ON:

Eviess smiled at her friend. "So I'm hungry, how about you?" She pointed to the menu PADD next to the one containing Romulan history.

As S'anara reached for the menu and glanced at the contents of the padd. "That isn't H'daen tr'Khellian's work is it?" She asked.

"I'm not sure. It's about Romulan history and culture. You inspired me." Eviess said smiling.

"Just be careful, some works are pure propaganda and the material is false." S'anara cautioned before looking at the menu padd. "Any recommendations on what I should get?"

She grinned, "Ohhh well that depends. Do you like spicy food? If so then the spicy Bajoran Hasprat is good. If not try the Tholian Surprise. It's a different taste every time," she said excitedly. "Personally I like the Hasprat."

"Hasprat sounds good... I'm going with that." S'anara replied, tapping the dish on the padd before handing it to Eviess, "Did you order yet?"

"Not yet." she tapped the dish too and they waited.

On the other side of the room the door hissed open. Varro, who'd been meditating all day, walked into the room. He scanned the room as he always did and saw Eviess sitting in the corner with the Romulan woman. He headed over, he hadn't seen Eviess for a few days and worried about her.

Eviess saw Varro too. her big eyes widened and she quickly tucked her hair behind her ear. She smiled as Varro approached.

S'anara noticed Eviess's huge smile and was about to ask when she followed her gaze and saw the Vulcan approaching. She rolled her eyes, and proceeded to pick out her beverage.

Varro arrived at the table. "Ladies." He looked at Eviess. "Evie, how are you?"

Eviess grinned. "I'm okay. Please join us. Varro this is S'anara, S'anara, this is Ambassador Soral Varro."

Varro gave a nod, "Madam."

"Hello." she replied, straightening herself in her seat. She handed the vulcan the data padd, "Here is the menu if you're interested."

"Thank you, he inclined his head." Varro sat down and looked over the menu.

Eviess thought about a lot of things. Even though things hadn't worked out with Varro as she had hoped she still loved him. She acknowledged that fact. She loved him from her soul. Perhaps physically they were not compatible but their souls and hearts were...at least in her mind.

Varro ordered and turned his gaze to Eviess. "Are you well?" British accent seemed more pronounced today, at least to Eviess. She loved his accent it added to his charm and mystery.

Eviess sipped her water. "I'm...better..."

Varro turned to the Romulan woman, "AEfvadh," he said, meaning be welcome, in a formal greeting. "Welcome to Starfleet." He looked at Eviess, "I imagine Evie has had many questions for you."

S'anara observed how Eviess reacted to the Ambassador and wasn't sure whether to be intrigued for her friend or concerned. Her attention snapped to Varro when he greeted her. "She's been helpful. Why you asking?"

Varro inclined his head slightly, "Evie is wonderful, I know that you two will have much to talk about." He turned to Eviess and studied her. He knew that she had was over the moon to have S'anara here. She'd peppered him with questions about New Romulus when he was assigned there as the diplomat.

Before anything else could be said the waiter brought the drinks. He put down drinks for Eviess and S'anara and a lemon, lime water for Varro. Varro looked at S'anara. "My previous assignment, before the unfortunate colony event, was New Romulus. A wonderful place. Both Evie and I are very fond of the Romulan culture. What are your plans now?"

"To have lunch." S'anara deadpanned as she reached for her Mareuvian iced tea.

Eviess laughed at her comment. "Nice!" She said.

Varro's lip twitched but he said nothing. He sipped his water and studied the Romulan. He felt a bit as if he were intruding. "Well ladies I shall go. I have a call to make. Enjoy lunch." He stood delivered his farewells and left.

Eviess's big round eyes followed him as he exited and she sighed and smiled wistfully. "Isn't he just wonderful?"

"If you say so," S'anara replied looking at her, "you seem quite smitten with him."

Eviess smiled. "I've been in love with Varro for years," she said honestly. "He saved my life is more ways then one."

"You should end the infatuation." S'anara replied, "He wouldn't be able to handle someone like you."

Eviess laughed, "Oh? How so?"

"You are a Klingon-Romulan hybrid. He's for better or worse a Vulcan. Emotionally you're too much for him. You need someone that can tame the Klingon and stimulate the Romulan," S'anara replied honestly, "You need more emotion, less logic. Try humans, they're satisfying."

Eviess smiled, "Oh he's part El Aurian himself so really it's okay." She looked at S'anara, "Besides he'd probably never find someone like me attractive. We've been friends forever, but a girl and dream." She shrugged. "So, tell me about yourself."

"Why?" S'anara replied watching her friend.

Eviess smiled, "Because I want to know. Friends talk about themselves to one another." She sipped her drink. She wondered if all Romulans were this closed or if her new friend was just scared and shy at being here. This was all new. Eviess remembered when she was new to Starfleet. "I'll tell you what. why don't we take turns asking one another questions. You go first, ask me anything."

S'anara shook her head, lightly chuckling as she took a sip from her drink. "What exactly do you want to learn about me?"

Eviess smiled, "Well tell me about your hobbies, what kind of things do you read, what's your favourite colour? Anything really."

"Didn't have much time to develop hobbies while in the Tal-Shiar." S'anara replied honestly, "As for colour... crimson."

