Tholian border have ceased all transmissions and their fate is currently unknown. Galileo is rerouted in the middle of a long six-month ferry to the southern border and is ordered to determine the fate of over ten thousand colonists. Mission Summary

Rigel II's Avondale Shipyards Production Facility is abuzz with activity. It has been nine months since USS Galileo was destroyed and four months since the crew was disbanded and reassigned to various postings. Now, in August 2391, Starfleet has commissioned USS Galileo-A to continue the vessel's legacy of exploration and scientific achievement. The original crew is recalled for duty along with new officers and veteran NCOs. The starship's mission is to depart on a long six-month journey to the galactic south where she will report for assignment at starbase Regula I to patrol a new area of operations along the Federation's southern borders.

The long ferry voyage is routine and monotonous until several months into her journey when Galileo receives new orders from fleet command. Recent intelligence reports from the Pleiades Cluster are concerning and reveal that Starfleet has lost contact with two frontier colonies in the Latari system. Due to the star system's proximity to the Tholian border and sudden lack of communication, Starfleet's worst fears could be realized. It is quickly deemed necessary to recon the system and determine the status of the colonists, who collectively number over ten thousand. Galileo is the closest science vessel with the most advanced sensor technology, and she is re-routed from her current transit to investigate the colonies' inhabitants and facilities.
