Mission: Episode 06 - Legend of Souls
Location: USS Galileo - Transporter Room, Science Labs
Timeline: MD 04 - 0815 hrs

[ON]

Jared was feeling a little nervous as he headed to the Transporter Room. Not for himself. He was used to being on his own and for taking care of himself. It was Min, he was worried about. Min and the baby. His baby. Well technically not his biologically, but still his.

He'd just have to trust in the fates that she would be alright. He approached the door and forced himself to smile.

Stace was already in the transporter room, suited up to the hilt with an EVA suit and all of the technical gear she could carry. She checked the chronometre and crinkled her nose at the transporter officer to indicate that she herself was a little early. The doors opened and she flicked her attention upwards in a cumbersome fashion, dropping her tricorder from her belt onto the floor. She looked at it with hopeless abandon and just shook her head.

Jacob walked in all the ready as he was ever going to be. He saw Stace and walked over to her just as she dropped her Tricorder. He picked it up and handed it back to her. He held on to it for a moment, playfully allowing her to try and take it then let her have it. "You might need this instrument Norvi... you never know when some ninjas might be about and you wouldn't want a bunch of invisible ninjas about would you?"

The Trill cocked her head to the side and raised her eyebrow, shooting a glare to Jacob as she snatched the tricorder from his grasp. "Ninjas?" she questioned, emphatically motioning up and down her body as it was contained, bulkily, inside her suit. "What could I do in this with a bunch of ninjas around me? Fall on top of them?" She shook her and then flashed a smile. "I hate these things. I work so hard on my figure and all for nothing!"

Jacob shook his head, "Norvi, you are a gorgeous woman, so that shouldn't even concern you. Look at me!" Jacob walked around over acting like he was some kind of robot just to make her laugh. "I look like a tank; and I mean not that I haven't been called a 'tank' before, but with this thing on, I really AM a tank!"

Stace let out a small laugh as she shook her head at him. "Vanity, eh?" she replied, patting him on the back.

Andreus Kohl came lurching into the Transporter Room next. Even with his motor-assist bands set to the highest setting, beneath his EV suit, beneath his uniform, Kohl's strides weren't as smooth as he would have liked. Although, it was quite possible his own impression of how unsteady he appeared to be was much worse than what anyone else saw. His mind and body were a bundle of raw nerves, but it had more to do with the scanning and testing equipment magnetically locked to various ports and indents on his cream and crimson EV suit. Kohl clasped his helmet between his hands, and he fidgeted with it, tumbling it over and over between his hands.

Kohl didn't say anything, didn't make any greetings, as he entered the compartment. He stared straight ahead at the transporter platform, and he stepped up atop it in resignation. A planetary survey was well outside his comfort zone of expertise and experience. There would be no natural biology to study, perhaps no living tissue, and certainly no interpersonal societies to observe. He would be a junior officer all over again, in his mind, with nothing but rocks and weather to analyse. And so, he placed one gloved hand behind his back to feel for the security blanket that was maglocked to his lower back: a hard-shelled medical kit. Just in case.

Nesh was next to arrive, doing her best to make the EV suit look good. She had been all excited to leap down planetside. It was the closest she was going to get to the action, even if the action was just staring at a bunch of dust specks and making some readings. She had no idea what they were going to find, but boy was she ever excited about it. Bag slung over her shoulder, she grinned at everyone else like a cute little cheerleader. "Hello! I hope I got all the right equipment. I didn't want to bring too much, but you can never be too prepared, right?"

"Well, you made it here on time," Kohl remarked. It was like he pressed a button, and his affable manner flashed on like a light panel. "I imagine too prepared would look more like you were still in a lab, agonizing over the decision about which tools to bring."

"That's a very good point, but I had to drag away another officer last night for just that reason." Nesh grinned, scrunching her nose in an ever-so-adorable manner.

As the others seemed to be hustling and bustling about, the small Aenar zoologist shuffled in. She had her EVA suit snugly secured for her, or would have, except her helmet was on backwards. Threxa didn't seem the least bit bothered by it, instead taking her place with the other scientists. "Hello everyone! It's a lovely morning!"

Corynn'tha came into the Transporter Room and quietly assumed a place and began the process of her EV Suit Checklist.

Evek frowned as he tried to make himself comfortable in his EV suite. The neck hole simply wasn't made for his neck ridges, even if they were soft enough to get pressed down by the suit.

