| Physical Description | Kala has an hourglass figure, she has never considered herself as skinny and often referred to her curves her baby weight. Not self-conscious of her looks she's never been one to feel pretty. She has a very dark peacock coloured hair almost black until the light hits it, which she has most recently dyed. On her right side, her hair is undercut short whilst the remainder usually sits over her left shoulder and trails the back of her spine in bobbing curls. She has no design within the short hair but her Trill markers can be seen through them. Between her eyes that are brown with flecks of gold and equal distance apart sits a upturned nose which is in proportion to the rest of her head which is average size. She also has light pink cupid bow lips that are thin, often at times showing her teeth when she smiles, during which two dimples for either side of her cheeks. She'd consider her chest average and not exactly something to flaunt yet not similarly something she wouldn't be embarrassed about and when in her tight fighting uniform shows a femine definition. He height of 5 foot 6 inches mostly comes from her long athletic legs, a dancer at heart she has always kept a decent physical body even with her extra 'baby weight and hourglass figure. Kala due to their most recent mission has a scar running up her arm starting from the median vein of the forearm up to her shoulder, this scar occurred as a result of dwindling medical supplies and an increase in medical needs where she ultimately decided that she could forgo the medical treatment needed to fully heal the scar. Instead, she wears it as a reminder for the people they have most recently lost and her own ability to survive. Overall Kala is a young pretty girl with a complimentary figure, enough to warrant a double-take whether it is to register her Trill marks, forearm scar or femininity would be down to the individual alone to tell. |

Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Kala started out as a bright ambitious young Trill, in many ways she still is but without the naivety of her youth. The years she has served on the Galileo has shaped her to become a strong leader and a better engineer though haunted by past mistakes. Kala is a perfectionist and while this quality appears to be good it often means she over works and exerts herself. She will put other people’s needs first and even the ship’s mechanical needs before her own. Among these Kala is a polite and caring individual, professional on the job she strives to set an example to those who work within her department. Out of Uniform, Kala has become something of a ‘life of the party’ stereo type, this recent change mostly due to the Galileo’s missions where Kala lives with the mantra ‘Life is to short not to have fun.’ Sometimes this fun can go to far and Kala finds herself in situation otherwise her professional self wouldn’t. In some ways she has been described as living two lives, Starfleet and Drinking. Overall Kala is someone you can rely on as long as she’s in uniform, She’ll be the first on shift and the last off ensuring everyone within her ‘bubble’ understands their job and feels safe doing it and would consider herself a hard working free spirit. |

| Strengths | An intuitive engineer Kala has an analytical mind that allows her to digest information from a problem, decipher the issue and able to come up with a way to fix it within her head quickly, the reason why she never became a scientist however is because she was also good implementing the actions required and is a skilled kinetic engineer, she loves to tinker and often improving systems which started out from a young age and has only developed with age. Kala is also capable of applying Logic in a forward-thinking way during stressful situations, often said with a down to Earth manner than the engineering room could be exploding around her and she’d still walk about with a grace and manner about her that said it was a perfectly normal day, this often has a calming effect on her peers. With this Kala is also extremely decisive, making split second decisions and going with them. Beyond work Kala is a Kind empathic individual, through time and her own troubles Kala has shown the ability to understand other peoples emotions not like any empathic races but just in her ability to show empathy from having experienced many of life’s troubles herself. Along with her capability of remaining calm in stressful situation and her caring nature Kala has shown to be a capable and well liked leader within the Engineering world, she strives to set a good example for those wanting to follow in her footsteps and the footsteps she followed of other great and recognised Starfleet Engineers. |

| Weaknesses | With many good, characterised traits they often come as a double-edged sword, not one trait are exclusively a strength and often can fracture into weaknesses if not done at the right time and in the right way. One of these examples for Kala is how she can often overthink simple solutions, her mind works brilliantly and though often she can piece together a tapestry of solutions often she will find and settle with the hardest ones, she is self-aware of this weakness though only through training and experience will she master it. Along with her overthinking tendency, she’ll often act out to quickly without weighing up other options. She’ll pick one solution and run with it at warp speed until either she burns out or something goes wrong, even then she would rather attempt to correct her mistake within the decided solution than rethink and come at something in a different angle. Finally Kala has become accustomed to being the life of a party whenever she isn’t wearing the uniform, she lives by the manta of only living once and thus has caused her to enjoy some of lives unsavoury activities, while this has never directly affected her ability to work or to perform to a high standard she could eb regarded as a social time bomb. |

