Marjorie wasn't sure what happened. By the time she had emptied her case and put everything away, she discovered her only item of value was missing. She had specifically asked that the case not be shaken to protect the content. Figuring it must have been left on the shuttle, she moved to the shuttle bay looking for someone who could help her.

Lamar was currently laying on his back underneath the pylon of a recently-arrived shuttlecraft when he spotted a pair of boots moseying around the craft. He ignored the sight at first and proceeded to continue with his routine maintenance checks, but after a short while he couldn't help but be curious as to why someone appeared to be wandering around the shuttlebay. Scooting himself out from underneath the shuttle, he set his PADD on the ground and got to his feet. He quickly spotted a nearby gold-collared woman who looked unfamiliar, and proceeded to walk up to her to inquire about her presence. "Hello, ma'am." he said politely when he noticed the single solid gold pip on her collar.

Marjorie had to think about the words he said to her before replying. Three words, she minded herself. "Hello to you," she said happy that much was out. She watched his face to see what reaction he would have.

Taking in the sight of the young-looking woman, Lamar smiled pleasantly enough then extended his hand in greeting. "Lamar Darius, support craft pilot." he said to formally introduce himself to the new officer. "I noticed that you looked a bit lost...is there something I can help you with?" he offered.

The ensign accepted the hand and shook it two quick times before letting it go and saying, "I think I misplaced something. On a shuttle. I'm new. Is there a new shuttle here? One with lost things?" The questions were coming out faster than she realized, but at least it made some sense for the most part.

"Oh, um..." he paused to think as the questions and fragmented sentences came out quicker than expected. "Matter of fact, there is." he finally answered, then pointed over towards the craft that he was previously performing maintenance on. "Not sure if there's any 'lost things' on it but it's a new shuttle, just arrived not too long ago. I was about to get it prepped and ready to depart back to USS Venture." he explained.

"May I look in it?" Marjorie asked spinning around looking for the shuttle he mentioned.

Lamar nodded. "Of course, go right ahead." he answered, then walked with her over to the back of the craft where he tapped the hatch release button to open the large sealed door. He stepped to the side to allow her to enter, but not before his curiosity got the best of him. "Can I ask...what exactly are you looking for?"

Not really responding, Marjorie headed into the shuttle. "My mother left it to me," she said looking around the floor trying to remember her path. "Wasn't there another seat?"

"Another seat?" he repeated with a confused frown. Glancing around the small shuttlecraft interior, he didn't notice anything missing, especially something as large as a seat. "No, ma'am. At least, I don't think so. I've been here in the shuttlebay ever since this baby landed and I don't recall seeing anyone remove a seat." he added. "Have you checked the overhead compartments?"

Marjorie's head shot up. Her eye squinted at the light's attack. Above the seat did extend a small overhead storage area that she completely missed when boarding. Not enjoying shuttle rides, she should have been less surprised she'd missed this. "No," she shook her head looking away from them. "It had to have fallen. It's small and purple."

Small and purple, Lamar repeated to himself in his head. Shouldn't be too hard to find...hopefully. Dropping down to one knee, the warrant officer began to slowly search the carpet area beneath the compartments. Several long moments passed in which he found nothing, prompting him to move up closer to the cockpit and start searching underneath the seats. Unclipping a hand-held flashlight from his utility belt, he shined the light across all of the intricate crevices until he finally saw something small gleaming back at him. "I think I might have found it!" he called out, then gestured to the location so that the woman could have a closer look.

Marjorie laid on her stomach to look under the seat which his light was shining. "That can't be it," her voice said filled with depression. "I was no where near this seat." She rolled over and sat up ready to give up her search. They had been at this for long enough that almost every inch of the shuttle had been surveyed. It was time to go back to her quarters and get past the lost of the last thing her mother ever gave her.
