Deck 3 Counselor's Offices

Caymen had already been to security and was still needing to meet the folks with whom he'd share an office down on deck 5. But while he was here he wanted to pay a visit to the counselors. They were, in a way, kindred spirits on this ship - people was their focus. Caymen just had to think on a grander scale much of the time, at least historically.

The ambassador, still in his civilian garb, meandered into the counselor's offices and saw a few officers about. His combadge and ID were in his pocket so the main doors opened up to the scene.

"Ah, greetings," he said to the first person who would pay him attention. "Ambassador Caymen Greener here."

"Ambassador," murmured a Vulcan from his spot stocking supplies on a shelf. He turned, clasping his hands behind him. "Good morning. Is there something I can assist you with?"

"I have just arrived," replied Greener, looking down at his clothes with a motion of his hand. "But I thought I would check in with a few folks before the ships leaves." He paused. "And you are?" he asked bluntly.

"Dr. Rael," he introduced himself with a bow of his head. "Assistant chief counselor."

"Ah then I found one of the right places." He bowed his head slightly. "A pleasure to meet you. As I said, I am the newly arrived diplomat and there are a few teams I wanted to meet. Intelligence, counseling, linguistics - you will all be my best friends, as much as you'll allow it."

Both his eyebrows arched skeptically. "Of course, sir."

Greener nodded. "Very well. Let me ask if you have any empaths on board, any Betazoids?" Caymen had looked at the manifest a bit, and he knew there were a few, including one in his assigned area. But it couldn't hurt to ask, and someone in the medical or psych area would know that data in depth, in theory.

"Yes, we do," Rael answered. "For what reason do you ask?"

"Well, some can read minds," he replied bluntly. Caymen looked at him with a bit more warmth and a half-smile. "But in all honesty, I just like how they can sense emotion and sometimes pick up on truth or lies. It's not foolproof, but it can be a powerful asset."

"I see," the Vulcan replied slowly.

The ambassador paused as his smile waned a bit. "And, I hope that I can come speak with you fine folks for some of that perception skill. I have known may counselors and psychology professionals who were as good as a Betazoid at reading a person's intent."

Rael's own expression was inscrutable, his response canned: "We shall be happy to assist where necessary, sir."

"Alright..." Greener paused. "Then I suppose I will take my leave for now, and let you get back to work." He was at a loss for further discussion points, even though he was the intruder. But they would undoubtedly meet again.
