Captain Jonathan Holliday reporting.

The Galileo has arrived in orbit of Lyshan III to a mixed reception - whilst I'm sure the colonists themselves will be pleased that we will be helping with investigations, the Cardassian warship in orbit appeared a little less than grateful.

Their commander, Gul Verrok, is a typical Cardassian - brutish, arrogant, self-assured, no different to any of his predecessors I'm sure and certainly no different to the Cardassians I fought against during the Wars. That arrogance was their downfall decades ago, and I have no doubt that it will be again.

On a personal note, I would like to applaud our CoB, Mr Quinn for his show of restraint during our meeting with the Gul and his aides - given half the chance I would have joined him in leaping across the desk and bloodying that arrogant bastard's nose, but the Admiralty would probably have something to say about that.

Commodore Saalm is the more diplomatic of the two of us - I am sure that I will be seeking her guidance more than once on this mission - the Galileo is not a warship unfortunately, and as much as I would love to let the Cardassians try and make things become violent, we simply do not have the resource to deal with it. I will have to use the softly softly approach for now at least.

The Cardassian commander and his senior officers will be attending a dinner in their honour - what little they have -aboard ship tonight - it was offered as a show of manners but I didn't expect they would accept it. On another personal note - apologies to Mr Quinn.

My dress uniform is awaiting my wearing of it - can't be keeping our esteemed guests waiting now can we? Further updates will follow.

Computer, end log.
