Personal Log

I received word today of the birth of a child, and it got me thinking about ‘new life’ and ‘new beginnings’.

I received a recorded message from my Brother Thoryn that his son has been born. All 4 or the parents were present at the birth and for some reason, which hasn’t been made clear just yet, that the male child would be named after his Grandfather, my Father. My nephew was named Tholyrn ch’Shizn.

This new birth or new life got me to thinking about the nature of new life, new opportunity, and carrying on the family name.

There are so many things that are predestined for us by our parents, our peers, our society, and the world about us.

One has to think, what is it that effects us and guides us to what and who we become? One must ask, just how much control do we have over our own life? We are all inspired to go off in different directions based on our innate talents, learned skills, and the opportunities that others might offer us, based on what they see in our potential.

It is sad that some are given so much that they become arrogant in their own abilities and complacent, compared to those that have had to struggle, scratching and clawing their way to earn the opportunities that they seize by their own dynamic will or merit.

What will come of young Tholyrn?
What will be given to him?
What will he learn and earn for himself?
