Mission: Episode 02 - Resupply
Location: USS Galileo - Flight Control Office
Timeline: MD 03 - 1330 hrs

[ON]

Dea requested the presence of all flight control personnel at a meeting. The purpose was two fold. First she wanted to run a general debrief, second and more importantly she wanted to check in with those under her command in a setting that gave them at least a small bit of privacy. Having arrived a bit early she waited for the rest of her personnel to arrive.

Having received the communique from his department head requesting a general meeting, Lamar had taken a brisk sonic shower and changed into a crisp new uniform. His promotion to warrant officer the previous day had swelled his head with all sorts of pride, and he was even more happy to have been transferred from Chief of the Boat to the Flight Control department as a support craft pilot. He quite enjoyed flying, and relished the opportunity to become the newest member of Galileo's flight team.

With a swish of the office doors, the former chief stepped into the medium-sized room and glanced around. The room was rather empty except for one other person, who he promptly identified as Lieutenant JG Mialin. Her brown hair and red highlights were very recognizable, as were the Trill spots which ran from her forehead, down the sides of her cheeks and neck, and disappeared under her uniform. Lamar moved closer towards her and clasped his hands behind his back in a formal manner. "I hope I'm not too early, lieutenant." he said in greeting.

Nenokah stepped through the door of the flight control office with purpose, glad that she was only the third person to have arrived. She nodded to the others in the room in greeting before taking a seat.

Addressing Lamar as she noticed Nenokah enter, "No you're just fine. Congratulations on your promotion." Turning her attention to both Flight Control Officers, "This will be a more informal meeting than usual. We'll just wait for the others to arrive they should be here shortly."

"Yes, ma'am." Lamar answered curtly, then took a seat at the table next to Nenokah. His eyes drifted over her features for a moment and he realized that she appeared to be some sort of Human/Klingon hybrid...an attractive one, at that. It was strange that he had never met her before, and he wondered if she was a new addition to the crew or had been on board since the beginning.

Smiling internally, Nenokah reveled in the fact that Lamar didn't know she was half Betazoid. It was always fun to see people's reactions when they find out that she can sense everything they feel. She looked at him and gave him a curt nod.

Sylver kept quiet as he got in, looking around and giving a small smile to the others before taking a seat.

Once everyone had arrived Dea made her way to the front of the room. "Thank you for coming. With recent events I felt it important for us to get together as a department. I don't want this to be a formal meeting. The goal is for us to be able to talk and be there for each other. If anyone feels a need for a more private setting my door is open." She paused then continued, "My job is not to take the place of Galileo'sCounseling staff but to be an additional resource. One of my duties as your Department Head is to ensure the well being of personnel under my command."

"So I'm doing this as a more informal meeting. If you have questions or feel the need to say something do so. If you have ideas to keep morale up for the department while we're grounded here I'd like to hear them."

The tall former-Marine glanced around the table and took the opportunity to speak before anyone else. "Well I don't know about anyone else here, but that was some damn good flying you did to keep us in one piece during the crash." he said, flashing his department head a wry grin. "You definitely have my thanks, ma'am."

Dea really didn't know what to say so she simply nodded. To her it wasn't about being a hero. On some level she felt like she hadn't done enough. Waiting to see if any one else had anything to say.

Sylver kept himself quiet, watching them for a moment. He had little to say...he just got through it all the way he always did.

Nenokah remained stoic, as per usual. She had just been doing her job to the best of her abilities, nothing more.

Once people had made their initial comments, "So we have shore leave. I'm putting out a skeleton roster so we all get time off but will have personnel on hand to cover repairs as needed. Also if anyone has request for additional training or cross training get those into me and I'll ensure its take care of."

Lamar's ears perked up and he shifted in his seat at the mention of additional training. He had just completed his basic flight qualifications for small craft, and was eager to advance his knowledge in the hopes that he could eventually get behind the helm of the larger Nova Class. "Um, yes ma'am, I'd like to work on my starship qualifications if possible." he said.

Unable to hide the smile that formed at his response, "Well I'd hope so considering Galileo is a starship. So yes getting everyone in this department qualified in that if they aren't already is on the training to do list."

The dark-skinned warrant officer grinned back at the lieutenant. He was quite happy with his role as a support craft pilot, but wanted to expand his knowledge to bigger and more lucrative vessels. Galileo wasn't exactly a big starship, but it was at least ten times larger than anything he had flown, even in a simulator. Most importantly, its planetary landing capability added an entirely new dimension to the flight training. "So...should I schedule some simulator time with you, ma'am?" he asked Dea expectantly, then looked around the table at the other lieutenant and the familiar Warrant Officer Sylver. Maybe one of them wanted to assist him instead? he wondered.

"You can schedule the simulator time with whoever you feel like. I"ll be running some in person study sessions for the textbook part," Dea responded. It was nice to see someone interested in expanding their skills.

"Does anyone else have any questions, comments or suggestions for the department?" Dea inquired making eye contact with all of her personnel.

Lamar shook his head. Aside from taking care of the remainder of his qualifications, he had nothing else to add at the moment. He found it strange that the other two officers had remained silent the entire time, but perhaps they were simply just a quiet bunch.

Dea let her eyes wanted the assembled group. "That's all I have. Remember to check the duty roster and enjoy your shoreleave. If you need someone to listen my door is always open. Dismissed."
