Mor'an was walking in a leisurely manner down the corridor in search of Lt. Amril. She decided it was time she figured out what it was about him that seemed to make some of the crew uneasy. When the crew had first found him it seemed as though everyone was walking on razor's edge. He was just one Vorta.

Rounding a corner, Mor'an caught sight of Lt. Amril walking away from her down the corridor. "Lieutenant Amril!" she called, "Please wait." She hurried forward in case he didn't hear her.

Turning, the man's eyes seemed to brighten when he spotted Mor'an. "Ah, cadet, how are you?" He asked, watching with a slight smile as she hurried forward.

"I am well," Mor'an replied, greeting him with a hand gesture. "Do you have a few moments? I wish to ask you some questions. About yourself."

"Of course," Amril replied readily, "What do you want to know?"

"Well," Mor'an said, looking around for a place to sit. There was none so she continued. "I am not sure where to start, to be honest." She peered at Amril with unabashed interest. "I suppose I shall start with my most pressing question. I hope you do not take offense." She smiled awkwardly. "What is it about you that made everyone else so on edge when we first found you?"

"Oh," the vorta said, letting out a good-natured chuckle. "Most vorta serve the Dominion. You've read about the war between the Federation and the Dominion? It would seem that many of the crew still do not trust me because of my association with their enemies. It is understandable."

"I know that," Mor'an said with a nod. The Academy would never have excluded something as important as the war between the Federation and the Dominion from their curriculum. "What I meant was you personally. I do not know much about the Vorta but surely one of you cannot harm us all. Can you?" She was confident in her own physical and mental abilities, but because she knew very little about the Vorta she was cautious of his potential abilities.

"Me?" he asked with surprise, "I did not even command Jem'hadar. I was a logistics administrator, my position was very similar to what I do here on the Galileo, on a larger scale."

"So there is really no reason for us to be worried about you, yes?" She still couldn't understand why Amril had been put in the brig when they first found him.

"I do not have any loyalty to the Dominion," he pointed out in reply.

"That does not answer my question," Mor'an said, "Is there a reason to be worried about you?" She wasn't asking because she was worried, but simply because she was curious.

Ah, she was sharp. He smiled. "I do not know. What makes humans worry? I am not physically dangerous. The fear they have of vorta comes from our role as commanders of the Jem'Hadar. I don't have any Jem'Hadar, so it does not seem to me like there is a reason to worry. Even if I wanted to... I am not a fighter, I'm an administrator, diplomat, and tactician."

Mor'an thought for a moment to decide if his answer was satisfactory. "So," she said slowly, "The captain realized you were no threat to us and put you on as part of the crew? I know you have knowledge that is useful to us, but it seems odd to me that you are locked up like some dangerous creature and then put in charge of operations like you are a member of Starfleet. I am not sure I understand that. You will have to excuse my ignorance in the matter."

"I am not familiar with the Federation's ways either," Amril offered amicably, "I was also surprised by the captain's decision. I am suited for the job, but the Federation has a great deal of distrust for vorta."

Mor'an nodded. "We are both ignorant to the ways of the Federation. In some cases." An awkward silence settled for a moment. "Where did you come from? Before you arrived here?"

"I was an administrator in Cardassian space during the war."

"But where were you?" she asked again, "Where are you from?" Did he always give vague answers?

"I was in Cardassia," Amril replied, tilting his head to the side as if failing to understand the confusion she expressed. "Before the discovery of the wormhole my predecessors were administrators of cloning facilities and such. Nothing very remarkable, I'm afraid."

Mor'an's lips formed a thin line as she thought about Amril's answer. She found that she was slightly disappointed that he wasn't something more dangerous or exciting before his arrival on board. "You are nothing to fear, then," she said simply. Not knowing what else to say, she decided it was time to part ways. "Well, then, I shall say farewell."

"Oh, all right," Amril said, "Ah, farewell, Cadet."