Once the entire away team had assembled in the transporter room, Stace indicated to the stragglers to stand off the pads with her. She looked to Kohl who was already stationed on one of the pads and then nodded to him. "Lieutenant, you take the first group down and I'll follow with the rest." Now speaking to the others she added, "Take your places, people."

The young Cardassian scientist moved in closer as ordered, curious to see what would happen next.

Nodding once at Stace's words, Kohl looked to the right and he looked to the left. Once Coleman, Williams, Emerson and Evek were circled around him, Kohl raised up his helmet, giving it a bit of a spin. He slotted his helmet into place and locked it in. Kohl tapped a contact on the forearm of his suit, which activated the speaker tied into the suit's communication system. To the transporter operator, he said, "Energize."

Stace and her team stood by and watched as the first away team glowed from their abdomens and disappeared with the familiar sparkling sound into thin air. Norvi then ascended the platform herself, allowing the others to follow.

Jacob strode on stiffly still somewhat in his "robotic" motion to keep the mood light and got on the platform. He breathed like Darth Vader and in that voice said to all, "Now we will set these miners straight. We will make them realize that their 'ghosts' are no match for the Force."

Viru had been silent up until this point, taking in the conversation and trying to make himself as invisible as possible. He could sense the heightened tension among the crew. He was also thoroughly confused by Jacob's bizarre display. He leaned in closer to him him as he made himself a caricature of a cyborg.

"I am guessing that is a human cultural reference, sir?" Viru asked, legitimately curious.

Jacob smiled, "Just having a little 'science fiction' fun as it were Officer Viru."

Nesh rolled her eyes as she stepped onto the transporter pad. She must have been missing some important generational gap or something. Maybe it was something to look up later, when she poked at research on humans.

Another figure stepped onto the platform, though seemed absolutely silent and walking backwards. The only tell was the aura of absolute cheer radiating from within the suit itself.

"Energise," Stace said once everyone was stationed. The transporter crewman tapped in commands as their bellies began to grow with a blue, dazzling hue. As the beams of light rose upwards from the middle and downwards towards the feet, Stace and her team began to dematerialise.

Science Lab 2

Dr. Kramer walked into the lab were others had already gathered. He put the remainder of the ham and cheese burrito into his mouth and chewed, hopefully before anyone spoke to him.

Jared looked up at Kramer a small smile forming on his lips. He almost asked him a question in mid-chew, but decided to be a good boy for once.

Getting the last of the food off his teeth with his tongue, Kramer finally asked, "Well Lieutenant, when are we expecting the rest of our gallant team?"

"Good question sir, they are supposed to be here already. I hope you know I behaved myself, I was tempted to see how much self-control you had and whether or not you'd 'spew' if I had said something while you were eating."

Vincent grinned ear to ear at the Lieutenant's suggested action. He raised an eye brow, "Ya, that might not have been pretty. Hah! " After a good chuckle he added, "Yes, I do have to admit, since I'm a civilian I do stretch the rules of conduct a little." He just smiled and rocked his head to the sides at the humor of the situation.

"I have been known to stretch the rules of conduct myself," Jared returned with a smirk, "Sometimes it comes back to bite you in the ass though."

Vincent was about to come back with a smart remark when the doors opened.

Abbey strode into the room her long blue science gown trailing behind her "Morning all!" She smiled standing just off from the two other science officers in the who she guessed were already in mid conversation.

Jared turned to her and smiled, "Good morning," he said returning her gesture.

Vincent turned, nodded slightly, and replied with a smile, "Good morning young lady. Are you ready for an exciting day of discovery?" He raised his eyebrows in a questioning way.

Abbey gave a short cheer whilst throwing her arms up into the air "Of course I am" She smiled standing next to the science station she was assigned to "I wish I could have gone down there though." She had tried to persuade Pendleton to let her accompany him but he was resilient to her powers.

Vincent rocked his head to the negative slightly, and said, "To each his own, deary. I very much prefer to stand off the planet and look down to do my research." He looked over to Jared to see his response.

"Well, I would love to be down there. I'm a linguist and love interacting. But orders are orders and at least I don't have to put on one of those universe damned EVA suits."

Vincent began to chuckle deeply, and slapped Jared on the back a couple times, "Well said, my boy, well said." and laughed a little more.

Jared quirked a brow and laughed along with Vincent.
