Gyce had taken it easy for a the last few days. Light duty, but she kept her brig feeds on her personal computer to keep track of the Mirror Abbey. And now, hearing she was being released, Gyce knew she had to do all in her power to keep the girl out of her department.

Respectfully, she hit the chime on Holiday's door and waited for permission to enter.

"Come." Holliday replied a the doors slid open to reveal his security chief to him. She had warned him that she would want to return once she had dealt with Abbey, and he already had an idea of where the tone of the conversation was going to go.

"Lieutenant. Take a seat. How can I help?"

"Thank you Sir," Gyce spoke respectfully as she had a seat in the chair closest to her. "I just got your request to release Miss Abbey and I firstly want to assure you that my objections have nothing to do with her release, Sir. But rather how she ended up in the brig."

Holliday sat back in his chair and took in a breath as he took note of his CSO's issue with their latest arrival. It was true that he had authorized her release, following the agreement between himself and the Admiral of how to proceed, but beyond that he was unsure as to how next to proceed.

"Carry on Lieutenant. Please, speak freely."

"Thank you Sir," Gyce nodded respectfully. "Mine and my staff's experiences with Miss Wyatt are jaded at best, as she in the Terran Empire's employ, attacked us. And I can't imagine she would be released, only to stay in her assigned quarters, doing nothing."

Gyce took a deep breath and prepared for the real burden on her mind with Abbey.

"It goes to conclude that she would need a job," the Bajoran continued. "Even though she has the physical training for a security officer, I am requesting that at this time, she not be assigned to me. My reason for this request is that her actions since being here, are not that of a trustworthy person. And giving her a gold uniform and a phaser means giving her emergency security override ability that would be foolhardy to do at this time."

Holliday had to admit he struggled to see the flaw in his Chief's thoughts. He too had a security and tactical background, and had been through the exact same thought process.

"I see your point Lieutenant. However...at some point she is going to have to integrate with this crew, and at some point she is going to need to work somewhere, like we all do. I must admit, I struggle to see where else to position someone who was essentially a soldier, outside of your department."

"I will be honest... I will not be putting her in my duty roster rotation any time soon," Gyce spoke frankly. It was her right to decided her department's work roster after all. "Luke has an anger in him I can't rightly say he'd keep in check if she was an every day face in front of a cell. And until she's proven herself to be trustworthy, the only thing I'll slate her for is training."

Holliday raised an eyebrow at the abrupt response from his officer. He said nothing but knew full well that if he wanted to, he could override her and have Abbey assigned wherever he wanted on his ship irrespective of his department head's protesting. However, right now he did not need an argument with one of his said department heads whilst the dust was still settling.

"I will take your comments under advisement Lieutenant. I appreciate your honesty and candour on the subject. I think perhaps a little further investigation of the situation is what is needed here. I'll bring it up with the Admiral at our next meeting, for now I will keep her name off of the active duty roster however."

"Thank you Sir," Gyce nodded, much of her tension gone now. "And I shall put together a training regimen for her, if indeed, she wants to be part of our crew - If you have no one else interested, that is."

"Always plenty of interest in our little boat." Holliday replied with a smirk, remembering the length of the transfer request documentation he had received from Command. It seemed Galileo was making a little name for herself in the fleet, and as such potential officers and crew seemed to be queueing up.

"You're free to return to duty."

"Thank you Sir," Gyce nodded respectfully and made her way out the door.
