It has been strange, my experiences on the USS Galileo so far. The strangest, perhaps, is the simple fact that I have Scarlet here. And that Scarlet was here was just...unbelievable. She is alive, she has a child, she is a beautiful strong woman now. And I am...well. Here. Alive. And me.

Whoever I am now. It's not easy to balance how I feel, or who I am. Most days, I feel like what I am. A middle aged scientist with few friends. And now and then I feel like...a rebellious youth taking a stand in what I saw as a revolution. Because for me that was what the Maquis was back then, when I was young. I felt like...it was the right thing to do. I didn't feel like what history cast us as...terrorists. Not the first year, no. I felt like it was all for the revolution, for the freedom of those caught in the net of this...war.

Looking back, that was a foolish way of thinking about it. But it was my youth and back than I was stupid. Nave. Hell, I was a lot of things. And when it got darker and I realised that our ideals had been replaced by a thirst for vengeance...I was trapped. If you tried to leave, they would kill you. And there was Scarlet too. Scarlet Blake, this girl running around. And I knew she needed to be protected.

Of course I lost her. Of course it all went wrong. But she's here now and she has a child, a beautiful daughter. So maybe it's a chance for me to make amends. Because I know I will be making these amends until I die. Because it's how it is.

Life goes on after all.
