Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: USS Galileo: Docking Port
Timeline: MD89 10.30

Previously....

Mal shook his head, "I'm strictly independent. Transport and courier services. I chose my clients and set my own course. See the galaxy under my own terms. Not tied down to anything. Or anyone." he paused, raised a dark eyebrow, "Unless I want to be, and have successfully negotiated limits and safe words."

Rebecca couldn't prevent the laugh that escaped as she felt the turbolift slow as it prepared to stop. "It can be a dangerous universe out there at times. A warm body can do wonders when your feeling lonely on your own."

And Now....

As the turbolift opened, Rebecca raised an eyebrow in the man's direction before leading the way to the conn and indicating for Miraj to take a seat. "I'd invite you to take a ride but the station might not appreciation us wrapping their berth to pieces trying to get away unauthorised. For the moment, see how she feels. You'll be her boss after all."

The bridge was deserted. With the ship docked, there was no need for anyone to be there. Before she could dash out, Mal grabbed her, hugged her, and leaned down to her ear. "Remember what I said, don't get into trouble."

Se looked up at him. "I promise."

He fluffed her bunches. "Good girl, go play."

And Miraj didn't have to be told twice, bounding to the conn and running her fingers over it lovingly, oohing and aahing over the smooth curve on the conn, and shucking off her boots to feel the vibrations from the sleeping ship on her bare feet. The carpet was coarse and practical, but she could still pick up the background hum. Then she sank down into the smooth cream leather of the seat, rubbing up against it like a cat, almost purring. "Hello Galileo," she whispered. "I'm Miraj. When you wake up, we're going to have lots of fun together."

WIth Miraj occupied having nerdgasms at the conn, Mal turned back to Rebecca. "She's going to be busy for a while. Care to walk me out? Tell me more about relieving the loneliness of space?"

Hesitating for a moment, Rebecca rubbed one hand up and down her arm as she watched the young girl and the pure pleasure and happiness which alite her face. The woman found herself thinking back to when she'd been twenty one...how life had been so different. The youth and innocence no longer existed...replaced by corruption and iron grit. Its how she'd wanted to be and made her choice to be....

Rebecca became aware that Malcolm still awaited her answer. Turning to him with a smile, she indicated back towards the turbolift. "You think it's safe to leave her on her own?"

"Sure. She'll be fine. She won't break anything. On the contrary, you may have to send in some burly security types to peel her off the console." He looked Rebecca right in the eyes, let the look smolder for a moment. "I on the other hand can't be left alone for a minute. I might do something unmentionable naughty. With any luck."

Rebecca faltered in her step a little before straightening her back as she nodded towards one of the bridge's skeleton crew and called the turbolift back to collect them both. "Look...Malcolm..."

Rubbing her hand across the back of her neck, the woman looked away as she tried to work what she wanted to say, "Things are a little complicated right now so if you are coming onto me...well I guess it isn't an if...well..."

Malcolm took looked a bit like a kicked puppy as the turbo lift began to drop. Then he stepped out of her personal space, and gave a little bow. "Yes, it is a come on. You're too beautiful not to. But if this is not our time..."

Rebecca leaned her back against the turbolift, resting the back of her head against the cool metal before before she issued a command for the pod to stop leaving them both suspended in the tube as the turbolift waited to be resumed. "Can I be honest with you?"

He looked at her, measuring her again. This time there was more thought in it than lust. "I hope so."

Rebecca just stared at the ceiling for a few moments more, before finally lower her gaze and meeting Malcolm's gaze head on. "A week ago I'd have had you against that conn which your sister sits at. I'd have you stripped against the wall of this turbolift, begging me to give you more as I worshiped your body and took what I wanted before walking away. Just as you've done many times yourself...and probably will again when I will become nothing more than a distant memory."

"Those are images that will keep me warm in the loneliness of space." He smirked at her, "Except possibly the bit where you mentioned Miraj. All I'll think about is her being there at the same time and that puts a guy right off his stride." He folded his arms across his chest. It strained the sleeves of his long coat in interesting ways. "But...?"

Rebecca tilted her head back again as her eyes moved back to the roof of the turbolift as she tried to piece together her thoughts. The man's body...it was nothing less than that of a god. The muscles...if this had been one week ago she'd have jumping him a hundred times over by now.

But it wasn't...and what had changed? Wilhelm...he had. "My life got turned upside down so much that I can't even manage to flirt with you without becoming tongue tied. I can't even enjoy your body without comparing it to another."

He raised an eyebrow "Sounds terrible. He must be something special if he's stopped you being you so very suddenly." The turbo lift doors slipped open. Malcolm stepped out and offered Rebecca his hand. "It is a he, isn't it?"

Rebecca hesitated for a moment before taking the stranger's hand and exiting the turoblift herself. The gesture was strange as there was nothing around which she could trip over but guessed that the thought matter.

His words made her smile as the yeoman looked over at Malcolm, "It's horrendous....I don't want any of it...I want my old self back."

He pulled her arm over his. He was escorting her to the docking hatch, more than the other way round that it was supposed to be. "Then take it back." He stopped at the hatch doors, and they hissed open.

As she allowed Mal to retain her arm, Rebecca shook her head gently before coming to a stop and move her body so as they say each, "I don't know how...he's a good man and I don't want to be the one who breaks his heart."

He looked at her. "If the choice is damned if you do and damned if you don't, always be damned for what you have done. The only people who don't hurt are dead." He reached into a pocket and pressed a small isolinear rod into her hands. "My new subspace radio details. I forgot to give them to Midge. Can you see that she gets them?"

He leaned down a little so his lips were close to her ear, so close she could feel his breath across the sensitive skin beneath it. "...Eventually."

Rebecca shivered as she felt his warm breath against her ear, closing her eyes for a moment as it brought back memories of a different man...a man who, as Malcolm had rightly put, had damned her.

Taking a breath, Rebecca curled her fingers around the rod before taking a step back. "So den Buleinen entgehen lassen. Segel weg von dem sicheren Hafen. Fangen Sie die Passatwinde in den Segeln . Erkunden. Traume.Entdecken."*

"Sounds profound. Bon Voyage, Rebecca." He gave her a last smile, one that could shatter a vow of chastity at fifty paces, and was gone, the hatch doors snapping shut and leaving her alone.

Rebecca watched as the doors closed on her final chance of taking charge of her life and realising freedom. As her hand knotted in her uniform trousers, the woman felt a flash of something in her mind before turning sharply on her heel and moving away. She needed to get this sorted and she had over twenty four hours to succeed....
