Mission: Episode 01 - Project Sienna
Location: Deck 2 - First Officer's Office
Timeline: MD3: 0700 hours

[ON]

Master Warrant Officer Eriksen stepped off the turbolift and made her way towards the first officer's office. She walked with the confident yet easygoing strides of someone who was beautiful, intelligent, successful, and damn well knew it. In her hand she carried a PADD but was not looking at it. Once she reached the office she chimed in.

John had so far had a relatively quiet morning, a couple of junior department meetings, a few shipboard issues to sort out, and a quick communique with Starfleet Medical for an update on his father hadn't exactly taken any significant amount of time, and for the majority, he had not had any reason to leave his office. Not that he minded, sometimes it was nice to be allowed to be alone with one's thoughts and figure out a plan of action. The silence of his thoughts however, was quickly broken by a chime from his office door.

"Enter" He called out in a matter-of-fact way, putting the PADD in his hand back down on the desk, he knew from past experience that there was no chance this was going to be something he could pay attention to and multitask at the same time.

The woman walked in and her firm lips melted into a heartwarming smile for the commander. But just as soon it was gone as she came to attention. She smiled plenty off duty, but on-duty she found it more effective to use her smile sparingly. "Master Warrant Officer Eriksen reporting, sir."

"Ah yes...welcome to the Galileo" John wasn't overly sure why this officer was in his presence, afterall, it was customary for new arrivals to report to their department head rather than to the XO directly, at least, that was how he saw it anyway.

"What can I do for you Warrant Officer? I'm assuming you've already checked in with your department chief?"

"Yes, sir," she replied, taking the liberty of breaking her at-attention stance and moving to stand against the front of the commander's desk. She held out the PADD. "Commander Remington sent me, sir, I've been assigned the Galileo's boatswain. This is the standard operations department duty roster for your review." She waited for his reply

Taking the PADD offered out to him, John took a moment to review the information displayed, it was neat, organised, and clear, just how he liked to receive duty rosters. It bore all the hallmarks of someone who had spent years in Starfleet and learned the perfect way to record information such as this. Pressing his thumb against the panel, he watched as the PADD scanned his print and acknowledged the order, making the roster official before handing it back to the Warrant Officer.

"I am here in person at Commander Remington's request, sir," she continued, accepting the PADD back, "He wants me to acquire personnel from other departments who are cross-trained in operations. He feels the current operations compliment is insufficient to adequately oversee vessel operations in all circumstances, especially in the event of casualties. I am to develop a contingency plan with you and the department heads until we take on more personnel."

"Ahhhh yes I remember reading the report from the good Commander...very thorough, very impressive. Very well Botswain, you have my complete support...you should find a complete list of our crew compliment and their cross-training qualifications in the computer, I'd recommend you take anyone with an Operations rating of 3 or above and start from there....if you need anything from me then go right ahead and ask."

John took a moment pick up a blank PADD, tapping a few controls on his desk before moving his hand over to the PADD and repeating a similar sequence of commands, watching as the information he had called up began to appear on the small screen.

"Here...a copy of our manifest as promised....should save you rooting around in the database for a few minutes at least....how are you settling in on board?"

The sudden change in topic caused her to hesitate, but then she gave a small smile and accepted the PADD. "Thank you, sir," she said warmly, "I'm settling in quite well, sir. The Galileo is a... quaint ship. I think I'll enjoy it."

"Haha, indeed, quaint is one of the words I would use to describe this little lady....still a bit rough around the edges but I'm sure we'll have her whipped into shape in no time. Pass my regards onto Commander Remington when you return that roster, would you?"

"Yes, sir," she replied, stepping back. She indicated the PADD with a lift of her hand, "I'll get back to you within a day as soon as I've got what the Commander needs."

"Very good Warrant Officer, carry on" John replied with a respecting nod to finish, he had been impressed by the conduct and responsibility of their new Boatswain and was very much looking forward to further encounters in the line of duty.

"Good day, Commander."

With a gentle incline of her head, the boatswain turned and made her way out of the XO's office with a purposeful stride.
