The Wild Blue Yonder isn't all that Blue ...

... But that is something I would notice and comment on when others would just take it at face value. Noah always likes to tease me about reading too much into a situation at any given moment, but he's a fine one to talk.

Anyway, I'm well into my first genuine Star Fleet mission. I even have a uniform! Well ... not an official uniform, more of a black work suit with insignia marking me as a student intern. Capital Letters; CIVILIAN - HANDLE WITH CARE. As if I need kid gloves! Fleet officers are soooo sensitive! They welcome me into the labs, provide me with a space to do my work, and then do everything in their power to KEEP me there, lest a causal wander put me - or one of their projects - in peril.

Luckily, not all the officers are so anal. I've made a friend in one Ensign Marika Lenaris. She's an Archaeologist/Anthropologist - just a title, as she's interested in pretty well everything - and she's only a couple years older than me. I love spending time with her in the Lab, and we've hung out more than once on our free time. It's like having a sister with me - if my own sisters hadn't been so much older than me growing up!

I haven't seen Noah around much. He was talking with the counselor before the ship left base, but since then, I don't know. He hangs out with me when he has time - apparently his room-mate is a little nutty, and I currently am flying solo. In a room not much bigger than a closet, but that doesn't bother me. It's enough room to sit and hang out, or we just go to the lounge or something. He seems ok, I think. I'm not really that good with counseling, but he's not as stressed out as before so that has to be good.

He's been distracted lately, though, as we get closer to this colony and that makes sense. I mean ... his boss lady had to go on pregnancy leave and he's had to take some of her duties along with his own. Maybe that's good for him; gives him work to keep his brain occupied and too busy to worry. Maybe I could talk to Marika about it. She studies people - she probably knows something about how they think and act, too! I'll have to remember that for the next time we go out.
