| Personal History | Taryn was born on board the USS Galaxy in2360. She is the youngest child to be born tonCaptain Ronald and Lieutenant McCarthy. Her father was second officer of the USS Galaxy at the time and her mother held the position of Chief Intelligence Officer at Taryn's time of hirth. Taryn and her brothers moved around like most Star Fleet children. During the Dominion war Ronald McCarthy was promoted to Captain in the field after an encounter with the Jem Hadar. It was at this point that Taryn and her siblings were sent to live with their grandparents at the Mars colony. Even after the Dominion War came to an end, Taryn's parents elected for her to remain on Mars with her grandparents. By this time her oldest sibling, her brother Ronald had been accepted early into Star Fleet academy. Her sister Sarah also stayed behind. It wasn't until their father was positioned at Star Fleet command that the two young McCarthy girls were reunited with their father. In 2377 Taryn was accepted into the Academy much to her parents satisfaction. She was following in her parents footsteps, but more accurately she was following in her fathers footsteps with her choice to specialize in security and tactical. To say that she excelled would be putting it lightly. Finishing her studies in only three and a half years was a delightful fact to her parents. In 2380, shortly after her graduation, Taryn was given a posting on the USS Galaxy. While it bared the same name as the ship she had been born on, it was not the same class. The ship that had been her childhood home was mothballed after the Dominion War. With the rank of Ensign she served as the Security Investigation Officer until 2383 when she was transferred to the USS Lexington and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. In 2384 Taryn met Commander Gerald Galepsie when he transferred on to the USS Lexington as the Chief Intelligence Officer. After some persistent wooing on the part of Commander Galepsie the pair began to date. Within six months they were engaged to be wed. On April 19th, 2385 they were married on Mars Colony just prior to Commander Galepsie’s promotion to Executive Officer on board the USS Eclipse. Taryn assumed the position of department head within the Security and Tactical department on board the USS Eclipse in 2385 just three months after being married. To her life was grand. The beginning of 2389 would forever change the life of Taryn McCarthy Galepsie. On what was believed to be a standard away mission Commander Gerald Galepsie was killed in action. The loss was more than Taryn could handle. She could no longer stand to walk the same halls and live in the same quarters in which she had shared her life with Gerald. Putting in a transfer she was soon transferred to the USS Galileo as a Security Investigation Officer. |
