Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: Jupiter Station - Deck 75, Auditorium 4
Timeline: MD 82 - 0945 hrs

[ON]

The corridors and promenades of Jupiter Station were now abuzz with all manner of medical and science specialists, officers, and advisors. All throughout the large station, many Human and non-Human races had now gathered to not only mingle and socialize, but to also share and present their greatest scientific achievements of the calendar year. The appropriate forum for such a mass exchange of information was, of course, the Exeter Science Symposium -- the most prestigious of all scientific conferences held within the Federation. Each year, over 100,000 of the UFP's brightest and revolutionary minds all congregated at the station to share their work and progress, and this year was no exception.

In fact, it was perhaps even more special, thanks to the invitation to the USS Galileo crew who -- among other discoveries -- happened to be the only Federation vessel within the last 15 years to enter the Mirror Universe. The vessel and her personnel had slowly gained notice within the Federation's scientific community since their sovereign voyage due to their extensive field work and discoveries, and this newest achievement seemed to be the icing on the cake which had earned them a spot at the big show.

Now, on the second day of the conference, the ship's crew was due to present for the entirety of the morning and afternoon. The large auditorium was packed with almost a quarter-million people who were anxious to watch, listen, and learn from the information which would be presented.

Among the crew members who entered, Greg made his way into the large auditorium. Being almost completely oblivious to anything above High School level science, Greg volunteered to help act as security detail for the Symposium. As soon as he entered, he stood himself off to one side of the door in the back of the room, next to a few other guards.

"Greg?", came a voice to his right.

Looking over, he saw another officer, Mack Greer, whom he had made friends with while assigned to the station. "Mack, good to see you." He smiled and shook hands with him. "How have you been, since I've been gone?"

"Ah, same old same old. Superiors were glad when you finally left." Mack laughed. "You on the...was it the Arleigh Burke?"

Greg shook his head, "No, I'm on the Galileo now. Thought I'd mix things up a bit."

"You're not going to talk are you?" Mack asked.

Greg laughed, "Yah, I'm going to explain to them how gasoline can explode, which is pretty much the extent of my science knowledge," He joked, "No, I'm just helping out with security here.

Mack smiled, "I here ya. We're tighter then a rubber band here." A voice came over his comm and he responded. "Position 2-7, 10-4, we're all clear." Mack smiled at Greg, "Well, looks like we're going to start soon, so I'll have to make my way to my station. Good seeing you man." He turned to walk away.

"You too Mack." Greg smiled.

Rebecca fell in beside the now alone crew member whom she recognised from his bio which she had reviewed with Holiday. "It's a small world it seems...."

As they were on shore leave, Rebecca was out of uniform but she kept it toned down from her usual flesh revealing ensembles. Instead today she wore denim jeans with a pair of ankle boots. She paired this with a cotton shirt buttoned to just above bust level, leaving it open enough to hint at what was beneath. Her hair was pulled back into a messy bun with strands left down over her face. "Chief Warrent Officer Two Greg Mitchell?"

Greg was usually professional enough to not let anything distract him while on duty. He had situated himself in back and was standing calmly at parade rest with his hands behind him looking around. During this time, he usually put on a serious and professional face, with a few jokes here and there.

However, being a male, he was taken by surprise when Rebecca approached him, the first thing he noticed was the fact that she wasn't buttoned as much as he would expect at one of these professional functions. Thus, he made the obvious choice in this situation. He dropped his professional attitude and immediately reverted to flirting.

"Why hello there." He said, flashing a cool smile and trying to keep his eyes locked on hers, instead of wandering. "You appear to have me at a bit of a disadvantage, miss...."

"Ms you mean..." A twinkle alight Rebecca's eyes as she watched the man and his analysis of her body. He wasn't so bad himself she had to admit, mind you he seemed like the kinda guy she liked...ready for some harmless fun. "Rebecca works just as well though."

"My apologies, ma'am." Greg smiled, talking a quick glance around the room. He was good at multi-tasking, checking for threats in the room while holding a conversation. He faced her again. "So, I take it you work on the Galileo?" He had managed to meet a lot of the crew, but not all yet, and this woman appearing out of uniform slightly through him off.

"Or maybe your just well known around these parts?" The teasing note in Rebecca's voice reflected on the teasing smile which crossed her lips. She knew his position in security and it seemed to be a role which he took very seriously. "It also helps that I'm the yeoman to Captain Holiday, a get a pre-view of bios when people are coming onboard."

Greg smiled back. Well, at least it isn't a higher ranking officer this time. he thought. "Ah, I see. So one would say you know more about me then my own family?" he teasingly asked. "I hope the preview showed an excellent record."

Streching her legs out infront of her, Rebecca settled back into her seat as her eyes moved to watch the others milling around them. The man beside her still held her attention though, "Well now...if I told you that I would probably need to kill you. Can't be letting out secrets hidden in people's files can I?"

Especially the embarrassing ones...., Greg thought. "That's good. I know anything important would be between you and me." He glanced around the room again, before looking back at her, smiling. "Though I'm sure my performance here will be sure to impress you."

A movement caught Rebecca's eye as the man she'd been watching out for entered the room. "I'm sorry...do you mind excusing me for a moment?"

"Sure, no problem." Greg replied, "See ya around."

Carrying a PADD to take notes, ad a large coffee, Rheneas took his seat somewhere in the middle of the room. He was glad he didn't have a presentation to give today, and thus didn't envy those that did have to speak for one bit!

"I can't believe you talked me into this," Noah groused as he and Yasmin found some of the few remaining seats available. The auditorium was one of the largest he'd ever seen, and any attempt to count those in the audience promised only to give him a headache that even Allyndra's drugs would be hard-pressed to control.

That being said, inwardly he was looking forward to the event - if only to get a better feel for more of the crew. He'd met some in passing over the past weeks - not all the interactions as awkward as the first - and to her credit Yasmin had enjoyed the experience as well.

Admittedly, a part of him hoped once this symposium was over she would see that there really was no reason to head out with the ship when it left Jupiter Station. She'd had a chance to interact with the science staff on the station - surely that should be enough to quell her interest - but knowing his sister, he was stuck with her for the duration.

Lady Olenna entered wearing a fabulous Charcoal pant suit. Miyna followed her as they searched for a seat. It had been some time since Olenna had attended such an event. They reminded her of her time with the Senate, all the symposiums, and conferences. Most would find them boring, but not Olenna. she was a sponge when it came to knowledge.

Markum Quinn entered into the massive auditorium and stopped, stopped to take in the presence of so much knowledge and experience that has come to this one place. He moved towards the back of the room, finding a seat that the CoB could sit in and listen.
