Mission: Episode 17 - Crystal of Life
Location: USS Galileo-A - Sickbay
Timeline: MD -181, 1630 hrs

Marisa knew she needed to go back to sickbay and get her physical so she'd be good to go for the voyage, but she'd put it off and now, the ship had launched. It wasn't that she had a problem with doctors, she's spent enough time helping out as a counselor that it wasn't that. It was more that going back to sickbay--especially on a starship--brought back memories and she wasn't sure if she was ready to face them.

She had no more excuses and even she had to admit that it was more than time she get this over with. So, she freed up some time in the morning and headed to sickbay.

Walking into the main sickbay, she paused as memories of the last time she'd been in a ship's sickbay flooded her mind. No, she told herself and firmly pushed them back where hey came from, and walked up to the desk. "Hello. I need to get my physical, if anyone has time."

"Take a bed, be there in a moment," came the somewhat musical voice from the office. Departures and people coming aboard always meant a lot of getting records straight and up to date.

Allyndra finished up and then came out, "Ah Marissa, it has been awhile. How have you been?"

"Like most of us, it's been an interesting journey," Marisa said. "But I'm happy how it's going so far." She smiled at the doctor. "How have you been?"

"Busy, it is always that way for medical at the beginning and hopefully that will be our only busy time. One can only hope. Other than that life goes on. So let's get you checked out. Anything new I should be aware of?"

"Physically? No. As far as I know I'm still in good health. Getting back into science has been a much-needed change." Even though she didn't think so in the beginning.

"Sorry standard question. Mostly I find that it is the enlisted that...well shall we say pick things up off a long shore leave. Alright lay back and let's take a look." She started the scan. "So how are the new science labs? I have not had time to head down that way yet. The medical ones are much better so I guess will be staying out of science's territory."

"They're nice. I wish we had the space for a larger arboretum, but the ship is really too small for that." Marisa smiled. "I'm glad medical has some decent labs. I imagine you'll get plenty of use out of them before long."

Allyndra sighed. "You are most likely correct, hopefully it will be more research than medical necessity. Tell me does the arboretum at least have a pond. Please tell me that it does. The holodeck is alright but there is nothing really quite like the feel of real water on ones toes."

"Yes, we have a pond." Marisa smiled. "With ducks. There's a small stream as well. And fish tanks."

"Oh thank goodness. Well the ducks probably will not be happy but they will have to learn to share." Allyndra said firmly. She looked at the scan and then compared it to the last on the PaDD. "Well everything looks good and no significant changes from last time that I can see."

"That's good," Marisa said, referring to the scans. "If you come to the pond at night, the ducks are generally sleeping and you can have it to yourself. For the benefit of the flora, we follow a solar calendar."

"Very well, I would not want to disturb things too much. Well you are good and official now. Is there anything else I can help with?"

"Not at the moment," Marisa replied. "I'm actually doing pretty good." Which was a welcome change after the past year. "Is there anything I can do for you?"

"Oh let me snoop around the science labs. I always have a curiosity about various aspects along those lines. I promise not to touch anything."

"Of course. You're always welcome in science."

"Thank you, well as far as I am concerned Marissa, you are officially medically checked in and nothing new then your last scan. So you are free from medicals clutches for now." Allyndra winked and then said, "And if I were you I would make my dash for freedom now. Twins only know when Tuula might pop in."

"My thanks," Marisa said, getting to her feet. "Although I am always in good hands here. If you require any adjustments to the pond, please, let me know." She gave Allyndra a half bow before making her departure.

"I will, take care," Allyndra made a little curtsy back to the bow.
