Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: Sector 053 - USS Galileo
Timeline: MD 01 - 0510 hrs

Previously, on Battle for Empires (Part 3)...

"Enemy ship de-cloaking port side bearing 227," He looked up from his station "It's the ISS Galileo and she's pissed," He replied the ship rocking again. "Firing phasers to intercept incoming torpedoes, remodulating shields to compensate for the phaser fire. Torpedoes away, full spread," he said not looking up, his hands dancing across his console.

Galileo returned fire against the armored warship as best the tiny ship could. The nimble Nova-class swerved and used several nearby Klingon-Cardassian warships for cover while she made a break for the votex, after which she entered into the subspace rift which created a massive electromagnetic ripple through the cosmos.

Unbeknowst to the belligerents the tiny ship was shadowed by something else. Something that passed though some of the others like a ghost through a wall, nothing hardly more than a ripple but just before the little ship disappeared the ripple resolved for just the briefest moment into a sliver disk and then itself seemed to wink from existence.

Where the ship had gone, no one could be certain at first, but around the asteroids of the Nimbus belt, the Terrans and Klingon-Cardassian Alliance continued to wage war. A war to determine the final fates of the Empires.

And Now, the Continuation...

[ON]

A spectacular subspace eruption illuminated the surround space in Sector 053. Accompanied by a bright blue accretion disk, the dark portal suddenly spewed a tiny starship from its vortex, and sent USS Galileo spinning wildly out of control and back into its own universe. Just as soon as the distortion had appeared, it then collapsed back in on itself and dissipated from the cosmos with a light trail of fading green particles.

All across the Nova-class, main power failed and primary conduits began to erupt from cascading surges. Sparks, explosions, and debris soon littered almost every corridor and workstation, and the primary lighting failed which cast the interior decks in a deep red alert hue.

"Report!!" Holliday called out over the screeching alarm sirens and the hiss of coolant pouring from the destroyed conduits above his head. He already had a pretty good idea of what his senior officers would soon respond with.

"I want a review of all primary systems immediately!"

Min, strapped into her chair this time as she was expecting a rough ride, ran her fingers ovcer the console as the ship's status came up on her display. "Main power is offline, Primary computer core is down, secondary systems non-responsive."

“We're out of control on the Y and Z axes, sir,” Jynn called out in reply. "Guidance systems are fuzzy and helm control is sporatic at best! I'll do what I can but we'll need more system stability fast!”

Luke held onto his console with whitening knuckles as another erupted in a cascade of spark next to him, the conduits breathed a sigh of coolant as it snapped allowing a thin mist to begin wrapping it smoky tendrils around his legs and the rest of the bridge. "Auto Targeting's Offline, Manual is running on back up." He scrolled through the increases list of damages and power failures to all the security systems. "Torpedoes and phaser offline, shields are at 17% and dropping. Security teams reporting in across the ship multiple injuries with one severe, Compensating power to Auxiliary shields." he waited with anticipation "Shields holding at 5%, that was too close. Weapon systems and Targeting are all down, remaining power is being used by auxiliary shields sir"

"Transfer what power is available to structural integrity Miss Nicholas. The last thing I want is us coming apart at the seams before we even know what's going on." Holliday replied as his own console finally began to receive data from the rest of the ship's systems.

Sensors were not exactly cooperative but from what he could see they had gotten off far lighter than could have happened.

"I want a full damage report - go deck by deck if you have to, and an up to date casualty list. Do we have communications?"

"Barely Sir. Short range at best, the long range transmitter arrays were destroyed the last trip through the portal."

Deck 5 - Intelligence

Lights flickered, dimmed and came back online. Tyrion looked up and around as he tried to put his computer back together again. He would need help from engineering but for now he would try to do it himself. There wasn't much else he could do, he still remained a computer systems specialist even if he was the chief of intelligence. Well, since recently anyway, he didn't feel like he'd had much of a chance to prove himself. But maybe, he thought, his time would come.

Deck 4 - Engineering

Rheneas growled as he yanked the isolinear chips from their sockets. If one could call them chips because these were just wrangled bits of plastic. "Need some help overhere!" he yelled out, "this thing is a mess and if we want power, we're going to have to fix this first."

Eva rushed over. She could see the mess of slagged isolinear chips in Rhen's hands. "Can we go to backups? We used up most of our spares on the last trip.

"Do we have the power reserves for that?" Rheneas asked anxiously while inspecting the chips. "This one looks like it's repairable, maybe we can repair a few and reroute the rest?"

Cameron slid down the rungs of the ladder from the upper level, his toolkit strapped to his waist as he dove under a nearby console to try and help with the problem.

"It doesn't look like the feeds to the tactical systems are too badly damaged! Maybe we can use them as a workaround?"

"Backups shouldn't consume any extra power, and if they get the power back up sooner it'll be a moot point."

Rheneas shrugged. "I don't have that kind of expertise to judge. "

K’os looked much paler than he normally did as he scanned over the main systems display. He followed Min’s changes to the power grid carefully to learn how she prioritized where to shuffle the power feeds. When he was confident they were somewhere on the same wave of thinking he turned towards the huddled engineers. “Reroute what you can through tactical sensor systems. Back up power is holding steady and the protected generators we set up beforehand are keeping the holodeck power storage Lieutenant Jones created steady. Use what power you need from those reserves to prioritize propulsion and communication systems.”

"Except all these chips are fried sir," Rheneas protested, holding up a handful of coloured and mangled bits of plastic. "Do we have spares?"

“Pull them out of the salvaged consoles we piled in B section. There should be viable chips there.” K’os rubbed his forehead as if simply wiping the sweat would wipe away the fatigue he felt.