| Ambitions | Ambitions for Kala come and go as the wind, however there are some that have remained a constant in her life, the first is to become a Taskforce Chief Engineer working on new Starship designs. Her ultimate goal would be to have one of her own designs signed off and used by Starfleet. Beyond her Engineering goals Kala would like to solidify her position onboard the USS Galileo, being the best Engineer she can be for her crew and captain. Outside of work, Kala has ambitions to continue tog row her circle of friends, she hopes that also despite the dangers of living aboard a ship and just serving in Starfleet in general Kala wishes to become a mother and wife, one day retiring at the Daystrom insitute. |

| Hobbies & Interests | As an engineer Kala has always enjoyed tinkering, one mechanical item she enjoys are clocks. Kala has always been fascinated how they worked, and how different cultures manifested time within a box (or in some cases entire buildings such as ‘Big Ben’ in London.) Kala’s room and office has several clocks. She also enjoys studying, drawing or painting Flora and Fauna, the only reason she didn’t become a botanist was because she was so good with mechanically living things not biological. Kala also enjoys a mixture of sports and is always one to trying new things as she discovers them. Kala considers herself to be Heterosexual, though she has not experienced any evidence or reason to other orientations. |

| Personal History | Kala was born a twin alongside her twin brother Kal in the Summer of year 2366 to her parents Kalzen, her father and Nery, her Mother on the Planet Trill. Kala’s family is a respected community Family in which both Kalzaen and Nery are both Joined, at this early stage in their lives it was hoped they would both follow on their families traits and also become joined. A lot of Kala’s childhood revolved around her education both within the current curriculum but also her religious-esque studies to which was preparing her for the ritual for the Joining, her brother Kal was a mirror to Kala though it was highlighted Kala was a better candidate given her early cognitive skills and learning styles. Kala went through school with good grades, nothing notable in her earlier years but it was clear to her parents and teachers that she was a free-spirited young Trill fully immersing herself into her education, however around her teens Kala started showing signs of discontent towards the idea of becoming joined a usually well honoured role within their society however years later would tell that it was due to the pressure and having had the decision made for her Kala chose to rebel. Her teens where when Kala saw a shift in her direction, she’d unconsciously decided that she wanted to go against her parents will and instead join Starfleet, at this early idea Kala didn’t know what or when but she knew that it was something she had chosen instead of her parents. Her teens from here were turbulent as she began showing a resolute disinterest in becoming joined until finally at the age of 16 she informed her parents. Trill law was fair and firm and meant that Kala could not be forced into a joining unless a symbiote life was at risk, and thus meant the decision was hers to make. After making the decision her mother told Kala it was perhaps best that she leave for Earth to live with her Aunt who was already at the time working for Starfleet. Kala never made it to Earth, or at least not in the way her mother had hoped. Instead Kala at the young age of 16 found herself becoming employed to a small Andorran freighter captain. Kala loved her new life, which found her traveling like a free spirit earning her keep and enjoying the things in life that meant much to her. Employed as an engineers mate Kala soon found she had the natural talent of being an Engineer in which she started to develop her skill set which would later become invaluable. |

| Starfleet History | After two years Kala finally made it to Earth but not to join her Aunt but to finally begin her path as a Starfleet Engineer, at the time Kala had no interest in going to the Academy and committing to four year her itch to travel and be in an engine room was to great and thus she attended a years’ worth of Training (two months basic and ten months skill training) before being assigned her first ship as a Crewman aboard the USS Copenhagen. Kala spent two years aboard the USS Copenhagen receiving engineering meritous recognition from the Chief Engineer within her first year allowing her to promote to her first Petty Officer rank, and second in command to the gamma shift watch officer, on her second and final year with the Copenhagen and having now completed two years of service, and her courses she was then reassigned to the USS Cannon, Kala was serving aboard as a warp core specialist at the time of reassignment however swapped between jobs throughout the four years she was there until finally in 2389 and now the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class. Her penultimate ship before the Galileo, Kala served on board the USS Hades a Nova class similar to the then original Galileo. Kala was a respected Engineer and often in charge of different shifts and was highlighted to be a more than capable engineer and team leader. She found she was often selected for away team, and requested to write reviews on the Engineering department for the Department chief. Kala spent just one year aboard the Hades before joining her current ship the Galileo in 2390 at a Chief Petty Officer. Kala joined the Galileo after it had returned form infiltrating the Klingon Neutral zone, she had been selected early as well as being promoted quickly to be one of the many new crew replacing former Galileo members due to their involvement and current scrutiny from Starfleet Command. She was selected for her engineering brilliance and that she had previously worked on a Nova class ship and would not need much time to adjust to the new system. Her first mission on the Galileo saw Kala face the Tholians, within the Latari system where Kala’s engineering and leadership skill would be pushed to their limits having that most of their senior staff being killed (or unable to come to an agreement.) She would show her calm under pressure attitude and with the help of her peers able to keep the Galileo together for the mission. Kala however would suffer both mental and physical injuries during her time in which she is still recovering from as the Galileo is due to embark on its next mission. |
