Really?!

"I mean - really?!"

Scarlet stared into the screen that was recording her with a wide smile, her eyes shining with energy, but she was also in a state of disbelief.

She touched the new rank pin on her collar, shaking her head with awe. "This is just - I never thought it would happen, not this quickly, you know?"

Scarlet laughed softly as she sat back and sipped her wine, pulling a leg up into the chair to hold close to her body. "I would be lying if I said I hadn't been working hard to regain rank," she said softly, shaking her head.

"I had worked so hard to get to where I was in the Marines. When I had to leave it behind and join the regular fleet with Lily, and start all over again - it was so hard," she admitted quietly, even if it might make her sound shallow.

"It was something I had achieved myself. A result of doing good things. To have to start again, it was - hard. But now, I..." she laughed softly, shaking her head, her long, dark hair falling forward over her shoulders with it. "Lieutenant Commander? Second Officer? Just - really? Wow," she laughed warmly.

She couldn't get rid of the smile, watching her hands with sheer wonder. For as long as it felt like she'd been restarted and stuck back down in the ranks, it now felt like all of a sudden she'd made a clear jump. Across a ravine at that. Especially as a counsellor, it was hardly the most command promoted department.

"I guess us counsellors have their uses after all," she said teasingly to the screen making her log. She winked before lifting her glass in a 'cheers' motion before draining the wine down neatly in one go. "Budem zdorovy..."
