Ghosts? Seriously?

ON:

This is Counselor Miir's log, stardate... whatever. Does anyone really pay attention to that part? It's mission day three and we have diverted course to a mining colony where there have been many reported "supernatural occurrences". And it seems that a lot of the crew actually believes that these events are happening.

Maybe it's some kind of unknown alien lifeform? Or mass hysteria?

I realize at this point that anything I encountered on Vulcan must have been a result of a combination of stress and dehydration. Definitely not a ghost. Probably just a hallucination. And it hasn't happened since, so I am not feeling all that concerned about it. These things do happen from time to time.

Maybe the mines are venting some kind of gas that's making the miners hallucinate. I am just shocked that Starfleet is actually entertaining the possibility of this being some kind of metaphysical phenomenon.

It should prove to be interesting regardless. I am happy to be away from Earth again. I always think I miss it and I think I miss my family, but ever time I return they seem to take me to the brink of a nervous breakdown. This time was worse because Olsam insisted on tagging along.

Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for his attempts to remove my implants. He went above and beyond the call of duty for that. But I know better than to ever put him in a room with my sister ever again.

Living on a Starship is for the most part quite predictable, and I like that. And no one wants to pry into the counselor's personal life. Instead, they just pour all of their secrets and the lurid details of their day to day lives. I smile, I nod, I take notes. I sometimes offer vague but arguably helpful advice. This job allows me to be a fly on the wall, observing the day to day lives of the crew.

It's good to be on a Starship again.

End log.