Deck 3 - Sickbay

Holding her hand to her abdomen as anything cramp threatened to bring her to her knees, Dru gritted her teeth against the pain as her fingers flew across the biobed console. As the ship rocked and threatened to throw them all to the floor once again, the counsellor struggled to remain on her feet. "What the hell is happening?!?"

"I think we're going home..." replied Tuula, as she clung to a biobed for support. Jaana had run off to secure her station and fetch Gilbert before they have another tribble disaster, and she was starting to get her bearings in terms of what had to be done.

Into the place that was still covered with blood on the floor and on a biobed there suddenly appeared without the sparkle or other indication of transport Allyndra. It was as if someone had just opened a door and there she was. A magician would have been proud of the trick that was no trick.

Naois was lying on one of the beds, staring at the ceiling. He tried to forget about his injuries, but with the jostling the ship was going through, it was impossible. He cried out when he tumbled off the bed, and connected with the deck. Tears sprang into his eyes as he rolled under the bed, feeling it was much safer under it, than on it. But the agony it gave him, he would never be able to put it in words. He lay there, curled up as much as his broken ribs allowed, gasping for breath.

Allydnra took a breath and blinked. The calmness of the Fold Ship now as the chaos of the Galileo and she blinked again trying to get her bearings. Next to her Tuula was there and she asked, "Are you alright Tuula?"

"Yes, I think so..." replied Tuula.

"Very good, with this transition and what has transpired I suspect we will be needing to handle a lot of bumps, cuts and bruises," It was only then that she finally took note that at least on bed was occupied.

"Naios?" Allydndra said. "Oh my. What happened?"

Hearing the CMO's voice, Naois crawled from under the bed, but remained on the floor as he lacked the energy to get up. "Mirror Jaana," he managed between gasps, "please, help me up...and sedate me. The pain..." He held up what was left of his right hand and swallowed a few times, unable to avert his eyes. "It hurts.. "

Allyndra moved quickly. She noted biobed one which she had been was an absolute mess, two which Naios was under had Tuula on it and was something less messy, three was still in decent shape. She bent and helped him up. "Tuula can you fetch 20ccs of triptacederine stat please."

"Right away, doctor," repled Tuula as she pushed herself across the room towards the medical replicator, hanging on to whatever she could for support on the way.

She turned her attention back to Naois. "Let's take a look at that hand," Allyndra said while Tuula got the anaglesic on board. Twenty ccs was a big dose. Naois would not feel a thing if he managed to stay awake fairly soon.

Trembling all over, but working up the courage to offer his hand, Naois cast her a fearful look. "It..." He tried to move his fingers but all but fainted as he tried. "cannot move," he finished, "can you heal it?"

Allyndra took a quick look but she was not going to give a prognosis on the spot until more scans and more time to look. It did not look good but the first off was to get bleeding and pain reliever on board. "We will need to get a better assessment. Let's get the bleeding stopped and get you rested first." Allyndra was fairly certain on first blush that it did not look good.

"Tuula can you take over here? I am going to get the place cleaned up since I fear we are going to have a lot more people showing up and I don't want the place looking like a house of horrors."

"I'll... do what I can." said Tuula, looking down at the hand. It was mangled pretty badly; she had yet to see an injury so severe from which they were able to save the hand afterwards. But she would do what he can for Naois, even if it meant dozens of reconstructive surgery. "I'm going to try to stop the bleeding," she said, taking his hand in hers. "How are you feeling? Is the pain medication starting to kick in?"

The half-Vulcan seemed to nod, though it was minute. "It is," he replied slowly, as if he had to concentrate on just producing words. "I feel...not so good. Increased pressure on sinuses, difficulty breathing..." He focused on giving a medical assessment on his own battered condition, as it did give him something else to focus on. And as bad and as good as he could manage, though it went slowly and with long pauses as he gasped for breath, he gave his own analysis of his injuries. His expression was vacant, his eyes dull with pain as he spoke.

"Okay..." Tuula took a deep breath and began scanning Naois carefully from head to toe. "You took some blows to the head as well. Fractured cheekbone, bruising..." she waved her tricorder down towards his chest. "Cracked ribs, punctured lung..."

Quickly, she closed the tricorder and pulled a tray of instruments towards her. "I'm going to stop the bleeding," she said, pulling out a vascular regenerator. "I just need you to hold still, take deep, steady breaths, and keep talking to me..." Deftly, with her laser scalpel, Tuula sliced away Naios' shirt to reveal his bruised chest. "Tell me about your children; what's Delon's favourite food?"

Trying to take deep breaths, Naois told her about his son's favourite food, and how he was looking forward to being reunited with them. His tale came in pauses as he had trouble keeping focus. he was so tired, but he knew sleep was bad until she had a chance to heal some of the damage.

Allyndra busied herself getting some of the mess cleaned up but there was something else that she needed to do. The look of Naois hand was not encouraging but she had not come back aboard empty handed. What she did have though required thought and contemplation but right now it needed to be put away safely. Again she spared a glance at the two before heading into the office, one with a ruined hand and the other with legs that did not fully work and in her pocket was a high probability that both could be restored. It made her feel funny, like a wizard with a bit of magic but hoarding it away.

She disappeared into the office then and removed the records she had been given from the Akkadian ship and securely locked them away. Looking out at the sickbay and what had happened there and yet now here she was whole and fresh as though nothing had ever happened physically. She sighed there would be time for dealing with dilemmas later, right now handle the hear and now.

Gyce was very much awake. Weak from a fair about of blood loss. But not that the EMH had plasma flowing into her, the Bajoran watched in intrigued silence as the medical department handled the crisis.

When Allyndra returned she began to help the rest. Gyce needed a transfusion and she was about to start that when there was the distinct sound of transporter activity.
