Mission: Episode 03 - Frontier
Location: USS Galileo: Coleman's Office
Timeline: MD1 1600

[ON]

Evelyn reviewed the mission profile and the latest Intelligence on the Rojar system. Her mind has been preoccupied with other matters however she has a job to do, and she desperately wants to leave the press contingent in the hands of other people.

She tapped the console to activate the comm.

=/\= Coleman to Lt. Markos, Lt. Liyar, WO Kell, and Chaplain Thorne, please report to my office. =/\=

Liyar entered the turbolift at the end of the hall, PADDs tucked under his arm while his meeting with Amril played out over in his mind. He heard the incoming call and tapped his commbadge. "Acknowledged."

Kell stood up from his own small corner of the ship and grabbed the uniform jacket hanging on the edge of his chair. He made himself presentable and walked down the hall, opening the door and entering first into Coleman's office. The Capellan nodded toward the commander and took a seat in one of the two chairs leaning against the side wall.

Verity Thorne wasn't far behind. He'd been winding down from his shift anyway so it wasn't much of a detour. It was different though. It wasn't often he was involved in meetings. He moved in, nodding to the others with a warm smile before moving to take a seat.

Amynta walked in a minute later, her eyes going to study everyone before she gave a small nod. She sat down, stretching her legs out slightly before crossing them.

The diplomat finally got to the support deck and strode down the halls, ducking his head under her door. He spotted the chaplain who he had spoken to earlier, a woman he wasn't familiar with, and the Capellan - Kell, and then Coleman.

Evelyn watched as her department filled her small office. "Hope everyone had a fun shore leave because we have work to do." she smiled at her officers. "Lt. Liyar I know you were in the initial briefing but I have other orders for you, that I'll get to in moment."

"Understood, Commander," Liyar told her. He bowed his head briefly to the El-Aurian and remained standing, hands behind his back.

Evelyn smiled at her department, "As you all may have heard we're going to a newly discovered star system so the science department will be extremely busy. We've also just picked up members of the press to cover the story. Chaplain Thorne, I want you to be their 'tour guide.' Here is the list of restricted sites on the ship that they'll need you if they wish to access." She added handing him a data Padd.

Verity looked down over the list, nodding absently even as he read. "No problem, 'Commander, whatever you need."

Evelyn then turned to her assistant, Lt. JG Markos. "I want you to constantly monitor the intelligence report regarding this area. Review the sensor readings from our spy satellites, I want to make sure if there is any movement from the Romulans, or anyone we know about it."

"Of course, Commander," Amynta said gently as she gave a small nod, taking out the notepad and pen. Much better than a PADD, as it couldn't be hacked. And besides, this was a personal note for herself to remember.

"WO Kell, you have a unique task." Eve smiled looking at the Capellan. "I don't trust the press. They chose the Galileo over the comforts of the Galaxy-Class Venture. That means there maybe a second storyline here they're pursuing. Covertly keep an eye on them. Make sure they don't access anything that may be restricted. If they set foot anywhere that is off limits immediately notify the security department."

Kell winged a thick eyebrow upward and looked down at his PADD, reading the list of names given to him by the quartermaster of their new arrivals. "Hm," he said curiously down at it. Trija Natyal. Betazoid, lived on Terra for the past 20 years... Jool Fenta, Interion. Covered in a thick pile of make-up... and leather...whatever that was. Known for her 'interesting' interpersonal style. Raifi Zaren, Joined Trill... covering the story of MS1, he tracked further, apparently people didn't like that, 155 year old symbiont... and his cameraman, Justin Baker. 'The best in the business'... They looked like they had come straight out of an old fashioned movie, and not the FNN. "I see your point. I'll watch after them, Commander," he gave her a nod of acknowledgment.

"Now for you Liyar." Evelyn spoke assertively as she gazed at the Vulcan. "There are two class M moons orbiting a planet in the system. It may support life so I want you to review the first contact procedure just in case. Also work with the science department, this mission will utilize their resources and I want you to help them. Also if you discover something that may be suspicious in the Rojarian system that could be intelligent life, forward those findings to Lieutenant JG Markos."

"It will be done, Commander," Liyar responded in the Vulcan version of politeness, meeting her eyes as she spoke. He started running through the memorized protocol sheets he'd been going through with Athlen. Over and over until he thought if he were pricked with a pin, Interspecies Sensitivity Training might fall out. On the other hand, he found that the prospect of meeting a potentially new species intrigued him. He finished studying the information and looked up when Coleman spoke again.

Evelyn looked at her team. "You all have your orders. I'm confident you all will excel at your assignments. Now, any questions or concerns either of you have?"

Liyar wondered what exactly he was meant to do in the science department, and had the distinct feeling that Maenad wouldn't appreciate the additional 'help'. She had also expressed a distinct distaste of his area of expertise on more than one occasion. He supposed he could operate a data terminal... analyze information patterns... if no one else was doing it, which he expected they would be. He had the impression he might be a burden to them rather than a help. But in typical Vulcan fashion, he wouldn't question it. She was his superior officer and an elder. "Negative, Commander."

Evelyn blinked at the Vulcan, "Lieutenant Liyar, if Maenad refuses your help, let me know immediately and I'll assign you different tasks. If you are providing her department help and she objects with having you there, tell her to take her complaints to me."

That was - still unusual. Regaining equilibrium, Liyar tilted his head and regarded her sideways a moment before speaking again. "Understood."

Evelyn nodded, "If no other questions, you're dismissed."
