After finishing up her bridge shift, Min had gone home to change. She'd hoped Jared was already off shift but she'd seen a note he was running late and would meet her at Callisto's once he was free. Slipping into a pair of black leggings and a longish blue tunic that draped over her body, accentuating her feminine features but also her seven month along pregnancy, Min admired herself in the mirror before she left her quarters.

Entering the bar for the first time in person, she glanced around the room. The place was packed and she quickly lost count of how many heads were in the place. She was also quite surprised how spacious the space was given how compact the Galileo was. A tribute to the design engineers that such a small ship could fit in everything and everyone.

Tarel beamed at the sight of everyone flooding into the bar. Everyone seemed to be getting themselves settled in, admiring the sights, and of course partaking in beverages. She sprung into action, as if remembering she had another duty beyond her pretty face and voice.

Nearing the closest individual seating himself at one of the various tables, she smiled bright, putting on her best waitress-like voice. "I hope you're enjoying yourself, and welcome to the Callisto Bar! May I get you a drink to start your visit off?"

Quinn moved to a small table and sat down, amazed at the turn out for the grand opening.

Amril was suddenly walking out of the crowd towards the non-comm's table. "Ah, Master Chief!" he declared with his effervescent smile coming out immediately, his lilac eyes lighting up with recognition. "It's refreshing to see you again finally, Mister Quinn. How are you?" He gestured to the seat across from the human. "Is this seat taken?"

Quinn smiled. "Amril. Please, sit down. How have you been, my friend?"

"Oh, quite well, Mister Quinn," the vorta declared as he took his seat. "I will be returning to the Galileo as a member of the crew. Starfleet Command granted my request, though I suspect Commodore Saalm had something to do with that."

"I have no doubt." replied Quinn. "Are you going to be back in Ops, or are you trying a different position?"

"I will remain in ops," Amril confirmed, "But I intend to keep learning about other departments, of course."

"You'll do fine." assured the CoB. "I'm glad you're on our side, Amril. I like you."

Amril chuckled. "Not many Starfleet personnel will say that," he commented, "I like you too, Mister Quinn." He paused for a moment, thinking. "You know, I've never been very good at small talk outside of a political setting. If I were to talk to you now, I would try to start a conversation about the political tensions between the remnants of the old Romulan Star Empire and newly liberated worlds in Romulan space. What do normal conversations entail?"

Being a few tables in, Tarel bounced back and forth for orders. She was extremely grateful they had managed to hire more wait staff for this. As she passed by, she noticed the Vorta sitting at a table before she noticed anything else. How odd, but she wasn't going to question it. Instead, she beamed her best waitress grin, and strode right over, pad in hand. "Hello gentlemen, welcome to the Callisto! A drink to start you off? We have plenty of fine beverages, crafted from the finest areas all over the stars~" Now she was beginning to sound a little like a Ferengi, which would have made her cringe had it not been for her nearly impossible to break demeanor.

Lt. Rhodes stepped through the door into the Bar. He was on duty and in uniform, but thought he could take a break to socialize. He had been trying more recently to socialize more and get out of a depressing rut that had held him back over their long shore leave. Theron looked right and left about the crowd, but did not catch anyone's eye. He walked over to the bar an ordered, "Ice water."

Luke pulled up alongside the chief and nodded his friendly greeting towards the young officer. "Not drinking tonight chief?" He asked casually ordering a drink for himself, a beer of course. He was a little surprised to see Rhodes here at all he couldn't imagining the young chief getting much time away from work.

Turning Theron saw Luke and smiled, "Nope. Well, at least not yet." He accepted the tall glass and took a sip. "I will probably come back by at the end of Beta, for a while longer." He looked about the room and said, "I am sure someone will still be here."

Luke laughed at the comment from the chief and smiled as he followed Rhode's gaze across the room "I don't think you could be any more right, I just hope I can get away before this old body creams in!"

Allyndra felt almost lost in the place and she had always been a wall-flower. It had taken Gerrin all that time ago to make the effort to ask a shy apprentice to dance. She watched all the others for a bit and decided that she needed to do something. The bar had a couple of people she barely knew and one of them had been on the winning shuttle. She made her way over.

"Pardon me, It's Rhodes correct?"

Theron turned to see their resident Akkadian. With a slight smile, "Yes. Dr. Warraquim, is it not? I do not believe we have had the pleasure." He extended his hand of friendship, in an very un-Tandaran fashion.

"Just Allyndra please," she said taking the hand quickly. She held only briefly.

"Of course. Please call me Theron." The Security Chief replied and released the gentle grip she had given.

"I wanted to say congratulations on the shuttle race. Were you the one doing the flying?"

Theron smiled slightly and nodded the acceptance of praise, "No. I was just the support crew on that flight. It was Crewman Ash Rowe that I have to thank for that . . . little victory." He raised his glass in a toast of absence to Rowe and then took a drink.

Allyndra made a nod of the head. "Good then it was Rowe that made me have to take evasive action." Allyndra said it with a smile and light tone indicating she did not take it really to heart.

