Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: Multiple
Timeline: MD 16

ON:

Olenna paced the length on her assigned quarters, peering with disgust at the Federation decor. She was waiting for communication from Galileo. Several attempts at communication had been made, with few good results. Ultimately the Ambassador decided it would be acceptable for The ship's Captain to contact her once they were en route to Jupiter Station.

Still she waited, and waited, and waited. She had contemplated nearly three hundred times, contacting Mhiessan and cancelling her endevour on Galileo.

She found herself almost excited by the sound of the incoming transmission alert. the Romulan rounded the room and seated herself at the appointed desk, before activating the room's viewscreen.

"Captain Jonathan Holliday, USS Galileo." John replied as the image of the Romulan ambassador appeared on his viewscreen. He did not take kindly to Command ordering him to make contact with a diplomat out of the blue and as such decided he would keep this as short as possible until he knew exactly what was being expected of him.

"I am told you wish to speak to me?"

Olenna was a amused by the Captain's bluntness. "I am Lady Olenna of Mhiessan, does that ring a bell with you Captain?"

Holliday was bemused as to why he should be aware of a Romulan dignitary. They were all the same as every other diplomat he had ever had the misfortune of dealing with - self centred with an agenda to only suit themselves whilst appearing to be a beacon of peace and openness.

"I cannot say that it does Lady Olenna. Perhaps you could enlighten me? I'm sure you are aware my ship is rather a busy place right now so I would appreciate an answer to my question that wasn't in itself, another question."

"I was scheduled to come aboard Galileo some time ago, as an Observer for the Empire, but when I arrived at the rendez-vous point you were no where to be found. Commodore Halliwell said something about being lost." After allowing a smile to fall on her lips, she straighted her face. "Now if you wouldn't mind telling me why there was such a delay?"

Holliday looked away for a moment as his attention turned to another screen on the substantial desk that sat in his ready room. After confirmation of the Ambassador's transmission source, the security of the channel, and confirmation that she held sufficient authorisation to be made aware of his ship's previous circumstances, he turned back to face the Ambassador.

"The USS Galileo was the victim of a technical malfunction that led to our transfer to the Mirror Universe. Following suitable repairs to the vessel we were able to replicate the malfunction and return ourselves to our own universe. The vessel is now undergoing repair and resupply. I am transmitting a copy of my report to Starfleet Command - I believe it should offer sufficient detail as to the reason for our delay."

Jonathan looked again to a second monitor to identify the relevant files before adding it to his subspace transmission to the Romulan Ambassador.

"I believe we were recorded as missing in action by Command following our disappearance during the NIMBUS games which likely added to the confusion. But I can assure you Ambassador that we are very much in one piece."

"I'm ...glad ...to hear that Captain . " Olenna spoke softly. " Have my arrangements been made for my arrival?"

Holliday once again had the chance to look puzzled at the question. It seemed whatever orders had been issued that assigned this diplomat to his ship had entirely bypassed him, and as such nothing had been done.

"Ambassador - up until about thirty seconds ago I had no knowledge that you were even going to be setting foot on my vessel. As such no 'preparations' have been made. I think I may have been kept in the dark regarding your assignment?"

Olenna was surprised. Never had she thought that the Federation would keep Ship's Captain out of the loop about the arrival of a Foreign diplomat. Then again, the Federation lost one of their ships.

"I see, " Olenna pursed her lips, "When will you arrive at Jupiter Station?"

Holliday took a moment to look down at his console once again, accessing the flight logs to confirm their progress towards the Sol system, and the aforementioned Jupiter Station.

"At present speed we are still six days away. The Galileo is not the fastest ship in the fleet unfortunately so it takes a little longer than perhaps a larger vessel might require."

Despite becoming more and more frustrated, Olenna kept a stoic face."I supposed that will have to do." She turned her head a moment, then peered into the Captain's face."We will speak more in person."

"Indeed. Until then Ambassador." Holliday replied, noting the look of fire in the diplomat's eyes as the channel closed and the image of her face was quickly replaced by the Federation logo, leaving the Captain alone to contemplate the complexities of a diplomat amongst scientists....

Ha! I was truly amused by Olenna's turnaround from Oh you're not dead yet? to Okay let's talk about me and what I'm going to need in my quarters. I'm excited for her to join the crew properly now!
