Mission: Episode 03 - Frontier
Location: USS Galileo - Deck One, Bridge
Timeline: MD01 1545

ON:

Jeremy waited for Rhodes to come to the Bridge for the relief of shift. SB 185 was behind them, the senior staff meeting over and several 'guests' now aboard the ship. Most of which Jeremy wanted to avoid.

However, what he needed was to begin getting the information out to his people about what they were facing. Starting with his assistant.

Lt. Rhodes walked over next to the Tactical station and addressed his department head cordially, "Good afternoon Lt. Stone." He glanced down at the dog laying near by. Rhodes tried not to roll his eyes and also hoped that his chief had not seen the scoff look on his face.

"Bridge shift remains neutral," he said, "Nothing showing on scans long range or up close." He looked around the bridge, noticing the oncoming bridge staff.

"Understood." Rhodes replied appropriately.

"We're going to the Rojar system, which is close to Borg space. Half the senior staff," he snorted as his eyes fell on the flight control station. "Most of the senior staff is convinced we don't need to worry. I'm not of that mindset. I'm going to authorize Gauss/Phasers for the department. I'm also looking into some additional measures for the personnel. The Borg threat isn't the only concern - pirates as well. However, the combination weapon should allow us to have the best possible response. We also need to make sure the shipwide weapons are on a modulating frequency in case of Borg threat."

Rhodes replied, "I concure with your assessment and will make the necessary adjustments."

He sighed. "I've also been looking through who has access to the weapons systems and have removed several members of the crew who have no need to have instant access to weapons, such as the COB. Start working on drills for the department using various scenarios. I also want the tactical station to remain in high alert. Any indication of a Borg transwarp and I want the shields raised immediately and set to modulate. If the FCO isn't -" he stopped before the word 'competent' came out "- able to get the ship turned around and headed for Federation space, it'll fall to us. I'm not willing to chance a 'let's see' attitude regarding the possibility. We can find out just as much by long range scans as we can going up close."

Rhodes was concerned about Stone's assessment of the COB and helmsman, but kepts his comments to himself, at least for now. "I understand." the security officer replied, "I will keep an active sensor scan and make sure we know right off."

"Thank you, I'm going to go brief the rest of the department on these same developments. If you have any questions, please bring them to my attention. But I'm not willing to allow this ship to come to danger for a planetary survey. I'll come back after the meeting to keep you apprised of what took place and if any changes are necessary. I'm pretty sure I've given you the same information. Rojar System, borg and pirate threat. Any questions now?"

Theron felt that the Chief seemd to have the right intentions. Following strict guidelines for safety was always the best practice, in his estimation as well. "No Sir." Rhodes replied, "I relieve you. I look forward to the update from our team."

Jeremy nodded as he tapped his thigh. He checked his chrono and frowned as he would be 'late' for the department meeting.

Lt. Rhodes sat down at the Tactical station and was about to go through the typical check of systems once assuming a station, but first glanced back and watched the Chief exit the Bridge. Looking forward at the console he said to himself, "Good luck Chief." He was not sure why he felt to think that.
