"Computer open first officer's log"

[Log is open]

This is my very first log as first officer of this ship. It is certainly different, but it is not the first time, either.

Anyway, we are on our way to a somewhat mysterious assignment. I don't like those where we're not given enough information, and thus I feel like we are flying in a storm, not knowing which is up or down.

I know the captain isn't happy either, and that is coupled with the fact that we have several newer people in key positions. Everyone gets their training, but that is no substitute for working with people you have not developed a rapport with.

I have to say I am also one of those people. I am a step away from full command of this ship, working with new people and in a new position.
