I'm quite relieved we're going on a survey mission, even if it is near Borg territory. It's the sort of mission I expected when I was posted here, and rather than being bored, I expect I'll appreciate the opportunity for down-time, assuming that's in the cards. History suggests otherwise. I'm pleased to see the crew is building its resilience, and that's thanks to the great team I'm fortunate to be surrounded with.

On a personal front, Starfleet Medical has seen fit to give me my own whirlwind of sorts. I expected my time as a doctor was destined to be limited to the not so occasional red alerts aboard while I led our counseling team. Starfleet has re-evaluated its plans for me, and the brass now thinks my time would be better spent split between medicine and counseling.

I can't exactly dispute their logic. I expected to be called upon in a dual capacity when I decided to train in both fields. As a member of Starfleet, I also agreed to serve where needed, and with the staff shortages in places, I can't resent the brass for wanting to put their investment to use. I also can't begrudge Scarlet or Dawn the opportunity to lead. Everyone deserves that, if only so they realize how wonderful and awful it is at the same time. I'm looking forward to it in many ways, as it means I can be more hands on than before, and I'll still be around to be a sounding board.

Our medical team is top notch. There was a time when I couldn't imagine staying, and now I can't imagine leaving. Thank the brass, I don't have to.
