Mission: Episode 03 - Frontier
Location: USS Galileo - Lounge
Timeline: MD? 2355

[ON]

Jared had finished his shift and had gone to the lounge to kill time until he could stop in and see Ansen. He and the Pole had a lot in common and there was a connection that was more than just physical. Otherwise he wouldn't have let the cook do what he did.

It wasn't love, it was far too early for it to be that, in fact he wasn't sure exactly what it was, but there was something. Now he found himself holding a PAdD in front of him trying to parce an especially difficult Ferangi sentence. and he heard footsteps approaching.

Aria Rice looked around, nervously. She couldn't help it...not with the chef around here. She had walked to one of the only tables that weren't overcrowded, her own PADD in her hand. Nothing special, just fiction to read. "I...can I sit here?" she asked, meeting his eyes as she smiled gently.

Seeing her security uniform startled him some. He'd been wondering when they were going to come for him, but she didn't act like she was going to arrest him, and she was strikingly beautiful, so if he was going to arrested, he'd rather it be her.

He returned her smile, "By all means, sit down, I was kind of stuck here anyway."

She sat down, her eyes warm. "Thanks...appreciate it," she said and held her padd close. "You waiting for someone?"

"I'm not meeting anyone here, but I do have... a friend I was going to go meet later if I can. What about you?"

"Me? Nothing at all," she said quickly, shaking her head. "Just wanted to get out of my quarters as well, you know?"

"Yeah, tell me about it. So you're security? How is that going for you?"

She chuckled as she shrugged, holding his eyes. "It is what it is, you know. All work and little to no play nowadays."

His eyes suddenly shifted slightly at her mention of the word play, but he quickly recovered. "Yeah, I haven't had the pleasure, but I hear that Mr. Stone is a real jewel."

She watched him before smiling gently. "I am afraid I can't comment on my betters," she said, feeling oddly mature for those words.

"Well," he said returning her smile with one of his own, "I just don't think I could be in security myself. I... I don't always follow the letter of the law. I don't think I would be very good at enforcing it."

"No one really is..." she said softly, searching his eyes. "I mean, for me it is something I do believe in. But I am not the best at it, and I will admit it openly."

"Yeah," he paused then continued, "Could I get you a drink or something?"

"Some coffee would never go amiss," she said with a quick smile, arching an eyebrow. "If you want to make it Irish, then sure thing as well."

"Well I don't usually drink coffee, I'm more of a tea man myself, but I suppose I can make an exception and tempt me with one of my three vices."

"Oh...I like tea too," she said quickly, with warmth, her eyes shining. "I like mine extra sweet."

Jared relaxed a little bit. She clearly hadn't come to arrest him, that much was clear and he was equally certain that she was attractive. "Honey or sugar?" he asked.

"Sugar please. Two," she said and smiled warmly, holding his eyes.

He went to the replicator and returned with two green teas, his with just a touch of honey and hers with two sugars. He also had a plate of warm gingerbread and oatmeal raisin cookies. "There you go," he said, "I thought I would throw in something a little extra. Not as good as I'd cook myself, but they should be good enough coming from the replicator."

"You bake?" she asked with clear interest, her eyes gentle as she nodded." I do too."

"Yes I do," he said, his normal infectious grin growing, "II really enjoy it. I do some other cooking too, but that, well that leaves something to be desired."

"Well, I never get the chance," she said softly, with a small smile. "In comparison with what I could have done, I mean. If we had the proper supplies and equipment..."

"Well I happen to have some connections with the ship's chef. You could probably say I know him intimately,"he deadpanned, "If you play your cards right, I'll see what I can do about helping you with those supplies and equipment."

She smiled weakly, looking down. "I know him well too," she said softly. "Although not intimately..." she looked at him and winked.

He leaned back in his chair and laughed returning the wink, "Well I doubt you want to hear the details, but it was a most enjoyable evening." Then with an impish grin he added, "For the record, while I don't like labels, I believe the proper term to describe me would be switch hitter."

She chuckled and nodded gently. "I suppose I view myself as someone enjoying the company of others regardless of species or gender," she said lightly, holding his eyes. "So...you two just playing, or is it more?"

"I guess its too soon to tell. It was something we both needed, and I like him, but I don't know if I LIKE him. Although I have to admit that I don't usually bo... I don't usually take the position that I did."

She smiled gently as she watched him, considering it. "Well...sometimes, switching it up can be fun. Regardless if you top or bottom," she said and sat back. This was a language she understood. "But hey, if you like him, keep it casual. If you fancy him more, you tell him. He doesn't need to be hurt, so be honest. And...you know, for someone who doesn't like labels, you labelled yourself as someone who doesn't usually bottom. I mean, what the hell? You into the whole Master/slave stuff on the quiet?" she winked teasingly...she was being playful, teasing...trying to make him smile.

Jared gave her an appraising look, then the smile she was soliciting. "I'm keeping it casual for now, but before I start cavorting around the ship, until I know how he feels. I'm not going to hurt him even unintentionally.

And I wasn't attaching a label to myself, simply stating a preference. I've never really tired the whole master slave thing, but I might be willing to try..." he paused turning his eyes on her, his smile widening, "With the right person of course. Which role do you prefer, master or slave?"

He knew she was pulling his leg, but she was good looking and Hell he'd try anything once. He had already proven that with Ansen. And besides a little bold flirting never hurt anyone.

She chuckled as she watched him, her eyes shining. "Well, I always did fancy myself in leather with a whip! But...seriously? I've never tried that stuff before. Just had a lot of friends who were into it, so I know about it by association. And good on you, mate. Trying everything, sampling the universe!"

He took a sip of his drink, glanced around the room to see if anyone else was close by. "I am sure my libido is going to get me in trouble some day, but just hypothetically speaking. Should Ansen not have any objections would you be opposed to... some sampling?"

She watched him for a long moment before chuckling. "I...would not be comfortable with it," she confessed softly. "I respect Ansen too much. Even if he would have no objection, it is still bad form."

He quirked a brow at her and shrugged his shoulders, "I can't say that I would disagree with that statement, so how about friends with no benefits?"

She grinned, nodding as she offered her hand with shining eyes. "I'm your new friend with no benefits!"

He had to chuckle at that, though he would later wish he had benefits of a different kind from her. He took her hand and shook it. "Deal."
