The door to the small enlisted quarters opened and James wandered in, eyes shifting across the room until they lighted on Cyrus. "Evening," he said with a nod, setting down the PADD he carried and picking up a cup of coffee that was, by then, cold.

"Hey James." Cyrus had gone for his stress ball and was tossing it up in the air, enjoying a glass of water. "Big night ahead?" He had just finished his shift, and thankful for it.

"Big night of sleeping," James replied, "I don't have gamma shift tonight and this ship isn't exactly big on nightlife, you know? Wouldn't hurt to do something about that."

Cyrus chuckled and tossed his ball in the air. "Yeah, well, you don't deal with post traumatic stress without a little insomnia. " He sighed. "Sorry, joke in bad taste." He walked over to the replicator and took another drink of water. "How's Gamma treating you anyway? Graveyard shift should be mine all things considered. "

James shrugged. "Oh, you know, muted lights and nothing much happening. It's not bad. Gives me time to work on my own projects." He raised his cup of cold coffee to his lips and sipped it experimentally. "So why don't you take gamma shift if you can't sleep? Maybe you would have better luck in the daytime."

He shook his head. "Not my call, Stone wants me on Beta and someone has to keep the all the non comms in check while Rhodes is in reading PADD's all day." He sighed. "I thought about it, but really, when you think about it, it would only just make it worse." He smiled and looked at his roomate. "Besides, Beta shift still lets me sleep in late when I do get to sleep, but I still get off work early enough to still doing something for a couple hours, Gamma is more, work....bed...." He shrugged. "I'm not one really for doing lots of nothing anyways."

Walking over to his bed again he chuckled. "Did you see the new doctor that came in? Ensign Jessica Wilson... I think she might be your type James. I'm pretty sure she's normally on Gamma."

"Oh, yeah?" James asked, smiling slightly, "What's my type, Cyrus?"

"young, nerdy and brown haired and green eyed." He teased. "And obviously likes to work late." He chuckled. "Mainly nerdy though." His hand was still tight, but it had healed considerably since being restored several days earlier. "How's Peer's treating you anyways?"

"Oh, she's quite fine," he observed, setting the coffee back down on his desk after taking another sip. "Though she strikes me as being... tired. What do you think of all your higher-ups?"

"Rhodes likes to say yes all the time, Aria likes to say no all the time and Stone is... difficult to work for." He chuckled. "But they are all strong people and good people, I'm glad that I work for them." He sighed.

"That's good. They sound a tad quirky though, don't they? Come to think of it... there's a lot of quirks on this ship."

Kiwosk couldn't help but agree. "Seems like, but I'm sure sh'll work out her kinks sure enough. A lot of the crew is pretty young, they don't really know how to cope with dangers and loss. We're no exception to that." He rolled his shoulder unconsciously and smiled.

"Heh, perhaps you are right, perhaps you are right..." He gave his coffee mug a thoughtful glance, decided it wasn't worth it, and then fixed his gaze on Cyrus. "You know what you need? A distraction, other things to think about."

"Hells to the yes I do. " He smiled. "And I was thinking on how to do it. " He held up a single finger and whispered loudly. "Poker night."

"Poker?" James asked, "I was thinking of a trip to Risa or a rigorous program on the holodeck."

Cyrus waved Watt off. "That's all well and good, man... but a poker game with some buddies, that's where it is at. You ever play? A couple drinks, some good eats and cards with friends, you can't go wrong."

"I know the game," was the reply, "but I've never played it. It sounds interesting though. I'll give it a shot."

"Oh man, you haven't lived! I'm telling you Poker really is fun in a group setting, I was already thinking of people to ask..." Cyrus's excitement simply built upon his own idea, unfortunately for Watt who was caught in the middle.

"Well..." James said, pulling out a PADD, "Let's get a list going."
