Captain's Log, Stardate 68475.5

Galileo's departure has been delayed, again. And though I'm not surprised given Admiral Burke's eagerness to 'jump the gun', as the Humans say, I think a proper explanation was deserved. Or at least some sort of advance notice? Yes, the new class of starship might need more shakedown time, but that's no reason to pull my senior staff from their assignments to go on a star-charting crusade. Or whatever it is they're in a hurry to accomplish out there in the Borderlands. I will have to speak with Commander Blake soon to receive the latest briefing...assuming I can get in contact with her.

My people believe that all change brings opportunity and fortune. So by that conviction, it stands to reason the ship's extended departure will let me finish recruiting a full crew compliment and make sure all final systems defects are corrected. The plasma feed conduits are still having trouble properly synchronizing with the primary injector assemblies, and if we can't get the warp core output stabilized to run at proper efficiency, our entire trip could be cut short.

There is still much work to do. But for now, I need a vacation. Some place other than the desolate landscape of Perth or this nagging view of the orbital construction yards; I've seen lunar colonies under bio-domes with more aesthetic diversity. Vajripam is less than an hour's shuttle-ride from the shipyards and I haven't been home for some time. Home, home. It will only be for several days but I've missed my family. And even if my duty to Starfleet consumes most of my life, family always comes first. They are my soul and my keepers.

Computer, end log
