Mission: Episode 03 - Frontier
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 1 - Bridge
Timeline: MD01 - 1600

ON:

Dea was sitting at her station on the bridge. Working on wrapping up one final task while she waited for her replacement to arrive. Glad that it had been a quiet shift. She didn't have any plans for the evening other than a quiet dinner than some relaxation and maybe a possible workout if she was feeling up to it.

Lt. Rhodes completed his system check following taking over the Tactical Station. He had arrived early so that the Chief of Security could lead their department meeting currently taking place. He glaced over at Lt. Mailin. He felt that she looked a little nervous. Seeing that it was already 1600, Theron rotated his chair slightly and said with a touch of humor in his voice, "Lt. Mialin, will you be working another shift?" He looked around to see if her replacement was coming. "Your relief has not arrived yet. That is very odd."

"For now it does at least until I can get another replacement up here if the scheduled officer doesn't show. And you're right it is more than odd," Dea replied. While she wasn't looking forward to working an extra shift it was Dea's responsibility to ensure flight control on the bridge was always covered.

Theron had not spoken much to Lt. Mialin since leaving Vega. "May I ask . " looking at her with a sincerity, "How is the ship handling since the refit there on Vega?"

"Victorious is handling really well considering all she's been through and the fact repairs were being made on some colony away from the resources of a full Starfleet starbase," Dea replied with a smile.

The doors of the Bridge slid open with a soft hiss and Nenokah Ral strode into the room. She hadn't slept well the night before, but one couldn't tell unless you looked into her black eyes. She was here to take over the shift from Lt. Mailin, but all she wanted to go back to her quarters and play her piano.

Lt. Rhodes turned slightly to see the approach of Lt. Ral. "Your relief approaches."

Nodding to Rhodes in response to his comment, "Lieutenant," Dea turned her attention to Ral, "You're running a bit late for you shift today. Is something wrong?" There was only concern in Mialin's tone.

"Of course not, Lieutenant," Nenokah said, smiling her best. "Just a little tired. But then, aren't we all?"

"Good afternoon Lieutenant." Rhodes said coordially. "Have you been working on some additional projects or something?"

"No," Nenokah replied, "I just don't sleep well anymore."

Rhodes scrunched up his face slightly in thought, "Have the medical personnel recommended anything?"

"I think a lot of us are having that issue," Dea commented softly, "My concern is I don't want that getting in the way of duty for any of us in this department. We have a full schedule ahead of us this mission. If you need time off I can work with that."

"Nothing except complete incapacitation or death stops me from my duties, ma'am," Nenokag said, "I don't need time off. But thank you."

Theron found it odd that the crew members were more than willing to work and work when they were seriously in need of sleep, or could not sleep. He recalled a couple other times in the last day or so when conversations were very similar. Why would so many crew members be having sleep issues at the same time? he questioned himself. He made a mental note to touch base with the medical personnel later about this issue. This was not normal and could hazardous to ship's security.

Nenokah felt Theron's concern for the security of the ship, knowing some of these feelings were her own. She, too, was concerned for the ship and her crew. "I know my limits, lieutenant," Nenokah said, turning to Theron, "Your concern is unnecessary."

"Lieutenant, I meant no disrespect." Rhodes replied to Ral. "I am just concerned for ship and her crew." Theron also made a mental note about her slight arrogance concerning the issue.

"I know," Nenokah said, "I can feel it. I, too, am concerned. If I come across as anything other than that, it's not my intent."

Dea intended to discuss things further with Rhodes later, but for now it was time for her to head off duty and get some required rest, "If something comes up you know how to reach me. I've updated the shift report with Flight Control's current status as of the end of Alpha shift." Turning to Rhodes momentarily, "Have a good evening Lieutenant.

Rhodes replied, "Thank you Lieutenant. I am sure I will see you soon."

Nenokah nodded in farewell and took her position at the controls.
