Chief of the Boat's Log, Stardate 66658.7

Well...I guess I can start with the ship's status report. After engaging the enemy and retreating into a nearby nebula, we've begun to make repairs while the situation slowly unfolds. I haven't heard much from the senior staff as to any plans for escape, so for now I have to rely on my gut instinct, which is currently telling me that we're in deep shit. Well, maybe only knee-high...but still above the ankles. The ship's been beat to hell pretty badly and I doubt that we can survive another encounter, but luckily this nebula has strange properties which mask our energy signature. Something having to do with particle density and EM interference...funny, because those same properties which have kept us safe also revealed another craft hiding here with us. It is...was Dominion, and now we've got a new 'passenger' aboard.

I wasn't there myself when they towed it into the bay, but Lilou said it contained some sort of advanced stealth system as well as a stasis pod. Sure enough when they checked, there was a half-alive Vorta still inside. A bit creepy, in my opinion. And then, someone *cough* must have gotten a bit curious because they tripped the self-destruct mechanism and had to jettison the craft back into space. Luckily we didn't sustain any additional damage, but I think the whole process could have been done a bit smoother. Regardless, there's now a Vorta on board. And I'm not very happy about it.

I haven't spoken to Commander Holliday about it yet, so I have no idea what his plans are for the creature. Personally, I don't want to be anywhere near it, let alone see it wandering past me in the corridors. It might be fourteen years since the treaty was signed but I spent the better part of my early life fighting the Jem'Hadar and his kind in battle. Lots of lives lost...on both sides. I can't imagine it will bring up anything other than sore wounds, and if it was up to me, I'd probably confine it to the brig until we reach the next port. Wonder what the captain would think about it...? Well, I'm sure I'll have to meet it...him sooner or later, so I might as well suck it up.

I haven't been getting much sleep either, recently. Between my quarters being destroyed during the attack and my quasi-girlfriend having panic attacks because of my tattoos, I've been a bit restless. Everyone on the ship is pulling overtime on their shifts and I think it's starting to take a toll on the crew. Tensions are high right now and I can see the fear on the faces of the younger crew. I can only guess that some of them don't think we'll make it out of here alive. Me? I'm a bit more optimistic, but there's one thing in particular that we need back on board: our captain.

End log.
