Commodore's Log, Stardate 67234.9

Galileo is scheduled to arrive at Lyshan III in a little under 24 hours. I admit, I have remained rather perplexed throughout our transit and I am not sure what we will discover once we arrive at the mining colony. The reports from Starfleet were vague, at best, and even my rational mind cannot think of a plausible situation which could have resulted in such a widespread labor disruption on the colony.

When I briefed the senior staff, there were a plethora of ideas and probable causes being voiced by many of our officers, but at this point, they are all speculative. Nevertheless, preparations have been underway to explore every possible cause of the labor stoppage. I suppose this is Galileo's first official 'investigation', and I would almost prefer to be doing a routine solar system survey rather than hypothesize about the unknown. Only time will reveal the answers, I suppose, and there is not much more the crew and I can do before we arrive. The anxiety is more frustrating than uncomfortable.

Brief pause and the sound of munching on crispy fruit

On a more tangible note, the crew appear to have adapted to life back in space. I was worried our extended shore leave would make the transition difficult, but everyone appears to be settling in nicely. We have many new crew members who appear to be in good spirits and Captain Holliday is adjusting to his new role as commanding officer rather well. It remains to be seen how the investigation on Lyshan III will progress, but I am confident the crew is more than capable.

Finally, I have heard a few rumors floating around regarding certain...opinions of the Cardassians, and I cannot help but notice that even fifteen years after the war, some prejudices still remain alive and well. Hopefully they will not hamper our mission, and I will be sure to remain diligent while overseeing Starfleet-Cardassian interactions.

Computer, end log.
