Eelim had gotten the first good night’s sleep he had in months. He rose early, went to the holodeck for a run, showered, ate breakfast, and now he sat in the observation lounge with a data padd. He’d reserved the lounge as he’d wanted to spend some time on his own.

“Computer open log, Eelim Galan”

“Home…I guess. It has been a trying time but I think I have come out of it better. I’ve formed so many friendships it’s like…all this goodness came out of a painful episode in all our lives.”

He thought for a moment, “Abbey, I guess I want to deal with her first. That kid has a good heart, not matter what she thinks. She’s trying to find her place here. She reminds me of my little sister so much. I was glad to help her the other day. She needs someone to talk to, that one.” He smiled. He was starting to feel like a counselor.

“Allyndra and I finally had a chance to connect. I admitted what I’ve been keeping inside for a long time. I am in love with her. All my broken roads, my failed relationship with Mira has led me to a greater treasure. It’s lead me to Allyndra, my princess. I…for the first time in my life I feel complete.”

He smiled, “Then there is Varro…I don’t know what to make of him. We get a long, it’s a quiet friendship but there is something he is running from. I can see the strain that it’s causing him. Something he is keeping a secret, something he refuses to admit even to himself. I’ve tried to talk to him but…” He shook his head sadly. “He is not easy to reach. I have spoken with Marisa and I hope she can get through to him.”

“Eviess…she is a difficult one. She’s sweet, kind, a dreamer, and completely in love with Varro. He doesn’t see it but you’d have to be totally blind not to see it.” He shook his head. “I don’t know if I should say something to him but I get the feeling Varro isn’t ready…the man barely loves himself.”

Eelim stood up and walked around, “I worry about what will happen to our little family, and it does feel like a family. I want us all to stay together but Starfleet is not exactly predictable. I guess we’ll see what happens.”

He walked over to the window and looked out at the stars. “My experience with the Prophets…it is something I’ve been reflecting on for a long while now. I need to honour my real father. Knowing that Galan was not my father has lifted a burden I have carried all my life. I think it’s time for me to take a vacation, I think it’s time I faced Galan.”

Eelim balled his hands into fists, “For all the pain he’s caused it’s time to confront him. End personal log.”
