Mission: Episode 09 - Empires
Location: Nimbus System - USS Galileo, ISS Galileo, IKS Saalm
Timeline: MD 11 - 0440 hrs

Previously, on Battle for Empires (Part 2)...

Feeling the phaser somewhere around her mid gut she breathed in and tried to grab it for herself "I've already done that today" She said between gritted teeth, "If you haven't forgotten old sleepy over there!" She was trying hard not to hurt him, she really did like him but he was making the situation ever worst, her fingers wrapped round his which were too wrapped round the phaser. "Give it up Wintrow, please damn it!"

"No," Wintrow growled, trying to yank his hand from her grasp. As they struggled for the phaser, one of them (and they would never know who) pressed the trigger and the phaser - set to stun - went off between them, stunning them both as the beam had nowhere to go but between both their close proximity bodies.

And Now, the Conclusion...

[ON]

In Space above the Asteroid...

A mass exchange of Terran and Klingon weapons fire was now ensuing, igniting the cosmos for thousands of kilometers with bright green and orange energy weapon fire. The Terran Empire's quick adaptation of Galileo's experimental sensor equipment had been as rapid and rudimentary as any jury rig previously seen, and their resulting detection of the cloaked KCA fleet had been met with the KCA's own detection of the Empire's weapons fire.

Green and yellow red photon torpedoes streak across the nearby space as both fleets engaged each other and fired at will. Occasionally, a bright explosion and flaming debris would erupt from an attacking vessel, and it was clear to anyone involved or nearby that a massive fleet action was now underway.

USS Galileo - Deck 4, Sickbay

With the main computer core secured, Jaana sprinted through the hallways towards sickbay. With her hand phaser, she fired like mad at any Terran she passed; even if she didn't hit, her shots sent them ducking for cover long enough for her to pass by.

Bursting through the door of sickbay, she looked around, not seeing anyone present. "Tuula!" she called out, frantically scanning the room, her voice cracking. She could only hope that her sister was all right. "Where are you!"

Her calls were interrupted by the sound of a phaser rifle being cocked next to her head.

"Drop it!" shouted a tattooed woman in a distinctive Finnish accent, holding the rifle steady. "Hands in the air!"

Jaana released the hand phaser, letting it clatter to the floor. Slowly, she raised her hands. That voice was all too familiar; it sounded like her sister. Or... herself.

"Name, rank and position," shouted the other woman. "Now!"

"Ensign Jaana Voutilainen, Starfleet. Stellar Cartographer, USS Galileo," said Jaana, her voice cracking.

The other woman smiled. "Turn around," she said, "slowly. I want to get a good look at you."

Slowly, Jaana turned to come face to face with her other self. This woman was dark. Her tattoos and dark hair was not unlike that of her sister. But instead of warmth, all she saw in her eyes was hatred.

"What have you done with my sister?" asked Jaana, a tear forming in the corner of her eyes.

"Tuula?" replied the other woman, with hatred in her voice. "As much as I wanted to kill that bitch, the Akkadians got to her first."

"No..." gasped Jaana, bursting into tears, overwhelmed by a powerful sense of loss. "No... that can't be..."

"It is," replied the mirror Jaana, disgusted at her counterpart's tears. "She was weak and pathetic. Just like you. And now it's your turn to die." Aiming her rifle towards the blonde Jaana, she held her finger on the trigger.

It was at that moment, not a moment too soon, that Jaana was overcome with rage. Moving swiftly, she dodged her counterpart's phaser blast and within a matter of milliseconds closed the gap between the two of them, reaching for the rifle.

Mirror Jaana was surprised at the ferocity of her weak and pathetic counterpart's assault. Before she knew it, her rifle was clattering to the floor of sickbay and she was being pummeled by Jaana's fists of fury.

After taking two blows to the face, mirror Jaana raised her arms to defend herself, blocking Jaana's third punch. She countered with a swift jab to the gut and a hook to the side of the head. With a sweep of her leg, she knocked Jaana to the ground and dove after her.

Jaana raised her arms and wrestled with her mirror counterpart. Rolling arcoss the floor of sickbay, they both punched and clawed at each other with every opportunity.

"I'll kill you!" shouted Jaana, raining blows down upon her mirror universe counterpart, getting on top of her for a moment. "You evil bitch! I'll kill you for what you did to Tuula!"

Moving her head to the side, mirror Jaana dodged one of Jaana's blows, the blonde woman's fist slamming hard into the floor plating of sickbay. As she recoiled in pain, Jaana gave her mirror counterpart an opportunity.

With a quick motion, the mirror universe version of Jaana was on top, choking Jaana as hard as she could. "You're weak," she said, bleeding from the nose and the corner of her lip, "And now, it's time for you to meet your sister."

