Cadet Im'er's Personal Log, Stardate 66232.8

289 words; about a 1 minute read

And so begins my very first mission with Star Fleet, aboard the Galileo. It is a small vessel, but no matter. It suits me well enough. After all, what really is the difference between an Excalibur and a Nova? The size? The type of mission? It matters nought to me. The captain asked me how I felt serving aboard a Nova class. I told her it was an honor to serve no matter the class of ship.

My mentor, Sit'ar Del'an, is amongst us as well. I do not know whether to be nervous or pleased. Of course, I would never tell her I am nervous. She would simply tell me it is a state of mind, one that I can easily correct. True, I can, but I should not be nervous at her presence -- I have known her almost my whole life. Besides, I would not have been chosen to serve aboard a vessel to complete my training should they doubt my abilities. Regardless, it is a comfort to have her on board

My first launch was also that of the Galileo. It is strange to say I feel a kind of connection with her? Her maiden voyage. My maiden voyage. We must prove ourselves together, as it were. Being with the crew during launch was quite a memorable experience.

One of my former teachers from the Academy, Jonathan Holliday, also happens to be the Executive Officer of this vessel. He was, I am afraid to say, a little distraught at learning of my presence aboard the ship. He did remember me, however, and softened around the edges after a time. I will enjoy working with him while serving this vessel.
