Mission: Episode 18 - Cold Station 31
Location: Regula I - Level A - Water Storage
MD 18, 0046 hours

[ON]

Rafe recorded a personal log of his hand written letter to his wife back on earth to be delivered by courier and told the computer to end the personal log. However, it was a ruse to excuse the courier's interaction with Rafe on Regula 1. Below are the actual events:

MD 17, 2318 hours
Rafe waited, but couldn't wait forever, but he needed to get rid of it. He had to be patient. He thought he heard a boot turn on the concrete. He stopped his breathing for a moment, only to hear the faintest of footsteps. He looked around the water tank to see his method of transportation...turning to leave.

"Wait!", Rafe whispered. The older man stopped and turned around as Rafe approached. "I'm told you can be trusted. Say the words."

The older, shorter gentleman just stared and didn't say a word.

Rafe, with desperation, said, "I need to know. Say the words!"

Finally, the courier spoke the agreed upon words to verify his identity and Rafe took a sigh of relief. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a single rectangular prism shaped container about the length of a type-1 phaser, sealed by a coded DNA lock. He handed it to the man with a note showing several strings of numbers. "I need it delivered within 4 days.", Rafe said.

The man made no promises, yet Rafe knew he could be depended upon. His reputation was ironclad. And he didn't get that reputation by being anything other than consistent and dependable. He had heard of him before but had never needed services like this. The data in the package was explosive, able to topple the upper echelons of Starfleet. Yet, he merely wanted it delivered for safe keeping, not for dissemination, at least not yet...maybe never. One never knew where these things would or could go.

He needed, the Captain needed, an out, even if she didn't think so. That was one thing Rafe was, loyal. The man turned around and left Rafe in the semi-darkness of the tanks and filtration systems. The sound of the pumps was welcomed, as they helped to drown out the continued thoughts in his head of the utter horror of his not so distant past.
