Mission: Episode 04 - Exodus
Location: USS Galileo - Passageways
Timeline: MD 03 - 0410 hrs

ON:

Lt. Theron Rhodes had just left Medical. It was heart wrenching for him to see the devastation along the way. The damage to the ship was one thing, but the wounded was another.

With a quick stop in his quarters for a uniform, Theron then headed for the Observation Lounge for the emergency briefing. He additionally picked up some hand weapons from his collection on the wall. He knew how the Borg had/can adapt. He wanted something handy for when the time came to fight again. Walking down the passageway, he was sure to have looked like something out of an Action Holo-Novel of some kind.

He tried to make good use of his time while walking down the passageway. Rhodes adjusted his comm to a frequency for security personnel only. =^= This is Lieutenant Rhodes. I need a sit-rep from all security personnel.=^= He did not want to say any more than that. He knew, that because he had not present nor active when the Borg attacked, others may not accept his authority in the same light. But, he had to focus on the here and now.

=^=This is Mormont. I'm alive and well, as is Stark.=^= Mormont came through in a clear voice and he sounded...well tired, and he felt it physically. He looked over at Stark and gave a quick smile.

Rhodes replied, =^=Good to hear. What is your location?=^=

=^= Deck 3, just outside the Armory, =^= it was Gabriel Stark that answered that time, breathing harder than usual. It had been a close run thing. =^=We held it,=^= he added for good measure, even though it didn't seem to matter now that Borg had been allowed to stay on their ship.

Rhodes added, =^=I Understand. Keep up the good work. I know that the Commander said to stand down. but I also need you to keep an eye on the Borg in your area. Send me a location and activity report on all Borg you see.=^=

=^=We will send you all we have=^= Mormont said and looked over at Gabriel, his eyes gentle. Against all odds, they had done it.

Vernon heard the Nova Class' security chief's call come across his commbadge with a bit of surprise. He wasn't technically a member of Galileo's security team, but for some reason his communicator had decided to include him in the conversation -- which was fine with him! He much rather preferred to be on duty and have something to do rather than wander the ship in limbo with no real assignment.

=^=Warrant Officer Banks here, sir. I was security on USS Venture.=^= he identified himself as he began to speak. =^=I'm on Deck 2 along with four drones who are patrolling the turbolift and corridor junctions. We had a couple casualties during the battle earlier, but they've all been evacuated to sickbay for medical care.=^= he reported.

Rhodes had to think for a minute, about the implications, and then pulled up personnel data on his PADD to verify the story he just heard. =^=Banks, it is good to have you on board. I'm sorry to hear about the Venture. Since you are on Deck 2, I would like you to stay close to the Computer Core. Keep me posted on further movements by the Borg.=^=

=^=Will do.=^= Vernon replied, then tapped his commbadge to end the transmission. He moved down the corridor towards the secured area which contained the entrance to the upper-level of Galileo's computer core and glanced around. No drones were nearby, and those that were on the deck were currently occupied at the far end of the corridor. So far, so good.

Taryn was a bit worse for wear. She cradled her arm against her chest as she moved through engineering. She had been thrown from the cat walk when the ship had been attacked. The scuff with the Borg drone had done the most damage. She had had her arm practically ripped off before she had managed to sink a knife into the brain box of the drone that was trying to assimilate her. Her hand was dead and what little medical training she had told her the nerves were damaged. She tapped her comm, =^=Petty Officer Galespie from the Venture. I am in engineering with what looks like five borg drones. We have managed to disable two, but the final three are in the injector relay system doing who knows what.=^= She paused as she moved to get a clearer view. =^=They don't seem to be two interested in me which is good because I am pretty sure I broke something...What do you want me to do?=^=

Rhodes replied, =^=Excellent work Petty Officer and glad to have you on Galileo.=^= Theron thought about his next statement needing to encourage yet warn at the same time. =^=Please continue to monitor their movements, but stay in the shadow and do not attract their attention." He then added, "I'll make sure that a med-tech is sent your way. =^=Stay frosty down there.=^=

"Out of sight, out of mind." Taryn replied as she moved to a high vantage point. Her progress was slow as she had to climb the ladder with one arm. It was a bit of a challenge. Her good hand slipped causing her to throw her dislocated arm over the rung of the ladder to catch herself. She literally bit the inside of her cheek to keep from screaming out in pain as she pulled herself back up. Finally getting to the platform at the top of the ladder she pulled herself up. The taste of blood filled her mouth but it was a far cry better then fighting a drone. She wasn't so sure she could win again.

Aria swallowed, shocked as she heard Rhodes voice. She felt anger; where the hell had he been? Instead, she swallowed. =^=This is Rice. I am on the bridge for now, waiting to be relieved...Sir.=^=

A large smile came across Theron's face when he heard his friend's voice. Then trying to be more professional, =^=I understand. I have a couple errands, and will then be there to fill you in.=^= He did feel the pangs of wanting to ask how his friend was doing, but did not want to do that over the open channel. He asked, =^=How are you holding up?=^=

Aria looked around at the bridge, taking it all in. What they had lost. Who they had lost. And those left behind. What could she say? Nothing. There was nothing she could say. .= ^=Still breathing, Sir.=^= she said instead, her eyes going to the console.

Theron felt like he could read a library of meaning behind those 'three' words. She must have been through so much. he thought. He simply replied, =^=Good to hear. I will meet with you after the Briefing.=^=

=^=Yes Sir.=^= Aria said quietly and closed the channel.

Theron felt concern for Aria. He had known her capabilities from their time together on the Galileo. But now . . . he also knew that she would either grow or wane from this experience.

Lt. Rhodes continued down the passageway. He felt a little better with the confirmation of the status of each of his team members. Several had not checked in though. "Computer, confirm location of Security Personnel; Davis, Smoak, and Christoph. "

After a moment the response was, "Petty Officer Smoak's remains are in cargo bay 1."

Theron understood that cargo bay 1 now a temporary morgue. He was sure that Smoak fought them to the bitter end.

The Computer continued, "Petty Officer Christoph is in Cargo Bay 2 and listed in stable condition."

Theron let out a sigh of relief. Realizing that he had done this, he questioned his personal feelings for Cami. It was something he would have to follow up on.

The Computer finished its report, "There is no information on location of Petty Officer Davis."

The Security Chief considered the possibilities, This means that Davis is either a casualty or could have also been in part of the ship when it was opened to space or the Borg may have assimilated him. He would ask Lt. Rice what she knew. And that would happen after the briefing.