Eviess smiled, "That's a nice one. I'm in love with Green and Blue...kind of like Varro's eyes."

S'anara rolled her eyes at the Ambassador's name. "He's not even attractive..."

Eviess' eyes bugged out a bit, "Are we looking at the same man? He's very handsome and...well I owe him my life. He saved me and took care of me." She looked over at the chair Varro had occupied longingly. "I would give anything to..." She shook herself. It hadn't worked out. She needed to let go of what happened. "Anyway never mind that. Let's talk more about you. What's your favourite food?"

"What's yours?" She countered, shifting in her seat.

Eviess had to think about that for a while. "Well I guess I would say Vulcan Hapten pudding. it's sweet but not too sweet. I also love Hasprat from Bajor and Bolian Boronai. How about you?" She asked knowing that S'anara had side stepped her earlier attempt.

S'anara paused for a moment and then groaned out of frustration. "I don't have a favorite food. Most of my life was on standard food rations because I was always out in the field." She replied, looking at Eviess.

Eviess smiled and patted her hand. "Don't worry we'll find your favourite food here." She really wanted to help S'anara integrate. "Okay how about this why don't I let you ask questions for I bit. I've been badgering you all the time."

"Why did you join Starfleet? You mentioned you were in private practice...why enlist?" S'anara asked.

"Actually...I treated an Admiral and was convinced to join. I thought it'd try it out...there are days that I feel like I hate every minute of it and other days where it's interesting and I love it." She smiled.

S'anara observed her friend a bit more. "Have you published any medical journals?"

"A few articles in medical journals, I mostly write ... well I write Romance novels," said Eviess. "Do you write?"

"No." She replied, and then added, "No paper trails. So... romance novels, what made you choose that path of literature?"

Eviess smiled, "Sells well, and I was inspired." She had actually fallen into it by accident. "I wrote a short story and one of my medical colleagues accidently got a hold of it. She entered me into a contest and I won. They asked me to expand it into a book and the rest, as they say, is history." She studied her friend. "You know things are going to be different for you now. If you want to write, write, this will be a huge adjustment."

While under Evi's gaze, S'anara shifted in her seat, "Hopefully, I can learn to be a productive member of society." she joked.

Eviess laid her hand over S'anara's. "You will. I am here to help anyway that I can." She smiled at her new friend. She was really glad that they'd met. Eviess was starting to really look up to S'anara.

"The feeling is mutual." S'anara replied as she turned her hand and squeezed Eviess's. "I'll be there for you, whenever you need me."

Eviess smiled and thanked her. She was so glad she'd met S'anara. Shortly after the food arrived and the two tucked in. Eviess wanted to know more about her friend. "So tell me, do you have any siblings?"

S'anara shook her head, "No, I was an only child. It was hard for my parents to conceive."

She gave a nod. "Mine too. I have two older brothers and our parents had to get medical help for all of us." She patted S'anara's hand. "Sometimes brothers and sisters are not born to us, sometimes they find us on this path of life."

"You're a very tactile person." S'anara commented as she reached for her lunch. "You always touch your friends this much?"

Eviess blushed, "Sorry. Being a doctor tactile is something that comes with the territory." She sipped the drink that had been refilled and pushed around the food on her plate. She had alternated between loss of appetite and being ravenously hungry for days. "So I saw you around with Darius Lamar the other day. Are you two.... You a couple?"

S'anara just took a bite into her hasprat when Eviess asked her question. "Mhrm" She mumbled before quickly chewing the food. She reached for her drink, took a swig and quickly swallowed, freeing her mouth. "I've had a few conquests with him." she replied, nodding her head, "If there is more.... I'm unsure at this time."

Eviess smiled, "Conquests huh?" She laughed. "That sounds interesting. You just make sure he treats you right. Humans can be difficult when relationships come along." Not that Vulcan's are any better she thought to herself.

Arching her brow S'anara smirked, "You've been with many humans?"

She smiled, "One or two. They are not all they are made out to be. Whiny, needy creatures." She smiled. "And they have wandering eyes." She shrugged, "But they can be fun to play with."

"You almost sound like they are the galaxy's pet." S'anara snickered.

Evie laughed along with her. She sighed and then yawned. "My I'm so tired lately."

"Been staying up late?" S'anara asked.

Eviess shook her head. "No...not really. I just feel tired. I'm crabby, I can't seem to make up my mind. I'm sweating a lot..." She smiled sheepishly, "I'm sorry, too much information."

"Yes it is, but then... if you can't share with a friend, who can you share with?" S'anara smiled, shrugging off Evi's concern. "Do you think you might be catching a cold?"

Eviess shrugged. "Perhaps. I should go to sickbay and check. Today's actually the first meal that I could eat without getting sick so maybe it's a passing thing." She smiled at S'anara, "We'll be at the starbase soon. I hope we get a few days to rest there. There is a Romulan restaurant there that I love to go to. I'd love to show it to you."

S'anara smiled and nodded, "I look forward to it." she replied and then added, "Hope you feel better."

She smiled at S'anara, "I should go and lay down a bit." She really was getting tired a whole lot quicker.
