"Another one." Paul thought to himself in frustration. "Aren't you all just so friggin perfect." Paul whispered out loud to himself as he increased the briskness of his walking pace. The endless parade of physically fit crewmembers on board the Galileo had caused Paul to grudgingly undertake a misguided and generally poorly constructed exercise plan; a plan that included walking while listening to news recordings from the Federation service.

For what Paul convinced himself was a change of pace - but what was actually a futile attempt to avoid a reputation as a weirdo - Paul had decided to proceed down to the fourth deck.

Abbey was walking happily down Deck fours corridor with a spring in her step. She had spent the most part of an hour on the holodeck practising her routine for swan lake and was still wearing her light pink tu-too when she left.

Paul turned a corner and stopped in his steps. He expected to see nobody and a young lady in a tu-tu on a starship is very nearly the most opposite thing in the universe to nobody. Paul tried his best to stifle a laugh. For a moment he considered turning tail in the opposite direction but decided a direct route was best. "I can honestly say I've never seen that before." Paul said smiling as he walked toward the crewperson.

Turning around and seeing no one was behind her she lifted her hand and pointed to her chest "Me? Din't you hear Pink fluffy tutu's are the new regulation dress!" She smiled at the man. "Of all the things to not have seen someone wearing this" She gave a slight bow as she waved her arms down her body "Wasn't something I would have expected."

"I had heard something about a 6 year old being put in charge of Starfleet. I just didn't think we'd all be upconverted to ballerinas so quickly." Paul smirked and extended his hand to the young lady. "I'm Paul Alasia - I'm the new diplomatic officer."

Abbey liked Paul and met his hand with hers "Abbey Wyatt I am one of the Science Cadets around here but also the resident nuisance slash fun girl around here!" It sounded better in her head but she shrugged it of. "I've not seen you before?" She noted bluntly.

"That's good news since I've not been here before." Paul chuckled and gestured around the hallway. "Never really got a chance to see this part of the ship."

Abbey looked confused and smiled awkwardly "I meant you, on the ship" She couldn't help the giggle that escaped after.

"Oh, you meant on the Galileo. I'm pretty new so I don't think I've met everyone yet."

She shrugged "That's fine there's a fair few people on the Galileo despite it being a small ship!"

"So, you're a cadet? How did you land a plum starship gig? I didn't actually go to the Academy but I hear these kind of placements are tough to come by."

"Oh. Well, my dad kind of ended up joining this ship after his was destroyed and the Galileo rescued them then because of some Borg attack which he helped to free some people from a Cube and meeting a completely new species who used the drones as pets finally set them free. I heard someone got dunked in goo completely starkers? Anyway, when I found out I asked to move from the station I was posted on as a cadet crewman apprentice to the Galileo and thanks to a bit of help from my father and Commodore Lirha who was the ships Captain at the time I got the placement" She said taking in a deep breath.

"That's awesome. I didn't know the Academy experience was so practical and hands-on. I went through OCS - just for a year - and it was pretty much exclusively classroom work and drill."

"It usually isn't but they can grant special reasons especially if the ship has ex Academy instructers which thankfully we are in an abundance of, but I do think my final exams have to be done at the academy for me to truly graduate" She explained.

"When do you graduate?"

"With any luck within the next couple of years over I've already done the first year projects and assignments but it really depends on the commodore and my instructors"

"Are they going to let you stay on board when you're finished?"

Abbey hadn't thought about that and bit the inside of her cheek "I hope so" She said simply thinking about the other possibility.

"I mean, there's more to this job than science ship duty. Nothing else appeals to you?" Paul asked.

Abbey shook her head "Not really, I do like the idea of being able to fly on of them but Science is my true calling and its better here because my dads around to keep me on my toes" She smiled.

"Yeah, so who is your dad anyway?" Paul asked

"Oh, He's the Acting Chief Security Officer on board though Im pretty sure he still classes himself as a full time Marine and a Pain in the ass" She joked. "I do love him though!"

"Your dad is the CSO? I didn't even occur to me that I hadn't met him yet. That can't be good, right? He'll probably think I'm some kind of spy, the way I snuck past him on-board

"Actually it's kinda good you haven't it means you haven't got in trouble!" She returned the comment.

Paul laughed. "That's an excellent point. Anyway, Abbey, it was an absolutely pleasure to have met you." Paul extended his hand to the young lady. "I think I'll leave you to your ballet... ballet-inging.... ballerina-ing. Paul raised his eyebrows in mock-arrogance. "Bet you didn't think I was so cultured, huh?"

"Ballet" abbey laughed shaking the mans hand "You to Mr Alasia!" He released the Shake and smiled before hurrying along her way down the corridor.

TAG - in the interest of the ongoing spelling convo I think you want "too" and "Mate" unless I'm misreading it.

If it's the bit I'm reading then no it's meant to to be 'You to Mr Alasia'
