Coming back to her quarters after a good workout Mimi stripped off, throwing her clothes into a pile and headed for the sonic shower.

She rested against the back wall of the shower enjoying the feeling as the waves dissolved the dirt and sweat from her.

Suddenly the sonic shower emitted a piercing shrieking sound, Mimi covered her ears but the sound was so loud it had no effect, she quickly pressed the button to switch the shower off but it wouldn't switch off.

Soon the sound became unbearable and she decided to flee from her quarters into the hopefully quiet safety of the corridor, she burst through the door only remembering at the last moment to grab a towel to cover herself, luckily no one was walking through the corridor at the time.

Wrapping herself in the towel she thought what to do for a minute and hoped that someone would come past, then she thought about who could help her sooner rather than later and quickly took off down the corridor a little and tapped the chime on Constantine and Donald's quarters.

Vansen sighed as he pushed himself off the bunk and jumped onto the floor. Clad in his favourite soft pair of jogging bottoms and a tight tee shirt, he hadn't expected guests. Maybe Donald had. "Come in," he said and then stopped and stared at the woman standing there. With a towel. There was a towel. He blinked before he looked at her face. "Okay. This is new."

Mimi stepped inside his quarters, she already felt embarrassed. "I need your help Constantin but do not get any ideas."

"No...no ideas happening here..." Constantin said and watched her, well her face, swallowing. "So what sort of help? Clothing help? I mean, I believe the replicator works...if you speak to it slowly..."

"My sonic shower is making a really loud noise and it will not stop." Mimi started to explain. "It got so loud I could not take it any more."

He looked at her, then her state of undress and then back to her. "Heightened hearing?" he suggested, because most people would have suffered through at least getting dressed. But Constantin, being the gentleman he never was, went to pick up his kit anyway.

"My hearing is a little better than a humans," Mimi replied. "Like a Caitian's, even with all the sound dampening I can still hear it now."

"Okay...do you want to stay here while I go and fix it?" he asked, genuinely concerned for her hearing. And no one needed an extra trip to sickbay put it that way.

Mimi nodded. "If I can. I can still hear it from here so going nearer it will just get louder again."

"Okay...stay here. And...feel free to borrow something to put on," he gestured to his locker before he headed out. Going to her quarters wasn't a problem and when he entered it, he went straight to the sonic shower. He might not hear it, but he touched the wall and closed his eyes. Something didn't feel right with him. So he started working.

There wasn't much wrong except a simple wrongly installed part, so Constantin took it upon himself to uninstall it and put it in again, checking it before he turned on the shower to check. He felt the walls again and for him he couldn't detect anything. So...

Realising she might not have her commbadge on, Constantin walked back to his quarters and smiled as he walked in. "Should be fixed..."

Mimi stood up from the chair, she'd partially dressed herself with a uniform shirt and some very loose fitting (on her thin form at least) shorts she'd found. Her ears twitched a little, "Well it is certainly quieter, shall we go and see." She quickly headed out Constantine's quarters towards her own.

Constantine followed her, smiling weakly as he swung his bag over his shoulder. "I can't detect anything now, but your ears are better so..."

Reaching door it automatically opened and Mimi was hit with a wall of noise and she covered her ears again. "It is not as bad but it is still there." She said shouting over the noise that it was apparent only she could hear.

He grimaced at her shouting before he let out a breath. "Okay..." he walked back in and moved to the sonic shower. He reached for his tools and started working again. Taking it apart. Changing anything that looked even slightly used. Putting it back in again. Turning it on. "Now?"

"A little better." Mimi replied still shouting.

He looked at the sonic shower with confusion. It was working. It was in perfect order. And she still could hear something? He gritted his teeth before he took it apart, again, sitting down on the floor. He pushed his hair from his face with one hand even as the other went to inspect each piece. He used both touch and his eyes to inspect them before scanning them, putting the little instrument between his teeth. Once done he put the sonic shower together again, taking a deeper breath. "Now?" he asked and turned it on again.

"That's better." Mimi shouted before realising she didn't need to shout. "I do not know what you did but it has gone."

Constantin looked at what he had before he grinned, shaking his head as he took a piece he hadn't put in and held it up. "I may or may not have cheated....I am just glad it isn't hurting you anymore."

Mimi smiled glad her ordeal was over. "Thank you for your help Constantine."

Vansen gave her a small smile and nodded, putting his stuff together before he moved to the door. "Happy to help. And you can keep the outfit...suits you," he smiled and winked, chuckling warmly. "I'll leave you to finish your shower."

Smiling back Mimi took a few more steps towards the bathroom and watched Constantine leave. "Good night Constantine." she said.

"Night, Ensign Mimi," Vansen nodded and walked out, a weak smile on his lips.