But out of the corner of her eye, Jaana saw her hand phaser just barely within reach. With a quick movement, she grabbed it and fired into the stomach of her assailant, hitting her with a heavy stun. As the mirror counterpart lost consciousness, her grip loosened and Jaana could finally breathe again.

Pushing her mirror counterpart off of her, all Jaana could do was run into the Chief Medical Officer's office, sit down in a corner, and cry.

Deck 7 - Main Engineering

Having retaken main engineering and now standing over the main console with Beaumont and other yellow-collared personnel back at their stations, Lirha released her primary systems lock on the starship by inputting her command codes back into the computer.

"Authorization restored," said the calm and collected voice of the computer core when Lirha finished her sequence. "All primary starship functions now re-established."

"Saalm to Holliday!" Lirha quickly yelled after slapping her commbadge. "All systems are restored and you have helm control. Get us out of here!"

Deck 1 - Main Bridge

From the moment Jynn found himself back in the pilot's seat he had gone over ever diagnostic he could pull up and recited any regulations that bubbled forth to the top of his mind while he prepaired for their exit from the most unwelcoming of places. Thrusters only while in spacedock! Thrusters only while in spacedock! Thrusters only while in spacedock, the freshly freed pilot's mind was shouting at him as he remembered the dangers of flying too fast inside of structures. But now was not the time for regulations. They had to get out of there. Now! Forget it!

“One quarter impulse! Hold on to your butts, people!” With those words the Galileo lurched forward and began its own escape attempt. With nimble fingers he guided the ship through the brief interior of the secret outpost before finding his way to the exit, tracing back the steps of the flashing lights along the interior. How convenient it was. Moments later, just as the ship was finding its way to freedom, it immediately ran into an entirely new problem.

Space armadas! Phaser fire and torpedoes trailed all around the ship as it made its break for it. The battle was obviously well underway but there was still the chance of stray or deliberate fire catching the ship from another dimension as it attempted to find its way home. There wasn't much time for the crew of the wounded vessel to find a way out, but with the collective hopes and efforts of all aboard it was at least somewhat certain that they would pull through.

"Push them aft, up and out!" Luke had fought his way to the bridge not loosing any of his small fire team and now stood at the tactical station directing teams of Galileo security. Hearing the admiral's words and the red lighting activating, he felt the adrenaline course through him. Without asking, he set weapons to ready and began firing everything at the two tractor beams destroying them, the ship jolting as it became free.

"Sir, we are now free from the base's tractor beam and have reports coming from all over the ship were taking the Galileo back with minimum casualties and those Empire soldiers left are trying to secure shuttles to launch. So far, the KCA and Empire are so locked into combat we're being ignored. I'm setting phaser and torpedoes to defensive fire in case any stray torpedoes come our way," Luke said looking to Holliday.

Back in his office, Tyrion stared at the small bundle that had been placed in his arms. It wiggled, and sounds emerged from it but Tyrion was afraid to look at it more closely. What was he going to do with a baby? How was he going to take care of one? He would need help, but who was he going to ask, especially with Grayson still in sickbay?

In open space...

USS Galileo's recently-repaired secondary deflector array reached out to touch the cosmos. A bright buildup of commanded high-energy particles quickly projected forward of the starship and detonated within the subspace realm, causing a small, swirling vortex to begin to form. Galileo swiftly zoomed towards the exit hole which would provide both sanctuary from the hostile Klingon and Terran forces, and which would also hopefully return them to their own universe and some semblance of normalcy.

"All hands, this is Saalm!" Lirha called out from her station in main engineering. She had been busy calculating and monitoring the power surges that were now affecting the warp core, and on her primary monitor, she watches the vortex begin to open as they all approached.

"We are attempting to return to our universe...brace for impact in ten seconds!" she yelled.

The targeting sensors chirped to life as it picked up several torpedo as the ISS Galileo de-cloaked, the impact of which rocked the ship followed by several barrages of phaser fire causing several of the consoles to erupt in sparks.

"Enemy ship de-cloaking port side bearing 227," He looked up from his station "It's the ISS Galileo and she's pissed," He replied the ship rocking again. "Firing phasers to intercept incoming torpedoes, remodulating shields to compensate for the phaser fire. Torpedoes away, full spread," he said not looking up, his hands dancing across his console.

Galileo returned fire against the armored warship as best the tiny ship could. The nimble Nova-class swerved and used several nearby Klingon-Cardassian warships for cover while she made a break for the votex, after which she entered into the subspace rift which created a massive electromagnetic ripple through the cosmos.

Where the ship had gone, no one could be certain at first, but around the asteroids of the Nimbus belt, the Terrans and Klingon-Cardassian Alliance continued to wage war. A war to determine the final fates of the Empires.