"So uniform? Still on duty?" she asked Theron.

Theron glaced down at his uniform and then back and replied, "Guilty as charged. I just thought that I would stop in and say Hi. I'm sure I will be back for more of the party after Beta shift."

Allyndra sighed a moment. "Oh that is too bad, I start on gamma. Yes, I know it is odd, but I prefer the more quiet time. Actually," she turned slightly and waved a hand. "Crowds make me nervous. My Guild mother always said I was more part of the wall decorations every time something was going on at home when I was younger."

Theron nodded his head in understanding, "I understand. I too have dealt with personal space issues." He let that drop not really wanting to explain. It was connected to a true issue in his life in recent months. He smiled again and continued, "Tell me Doctor, how do you fill your day when not on duty?"

Allyndra was going to say it had nothing to do with personal space issue, but stopped when Theron added more. She had been a counselor at one time and this caught that instinct that she had learned to have.

"Well, I do have to sleep and..." she hesitated for a fraction of a moment, "obtain nourishment but the rest, if there are no problems in sickbay then reading, and hopefully get back to water dancing."

Theron thought through the doctor's answer. He realized that her lack of socialization was just as obscure as his. He wanted to speak further about it, but this was neither the time nor the place. He smiled politely and replied, "Water dancing? That sounds interesting."

"I have not had time since before the last mission and then it was only briefly in the botanical section. Anyway, it is a form of dancing where one uses ones wings to 'dance' on the water, just letting one's toes and feet touch. A delicate balance of the vagaries of wind and wave." Allyndra explained. "I would love to show you sometime if you care to see it."

"That could be quite interesting." Theron replied.

"What are your hobbies or other things you like to do off duty?" Allyndra asked and then realized perhaps it might be too personnel and amended, "if I might ask."

Theron nodded acceptance to the small talk, especially since he initiated it. "Besides the usual physical training, I have found the history of ancient arms of warfare most compelling. I have several fine examples from across the sector in my quarters." He took a sip of his water and continued, "I could show them to you at some point if that interests you?" He immediately questioned what he had recommended. He hoped that she would not misconstrue an honest attempt at kindness and not something unprofessional.

Allyndra made a small bow of the head. "I would love to see them and their historical context. I find myself attracted to...things of the past and why." The statement was true, but it had been delving into her people's history and their were indications of ties elsewhere.

Theron was pleasantly surprised by the Doctor's interest. "Very well then, I will contact you later in the week and we can compare interests in . . historical things."

"Very good, I will look forward to it...ohh! I thinking they are starting," Allyndra said and returned her attention to the stage.

As everyone seemed to be settling in and enjoying their drinks, a tiny-statured, yellow-uniformed engineer made his way onto the stage. He had a drink in hand, though it was non-alcoholic in nature, and a giant grin on. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, and nothing had blown up yet, which meant everything seemed to be going relatively smoothly. Asahi couldn't have been more proud, and it certainly showed. Any of the nervousness he had before the doors open seemed to vanish almost instantly.

Clearing his throat, he tapped on the mic to test it's sound. "... Is this thing on?... Yes, yes it is-Can I have everyone's attention please? It'll just be a moment, then everyone can go back to having their fun."

"I just wanted to say a few words before the night gets too far away from us all." Grinning, the dirty blonde gestured toward the bar. "I'm sure everyone's been anticipating this opening for a long time now, and there were a lot of hands in it's construction, which I'm proud to say that I've been a part of, but there were quite a few volunteers from both Engineering and Operations who happily leant their skills over shore leave to making sure the whole set-up's running just as smoothly as the rest of the ship. We've got a brew generously provided for us by the Quinn Family Ranch, and more musical entertainment than I can shake a spanner at. And we've managed to find ourselves a skilled pair of bartenders to run it all. Overall, I say the Callisto Bar's going to be one more thing for us to pride ourselves on."

He felt his cheeks growing hot with blush, but he pressed onward, raising his drink. "So, before I get ahead of myself, I propose a toast. Not just to one set of hands, but to all the hands who helped make the Callisto Bar a reality."

Jacob stood up to his full height and toasted in return, "May this bar see nothing but good times, good friendships made, good music and never see sadness or despair. So Mote It Be!" He held up his almost ever present Orange Creme Soda bottle for all to see, made the toasting motion and took a long swig.

Allyndra had decided on something more fruity then anything else, something the bar keep had called a 'Shirley Temple', which she would have to look up the reference.

She was not sure exactly what to say, but the words from a song from her home sprang to her mind. "From my world: 'May breezes blow gently, may fair winds guide you, may the Twins shine brightly upon you and always guide you safely to shore.'

Lirha raised her glass of bubbly in celebration with a happy smile on her face. She was delighted to see so many of the crew present for the official 'grand opening', and though she had privately had some original reservations about installing a dedicated bar/lounge on the ship, it was good to know that the crew were enjoying themselves and the payoff was worth the effort.
